It makes me so sad imagining how lonely and isolated Valerie must have felt in the months preceding her death, being so far from her family. Looking through the photos her friends and family posted on Facebook, you can really see the difference this man made in her. The light in her eyes had faded. Like others have said, the photo of them with the truck spoke volumes. I'm so angry that her sorry excuse for a husband destroyed a vibrant, beautiful woman and took her from those that actually loved her. I will never understand why men like him are attracted to happy, loving, kind women and then proceed to abuse them until they snuff out that light that attracted them in the first place. Then for him to blame her and smear her all over her father's Facebook when he knew exactly where she was the entire time just fills me with rage.

I'm so sorry Valerie.

His mention of 'submissive' I don't think has to automatically assume they were into BDSM. Some men are just sexist, domineering control freaks who want a woman they can manipulate, control, dominate over.

Relieved to see this. I hope they are looking at the his parents and any other people who might be responsible. RIP Valerie!

I have had interesting exchanges with a supposed family friend who thinks this is a private matter and none of our business. AFTER she was found dead and he was arrested.

His Mom's facebook page has been deleted as well. Would like to add that since Aug. 30 the mom had posted and shared many things. Not a single one of them was about her missing daughter-in-law.

Isn't she the one who told media this situation had already gotten enough publicity? I hope they are looking at the whole situation at that house.

I think he was controlling and off balance. I could see by the tone of his religious FB posts (and the comments that he had gotten her back into church) that he (and family?) might believe they had a right to discipline her in order to make her "better" or "more submissive" to him. If she was exercising her voice or moving away from him, the pressure would get greater and greater. I don't know if the church they were attending is the same as the parent's church but I do wonder about how fundamentalist and rigid the church is. That might lead friends from the church to see this as a "family matter" believing that she died as a result of her sins, blah, blah, blah.

I wish she had gotten away from this monster.
