Armato said he conducted some interviews and got a DNA buccal swab from Bonnie Sievers.

They knew she had access to the home while Teresa was away to watch the dogs so they took her DNA.

Moving quickly through witnesses this afternoon. Next up, a Lee County Sgt. who worked violent crimes and took a DNA swab from Mark Sievers’ mom. Testified that’s standard for “elimination”. #SieversTrial @winknews

He said it is standard to take DNA from those who aren't suspects for standard elimination.

He is released from the stand.

I wonder why they had to call that detective just to testify that he took a DNA swab for elimination from MS's mom. Was there going to be an issue over that ?

Wouldn't it just be a simple stipulation in which both sides agreed it happened?

They want it fresh in the juries minds for some reason.

whoaaaaa...when Dr P pointed Mark out, the look Mark was giving...wow
OMAMA....so glad you noticed the " you-SOB-glare", too. If my doctor looked at me the way Dr.P looked at MS, I would be expecting him to say, "You are terminally ill and there is no cure."

@winknews Paramedic said they were only in the house briefly. Saw the victim on the ground with "injuries that were incompatible with life". They did not attempt any life-saving measures at that point. #SieversTrial @winknews

Seviers calling the doctor to have him look in to see if his wife was okay was odd under any circumstances given that his own mother (isn't his mother Bonnie Seviers?) was taking care of the family pets while he was out of town.

John Armato from the Lee County Sheriff's Office was briefly on the stand.

He said he collected buccal swabs from Bonnie Sievers as a protocol to eliminate her DNA from the crime scene investigation.

Bonnie had visited the home that weekend to care for the dogs.

With any potential homicide scene they have to preserve evidence, Downs said.

Ross is showing him a photo of a home, and he said that it was the home he responded to.

Downs said he was not the only detective conducting the neighborhood canvas.

Later that night, he did a walk through of the home. He went through most of the house and get a feel for the scene.
