When asked whether the Malaysia Airlines chose this flight path in a bid to save fuel cost, he said such reports were not true.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk called for swift, international justice.

“This is a crime against humanity. All red lines have been already crossed. This is the deadline,” he said. “We ask our international partners to call an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting and to [do] everything we can to stop this war: a war against Ukraine, a war against Europe, and after these terrorists shot down a Malaysian aircraft, this is the war against the world.”

Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, head of the Ukraine Security Service, said Ukraine now believes that the Boeing 777 was shot down by rebel forces using a Buk antiaircraft missile launcher that had recently been moved over the border from Russia. He said Ukraine has detained two Russian citizens who allegedly had helped bring the missile launcher into Ukraine. Ukrainian intelligence services also observed rebels trying to move back into Russia a Buk launcher that had fired two missiles, he added. It was not immediately possible to independently verify the claims.

bbm This movement will probably be a satellite radar, as in there should be pictures. hopefully

Some Dutch victims:

'The dead include Antoine van Veldhuizen, director of expat website Expatica.com, his wife and two small boys who were on their way for a holiday.'

'Labour senator Willem Witteveen was also killed, as was Aids researcher Joep Lange, who was one of a number of people on their way to an Aids conference in Melbourne. Pim de Kuijer of Stop Aids Now is also thought to be among the dead.'

'Six of the dead – parents and their four children – come from the tiny village of Neerkant in Brabant. A teddy bear and a bunch of flowers outside their home are testament to the loss, Nos television said. '

I do! to the extent that often I'm not even aware of it as a separate language.

The plane came down after two explosions, locals say.

“It fell down it pieces,” said Zhenia, 21-year-old miner, standing by his motorbike and pointing at the place in the sky where it happened.

“The dead bodies were falling everywhere, even in the village,” said his friend Kolia, 25, also a miner.

“Initially I thought it was a paratrooper descending from the plane but then realized that there were people falling from the sky in passenger seats,” said one of the rebels – Vladimir, 45, holding a Kalashnikov in his hands and standing at one of the checkpoints organized by separatists on the way to plane’s crash.

Wow. I always had the impression Russia Today wasn't exactly an 'independent' media org. Look at these tweets. One of their presenters resigned because of the MH17.

'14:41: Chinese state news agency Xinhua has published a commentary warning against "hasty conclusions" on who is to blame for the crash. It criticises Western countries for making a "one-sided accusation" against east Ukrainian rebels and Russia.'

Not sure the separatist have planes so why would the Ukrainian army shoot down a plane? Plus we already have an auto confirmation from their rebel leader that they took credit for the missile strike. jmo

11:50pm: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he was in touch with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko and expressed hope that a solution to the crisis could soon be found.

"We are in contact with Ukrainian President Pyotr Alekseyevich Poroshenko," Putin said at a meeting with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, using the Russian version of the Ukrainian leader's name.

"And I hope that he will manage to offer all the people of the whole of entire Ukraine, all people wherever they live, a way for events to develop that would lead to final, complete and long-term peace on this land," Putin said, Russian news agencies reported.

Air France, Lufthansa and other airlines all said they are rerouting their flights as of yesterday. On flight tracker at the last recorded time of MH17 there were a lot of planes in that corridor. Some people are mixing up the Crimea no fly zone and the Eastern one in this case. This was an open highway to all commercial traffic, IOCAO had not closed it. It was not considered to be the dangerous area, in fact due to bad weather the pilot was actually flying even farther north than the planned highway and should have been even safer.

I cannot blame MH, i blame IOCAO (sic) and others in charge of making safe flight corridors and maintaining them.
