IMO His defense is that his best friend was in love with him, was a master manipulator and committed this crime unbeknownst to him, then changed his story for a plea deal. It’s the state’s burden to prove Mark is guilty. It’s the defense’s job to poke holes.

Yes, the state has the burden - but honestly, I have not seen enough of the trial to say how well the State is doing.

But - I will get caught up over the weekend, and give my humble opinion then.

Dr. Petritis says he was much closer to Teresa Sievers than to Mark Sievers.

He says they had the kind of friendship where they would visit each other's home.

Petrites moved to Florida in 1997 and a few years later he was reacquainted with Teresa Sievers. They became close friends and they were also professionally connected with referring patients to each other.

Dr. Petrites and his wife were friends with Dr. Sievers from 2007 to the day of her demise. Not as close with Mark and he did not do "guy things" together with Mark. Ask each other to do favors? Once, a humidifier, but no.
Dr P was not very close to him.

Dr. Petritis says Mark left him a voicemail on the morning of June 29, 2015.

He says Mark asked him to go to the Sievers home to check on Teresa.

#SieversTrial - Petritis testifies he got a call from Mark Sievers saying Teresa didn't show up for work and asked him to check on her. He said Mark wanted him to just walk in, didn't need to knock.

Mark told him that she didn't show up for work and that wasn't like her.

Petrites had concerns about just walking into the house. He also knew she had a gun and he didn't want to just walk in.

Dr. P had concerns about just walking into someone's house. He also wouldn't just walk into a house where someone has a weapon. I don't blame him. You can tell he felt very awkward being asked by Mark.

#SieversTrial - Petritis said he told Mark he wasn't going to just walk in to his house. He pounded on the door for awhile. He then opened the garage door with the keypad code Mark had given him.

He said he went to the garage door to go into the house. Mark gave him the keypad code.

He went into the house and one of the dogs ran out because one of the doors were left open.

   When he got no answer, Dr. Petritis says he went to the garage door and used the keypad code Mark gave him to enter.
   
   When he entered the home, Dr. Petritis says he found Teresa's body.

Dr. Petritis says he didn't tell Mark Sievers what he had seen inside the home.

Dr. Petritis says he just told Mark that he needed to come home now.

He then called 911.
