This might stop them for a while. Until it gets to court. What happens if she can't convict?

Ah, but she will, consider the jury pool. And, if not, remember Ferguson burning?

I have. It gives the jury the chance to choose which crime they feel is most appropriate.

Loosely translated, that means when you have two ways to go, you almost always feel you have to choose one, but in reality, you can choose NEITHER. It is rather a psychological ploy for a conviction.

I hope the police searched hard for drugs that might have been ditched when he was running.

The family said early on that the knife wasn't a switchblade. But the commissioner very clearly said that it was a spring loaded knife.

Did the commissioner examine the knife or just the officer's reports?

I have a hard time mustering up sympathy for a heroin dealer.

I hope the police searched hard for drugs that might have been ditched when he was running.

I would like to see the toxicology report too. I know what you're saying about him being a drug dealer but this time it appears he wasn't breaking the law.

They do not know exactly what happened to cause his death is what I understand. Other than having no seat belt.

And that is going to cause problems in court. She will have to come up with a theory of the crime, who did what when, and how those actions were illegal.

And bear in mind, there is no guarentee that the case will be done in this county. There is no guarentee that she will be the prosecutor. And it is very likely that jury will be racially mixed.

Makes one wonder about the other guy that ran the other way - now don't it?

JMHO

Oh, I'm not saying that LE didn't do some wrong. They definitely should have seat belted him in. I understand that they didn't because they were afraid he would bite them, but their rules say they have to, so they have to.

I just have no sympathy for heroin dealers and wish they would all go away. It sucks that these six officers have the potential for prison over someone like that.

It will be interesting to see how fast this moves along.

Well, this should stop all rioting , right?
Something tells me that's wishful thinking but in a perfect world.
I'm very surprised at the murder charge.
Hahahaha.

They need something like automatic seat belts in there or some sort of roll bar like a roller coaster has.

Police officers in squad cars also have to reach over to belt the person in.
I wonder how they manage it?

They don't do it if the prisoner is irate.

No matter what happens in this case Baltimore is going to burn.

She takes it to court and wins, they will burn it in jubulation and for all previous percieved injustices.

She takes it to court and loses they will burn in retaliation.

A special prosecutor takes the case and dismisses it, she will come out a hero and B'more will burn in retaliation. ( this is actually her best option IMO)

A special prosecutor takes it to court and no matter if they win or lose the city burns.

Maybe I am just a pessimist, but I don't see any other outcomes. Or any solutions. The only saving grace is that it will buy time for businesses to install stronger security.

She charged it. Now can she prove it? I haven't seen her pc yet that is going to be interesting. I really thought there might be a grand jury for one or more of them. But never thought there would be charges.

Yeah, I think she just bit off more than she can chew. Plus I assume the defense can ask for a change of venue.

ITA - coming from an area where, over the years, I have watched dozens of children (some not even children yet, but infants) die in drive-by shootings. Almost on a daily basis. I just keep asking - where is the justice for them?

***sigh*** but that's JMVHO

I had to walk away a couple of times during her PC and might have missed it, but she seemed to be giving a very detailed timeline of events, and then sort of skipped right over how his injuries were inflicted/sustained. Without evidence of direct contact between the driver and FG this seems much more of a manslaughter event; negligence, or indifference. The way she laid it out, it seems as if the failure to put a seatbelt on him, and the failure to get medical attention is what led to his death.

I just thought it was odd that she was giving such detail, and then seemingly focused on the failure of getting him medical attention.

IDK, IDK..... confusing.
