I agree. They knew they had caused him severe harm. Anyone could see that.

Which is why that statement about the arrest going down with no apparent harm makes me want to puke.
He was OBVIOUSLY seriously injured IMMEDIATELY DURING OR AFTER THE ARREST.

This did not happen in the paddy wagon. C'mon, man.

If something happened during the arrest, I am almost certain that one of the police cameras caught what happened. I think there is one on the corner where the arrest happened. I think the cameras probably got just about the whole chase or whatever it was.

Since most of the footage hasn't been released, I am inclined to think that it shows something, imo. I am still holding my judgement as to what caused Mr. Gray his injuries but clearly someone needs to be held accountable for not giving him proper medical attention.

When you say most of the footage hasn't been released, does that mean that part of the footage that has been released is from surveillance cameras?

Exactly, the cops knew full and well they had hurt him. It reminds me of Adam Tatum case where the cops beat the guy and broke both his legs. Then tried to make him walk, pretending like nothing had happened.

I saw some of him running/walking quickly from surveillance cameras on the news earlier. I don't know if there has been any other released. I will try to find a link to what I saw.

So, I can't find it but I just saw a promo for Fox 45 news that said they were going to discuss the number of police cameras in the area and why they didn't show more of the arrest. It has probably already aired since the news came on at 10 but I am watching DVR not live TV. I checked their website but didn't see anything.

You saw Mr Gray running/walking from surveillance camera? If I understood that correctly, did Mr Gray appear to have any injury?

Thanks.

He did not appear to be injured but I don't know if the footage was before the police chase or during it.

This video shows the arrest from a different angle. Someone posted it earlier but it didn't show it in full. At the end of the video, it looks like Mr. Gray stands on on his own on the back of the van.

On WBAL news on right now, they said that investigators are looking over all the other police video to see if it shows more.

The guy in the video who is talking says he can't use his legs due to being tased. I don't get the impression that he had a spinal injury at that time. It seems like if he had it by then either he would not feel any pain or if he was in pain, he would not have laid so still on the ground. Any medical folks in the house?

I'm not a medical person but I just heard a medical examiner on Anderson Cooper explain that the injury may have occurred in two stages. There was an original - less serious - injury on the ground and then when the victim was put in the van the injury was compounded by the man moving his head. This makes sense to me. We know in the case of car accident victims where there is a possibility of spinal cord damage the first responders will not move the patient until the patient is in a head brace because further more serious damage can be done after the original injury if the patients neck is not made immobile.

Agree, that makes lots of sense. I sure hope the ME is right that the injury happened outside of the van because we have way more of a chance of finding out exactly what happened.

Does your video have slow motion? I am having trouble seeing WTH is going on.

No I have been watching the same ones that were on CNN and no slow motion. Just have to watch several times.

That makes a lot of sense.

Isn't this the one where arresting officers wrote in their report that he was taken into custody without incident?
I keep thinking about that. Are these officers so jaded that a foot chase and take down are considered without incident?
And they should be required to document whenever a person in custody requests any type of medical attention and what they did about it IMO. For libability reasons if nothing else..

It appears some of the officers were there on bikes. Wouldn't make sense for them to do the pursuit?

Now if you and your partner were on bike and chasing some one on foot. And they aren't obeying commands to stop.
How would you stop them?

Maybe one bike moving in front of him? And the second guy lunging from the bike in a physical takedown?
If you lunged you might not have a lot of control over where and how hard you hit.

Now let's say as you are putting him in handcuffs you realize he might be hurt. And with interactions from bystanders you realize you are being watched and recorded. And you are in a neighborhood that isn't exactly cop friendly.
Split second decision to get him in the van before bystanders realized he was injured. (Noticed in the video where the woman said the guy had a broken leg. One officer just looked at her and didn't really respond)

I think that might explain the injuries and why the officers acted as they did. But it doesn't explain them not telling the van driver to call ems and meet them somewhere.

That's a possibility. I wonder also if one of the officers ran him down while on his bike, I know they can go pretty fast and if he hit him hard enough, maybe it could cause injury?

He looks to be kneeling in this video, so I don't think his spine was severed at this point. I wonder if they just threw him in the back of the van and he rolled around and it happened (someone who had been placed in the back of one of those vans posted on one of the news FB pages and she said something like she rolled around in the back) Anybody here know if people who are arrested are seat belted/secured in vehicles?

I'm assuming he was completely incapacitated when he got to the ER. I'm sure those reports will be enlightening.
