In 2016, Shomaker called Detective Downs to ask for financial trouble, she said. She was in financial trouble at the time, she said.

In February 2016, Downs was able to help Shomaker with her rent. She received and has been receiving $400 each month to help with rent, she said.

"He acted like it wasn't nothing to him. I don't know he had a little chuckle after he said it. He had no remorse," Shomaker said of Rodgers demeanor after he admitted to the killing.

Rodgers' nickname was "Jimmy The Hammer," Shomaker said and he expected to make $10,000 from the killing, Shomaker said. The blue jumpsuit Rodgers asked Shomaker to throw out the car window was from Rodgers' work, Shomaker said.

Mark Sievers' Defense Attorney Micheal Mummert is now cross examining Shomaker.

"He chuckled [after telling her about the murder] like he had no remorse."

Shorter direct from the state on Shomaker. Defense up now.

There were "a lot" of people and Shomaker was drunk at the gathering the night before the wedding, she said. About 10 to 15 people were at the gathering and people were inside and outside the home, Shomaker said.

Was there anything about Mark Sievers that was special to you, Mummert asks. Mark Sievers was "kind of a pervert. I didn't really look his way because of it," Shomaker said. Inside the cooler was hammer that had a ball on both sides, Shomaker said.

Shomaker said she doesn't remember Rodgers bringing the hammer with him to Florida. The shoes were thrown away in the trailer park dumpster, Shomaker said.

Shomaker just described Sievers as "kind of a pervert". Threw everyone for a loop I think

MM trying to imply Taylor was drunk that night, but apparently she was able to see Mark looked like a pervert. Funny.

Shomaker said she got rid of gloves at the same time as the jumpsuit.

Interesting to note that Rodgers' defense attorney Kathleen Fitzgeorge is in the courtroom for Shomaker's testimony. Rodgers was convicted of second-degree murder in connection with Teresa Sievers killing last month.

Mummert is asking Shomaker about a deposition she gave and asks her to read from the record of the deposition.

Shomaker said she wasn't working when she called LCSO to ask for money. She said she wasn't making money in any way and wasn't paying bills.

"Do you recall having an agreement with law enforcement," Mummert asks. Shomaker said she somewhat remembers that and remembers telling law enforcement she wanted to help.

Shomaker told state and defense she isn't being paid for testimony. Defense just attempted to remind her that she said she is being paid to testify during deposition. She said she doesn't remember her agreement.

She most certainly did! The way he'd look at her so she avoided making eye contact. (I'm paraphrasing- but I LOVED that moment and her) ♡♡♡

Mummert asks Shomaker if she anticipated receiving $55,000 from Crime Stoppers at the conclusion of this case if Mark Sievers is convicted. Shomaker said no she does not anticipate getting that money.

Shomaker just told the jury detectives told her she'd receive at least a portion of $55,000 from crime stoppers if she cooperated towards a conviction.

Shomaker said she remembers the $55,000 but doesn't remember if she is supposed to receive it if Mark Sievers is convicted. Detectives mentioned the $55,000 from Crime Stoppers to Shomaker when they spoke with her, she said.

Shomaker has remarried since Rodgers was arrested. She changed her name a few weeks ago, she said.

MM asks Taylor if she anticipates receiving $55K from Crime Stoppers if Mark is convicted. Taylor says no. She remembers the $55K, but not that she could receive it. MM asks again if Taylor was working. He's trying to imply she just wanted to get the money.

Taylor is holding up well though. She's not letting MM scare her.

No one except Jimmy Rodgers called Rodgers "Jimmy The Hammer," Shomaker said when Mummert asked. It was a self assigned nickname apparently. In February 2016, Shomaker started receiving funds from LCSO.

  • #236
The "pervert" comment was TS replying to MM's question, "was there anything about Mr Sievers that was specialty or made you look his way."

I think prosecution should have objected, as it sounded like MS looked like that coming back from the bedroom!

ALL IMO

"At this point we are at about $20,000," Mummert asks about the funds from LCSO. "I don't know," Shomaker said.

Shomaker said she is unsure of what Rodgers did with the hammer with balls on both sides. Detectives threatened Shomaker with taking her children during the investigation, she said.

Shomaker says now police threatened her that they would take her kids. If memory serves me right, she didn't remember that during the trial of Jimmy Rodgers.

We’re seeing a very different Taylor Shomaker in her testimony today. In her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy Rodgers’, trial she was emotional and made little eye contact. Today she is direct when answering questions.

Detective Downs took a video of Shomaker finding the jumpsuit on the side of the Missouri highway, she said. She found the jumpsuit one day and the phone pieces a different day, Shomaker said.

Shomaker knew Jimmy Rodgers for only a few months before the wedding of Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Angela Wright, she said. They moved in together before the wedding and Rodgers paid the rent and a lot of the bills. "I tried to work, but he wouldn't let me," Shomaker said.

After Shomaker gave detectives info, Rodgers was arrested and he stopped paying the bills, Shomaker said. Shomaker then had to figure out a way to pay the bills on her own, she said.
