Regarding the cargo: Several days ago (don't remember how many and I'll never find it again) I read on an Asian news website that a large amount of a certain fruit was a large part of the cargo. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the fruit.

I was reading a lot about Diego Garcia days ago and wow what a checkered past.....people were displaced to Mauritius and Seychelles and did not fare well. Thanks for the link

I am trying to find what I was reading before and it was something along the lines of China supporting Russia against Ukraine and the cargo on that plane would aid this.....

Good lordy I hope it wasn't some form of bio warfare!!! and it was in that cargo hold....

The article implies the plane was diverted there . On purpose.

And that there are CDC people from more then one country .

I personally think this story is not as far fetched as a whole plane missing and no one having a clue. It just make alot of things fit that didnt before.

I just would like to have a link that the CDC people are traveling . Is there a meeting or a conference etc..etc..

I hate that about conspiracy theory groupies. They all use the same bloggers for links and never offer proof.

I've been looking at the depth of the water off the SW coast of WA - in places, the Diamantina Trench is almost twice as deep as where the Titanic lay to rest. I'm plumping for the Broken Ridge Plateau.

ETA: Someone I know who has been to Israel claims Israel maintains security just by asking questions to try and discern who you are, and avoids the "invasive" tactics of the U.S. in terms of physical screenings and limitations on what you can bring on board. I know Israel is good about security, but how does it differ from the U.S.? While I know there is a lot of value in sizing a person up, I find it hard to believe they'd be able to pinpoint every single sinister person by chatting.

Israel begins the security process when you book your flight. It can be on any airline. Once your name drops in their database...security checks are in the works. When you arrive/depart Israel they already know who to stop.

But what do they check? I mean, the U.S. obviously monitors people on terrorism watch lists and with criminal records, and probably even just people with radical ideas, although that clearly gets into some dicey issues. What about people who don't have an obvious flagged background? Or an inside job, which becomes more and more common as it's so hard for foreigners to do now. Homegrown terrorism is obviously an issue.

And obviously they don't have the same rights and laws as the U.S., but who do they reject? If they find you are acting weird or may have some association, do they just not let you fly? I mean generally their practices sound sufficient, and I think the U.S. practices were generally sufficient pre-9/11. It's just the red flags weren't as obvious, and people weren't aware of the danger they were in so they didn't fight back. But there can always be a pretty normal seeming person who tries something. As long as they screen for bombs and weapons, I don't care too much. Security is so good in many places that it's not even worth it to commit terrorism via plane. I was surprised it took so long to have a Boston Bombing incident, and I'm surprised there haven't been more.

WOW. Like with most conspiracy theories, that is waaay over my head.

Off topic but I always feel like I'm going to cry when I hear Diego Garcia. When my husband first deployed I remember him calling about 10 hours after they left, I asked where he was and he said "Diego Garcia". That was the first time it hit me that he was really out of the country and was going to Iraq. I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. It was a looong time and many deployments ago now, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
