C1 and C2 fractures are the most catastrophic as they affect the respiratory center in the brain. Both of these vertebra sit high into your skull. IIRC, FG had fractures in C3-5? plus a mostly severed spinal cord ~80%. If FG had had his spine immobilized initially, received emergency care, stabilized and fused, maybe, just maybe, he might have lived, albeit paralyzed.
Was the report about his having been in a car accident true or not? I think I saw conflicting reports and I am not sure. If he had been, I hope the DT is looking at those X-rays, provided he sought medical treatment. With the information we have been given, if his arrest and subsequent treatment was the sole cause of his injuries, the officers are in a big time jam. It takes a tremendous amount of force to inflict these injuries. And FG did himself further damage acting out in the police van, if the reports are true.
If LE is responsible for the initial injury, how much blame or responsibility does FG bear? I think that would be difficult to determine if I was a juror.
