CNN reporting Malaysian officials have asked the people of Malaysia to "keep your mouths shut"!
say what?? wow

I saw a pilot on TV a few days ago talking about transponders. He said it would be one of, if not the, last things either a pilot would turn off, or that would go off in a power loss, because it draws so little power.

True, thank you, and as to flying being safe I 100% agree with you and this will not in the least change my habits, the likelihood of an accident like this is extremely extremely low to almost impossible. It's that, as you say, in this country they allowed stolen passport holders to get on the plane and a lot more. There should be an international convention that you must scan passports through the interpol database, that's just one of dozens of things coming out of this
In 5 years all passports will contain the owners DNA.
It will be checkable at the gate before you even enter the departure lounge.
Eventually, every baby born will have its DNA taken and registered and you won't get a passport if you aren't registered, just like birth certificates now. Youll probably take a DNA certificate home from the hospital instead of a birth certificate.

Nice.:noooo:
So much for freedom of speech!
How could they get instantaneous DNA results?

Bill Nye :loveyou: explains the "Black Box". One interesting thing, they can drop a microphone from a helicopter into the water to listen for the ping. I didn't know that.

I suspect this is in part why the US believes the plane has crashed in the Indian Ocean. Submarines are detecting the black box pinging. If so, should lead them to the crash site soon. However, unlike the shallow Gulf of Thailand, the Indian Ocean is DEEP. As in 16,000 ft deep.Bill Nye :loveyou: explains the "Black Box". There would have been no network to hear the cell phones pinging. If an airliner doesnt have cell/or wifi capabilities, which this one did not, the cell phones would have been useless.

Oh, yes, I agree. I'm also focusing on the lack of accurate info., the backtracking, subterfuge and generally shadiness of Malaysia. Just ridiculous.
P.S., I LOVE your avatar!!!!!!!!!!
It's Malaysia, not The United States!
I'm thinking why can;t they just do thumbprints? Or handprints? For example, at the gym at California State Long Beach, to get into the gym, you put your hand onto a scanner. It scans your handprint and then the doors slide open if you are recognized. We can't have anything like that with passports? Why not?
