''The FBI and other law enforcement agencies are planning a three-day search in the New Sweden, Maine, area for Stefanie Damron, a 14-year-old girl reported missing by her family last year.

Maine State Police said the search will be conducted from May 2-4 and will include the FBI, state police, Maine Warden Service and volunteers from search and rescue organizations.

"The timing of the searches reflects improved weather conditions and coordination of available resources," state police said in a press release. "The public should expect to see a large law enforcement presence in several areas, including searches on foot, by vehicle, and with the use of drones. These are routine, coordinated efforts, and there is no danger to the public."

''Stefanie’s disappearance has attracted media attention from as far away as Europe. Tips have come in regarding the case from other states and Canada.''

Happy to hear there is a search this weekend. This case is just baffling. I can’t make up my mind as to what may have happened, on the fence in regard to whether she met up with someone or was intentionally disappeared.

I'm on the fence about what happened to Stefanie, too. Their living conditions appeared to be less than ideal, so I can't rule out running away.

What I'd really like to know, if anyone happens to know, is when was the last time a reliable adult outside of her family saw her, like a mail carrier, or neighbor, or store clerk, family acquaintance? We see a lot of cases where a child is reported missing, yet there are no confirmed sightings of that child within weeks, months, or years of them being reported.

She disappeared on a Tuesday. I'm assuming school would've been in session

The family has now put out statement regarding their daughter which outlines a little more about the day she was last seen.

In their statement they said: “Stefanie got into an argument with her sister while we were gone and walked off. We live a half mile back in the woods and our kids are very comfortable in their surroundings so there was nothing to raise flags the first few hours.”

State Police say since Sept. 24, they have gotten help from the FBI’s Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team.

We’re told investigators have conducted many interviews and have followed up on leads in Maine, Canada, and even nationally.

A portion of the family’s statement addresses allegations and accusations the family has faced on social media. Over the last month, people online have made comments regarding the family’s parental decisions.

The family wrote: “Our children are homeschooled and taught the basics and sent to Job Corp for their GEDs. CPS has been in our house verified and confirmed everything. We had nothing to do with this, we just want our baby home.”

The family also confirmed they are working on planning a ground search in New Sweden.

She didn't go to school, she was homeschooled, according to her mom in the post I copied above.

I don't know if she participated in anything with her peers.

ETA: I see someone already responded.

Update on 3-day search: no new developments.

Authorities had announced they would be searching the New Sweden area for Stefanie from Friday through Sunday. That search included personnel from the Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service, FBI, numerous volunteer search-and-rescue organizations and support teams using drones, K9s and horses.

I wonder if they will ever find Stefanie. Will we ever know what happened? It seems unlikely, since everything has left authorities with no new developments or leads.

Volunteers will gather at West Road in New Sweden Saturday at 8 a.m. in hopes of finding 14-year-old Stefanie Damron. Organizers are asking volunteers to come prepared for rugged terrain.
