Misty Not Home Night Haleigh Disappeared?
Putnam County Investigators Release Details Hoping To Pressure Stepmom

"Ronald calls numerous times, Hank says that he answered that call from Ronald, which we know that was made ... It was Ronald saying, 'Go check on Misty,'" Putnam County Maj. Gary Bowling said. "He said he complied with that request and Misty did not answer the door. The house was dark and quiet."

Putnam County investigators got that information last Thursday night during an interview with Hank Croslin Jr. while he was in custody on a grand-theft charge unrelated to the Haleigh Cummings case.

"He tells us that he made a good effort to see if someone was home," Bowling said.

"What we need is for Misty to come down here and tell us the truth," Bowling said.

"We know that it applies pressure where pressure needs to be applied, and that's on Misty," Bowling said. "She needs to tell her attorney that, 'You know we need to go down to the sheriff's office and really lay out in clear terms what I was going from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m."

Misty Croslin-Cummings did not return a phone call from Channel 4, but her attorney, Robert Field, told Laura Mazzeo he questions the credibility of Misty's brother. They have not been getting along and she currently has a restraining order against him.

Field said if they want to talk to Misty Croslin, they should contact him, not try to pressure her by releasing information to the media.

New details released in Haleigh Cummings case
Last Update: 7:13 pm
<snipped>
Detectives involved with the Haleigh Cummings investigation have been tight lipped about any details involving the case. On Tuesday, for the first time, they released the details of an interview conducted with Hank Croslin Jr., Misty Cummings brother. They say he told them he went by Haleigh Cummings’ home the night she disappeared, and no one was there.

This is different from the story Misty Cummings has told police. She has said time and time again that she was home the entire evening on the night Haleigh disappeared.

Misty's Brother Reveals New Details In Haleigh Case

Hank says he stopped by the mobile home around 9:45 p.m., February 9th. But detectives were told no one came to the door.

"He told us he banged on the door," said Maj. Gary Bowling of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. "He said it was dark and no lights were on."

According to Bowling, this is the first time anyone has said they were at Misty and Ronald's home after 7:30 p.m.

"It is surprising that someone would hold that information," Bowling said.

Misty is sticking by her story, telling investigators she was at home with Haleigh and Ronald Cummings, Jr., who was three at the time. She says she was washing a blanket about 10 p.m.

Detectives spoke with Misty over the weekend, but would not reveal what was discussed. Bowling said they are trying to corroborate what Croslin said.

UPDATED: Misty's brother: She wasn't home the night Haleigh Cummings vanished
Her mom believes him, says Misty may have been partying or sleeping off a weekend of partying when he came over
Story updated at 10:22 AM on Wednesday, Sep. 23, 2009
<snipped>
Faced with a choice between children, Lisa Croslin said Tuesday she believes her son’s account that no one appeared to be home when he went looking for his sister, Misty Croslin, who was watching Haleigh Cummings the night she disappeared.

“I believe my son,” Lisa Croslin said her Tennessee home. “I’ll tell anybody that. I know this will kill Misty when she hears it.”

Lisa Croslin said her daughter —who has since married Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings *— may have been asleep after partying that weekend. But she thinks her son is telling the truth.

Ronald Cummings’ attorney said Tuesday that Cummings did not ask Croslin to check where she was and had been in touch with her during the evening.

Terry Shoemaker said Cummings simply called the Croslins just before 9 p.m. to ask if his girlfriend was there. Croslin was not asked to check on his sister in the call that lasted 20 to 30 seconds.

Shoemaker said the two had been in touch throughout the night.

“As far as he knows, they were home,” he said. “He had no reason to think they were not.”
Authorities said phone records show Cummings did make several unanswered calls to her cell phone before calling the Croslins.

“There were numerous attempts to call Misty,” said Maj. Gary Bowling of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. “Unsuccessful attempts.”

Ronald Cummings would not talk Tuesday about any calls.

“That’s something for the police and the lawyers,” Cummings said.

He said his focus remains on finding his daughter.

Bowling said detectives talked with Misty Cummings over the weekend but would not say what was discussed. He said investigators are attempting to corroborate what her brother said.

“If he’s telling the truth, it means a lot,” Bowling said. “We took it for what it is worth.”
Robert Fields, Misty Cummings’ attorney, said she maintains that she was home.

“She told me yesterday she was definitely there,” Fields said Tuesday.

He said she may have been asleep, or that the time Croslin said he was there may be wrong.

He said Misty Cummings was out of town Tuesday and not available.

Greg Page says he and Misty Croslin spent time together just days before Haleigh disappeared. The 29-year-old says his mother introduced him to Misty shortly before Haleigh vanished.

Page told First Coast News, "The weekend before [Haleigh disappeared], Misty came over with a friend, Nay Nay, and we hung out and she left."

Page said he and Misty had a sexual encounter.

Misty has since married Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings.

Page, who goes by the street name 'White Boy Greg,' has been interviewed by investigators several times regarding the Haleigh case and about his relationship with Misty Croslin-Cummings.

Page was arrested Tuesday night and charged with drug possession in Palatka. He told First Coast News police questioned him again about the little girl.

"They just asked me where she was at. I told them, 'I don't know,'" Page explained, "I said if I knew I would've disclosed that information to the cops."

Man claims sexual relationship with Misty Cummings

<snipped>
For the first time we are hearing from a man who says he was with Misty Croslin-Cummings in the days before Haleigh disappeared and Gregory Page also known as 'White Boy Greg' says he wasn't just with her, he had a sexual relationship with her.

"It was brief. It was one time and then she left. It was a mistake. I wish I would have never gotten caught up with the girl because it has just been turmoil since," said Page.

Page says this wasn't the first time he was interviewed about the case. He says he's been questioned several times before and even took a polygraph. He says he passed.

Action News asked the Putnam County Sheriff's Office about Page.

They would not comment whether he's been interviewed or if he took a polygraph.

"I have a daughter about the same age. If I knew anything about her I would have told. That's not my kind of thing." he said. "If anyone knows me they know I love kids and I don't do anything to hurt anybody."

A strange letter written by Kristina Rene "Nay Nay" Prevatt from the Putnam County Jail to her to boyfriend pertaining to Haleigh Cummings' disapperance was made public by private investigator William Cobra Staubs. Prevatt is a partying acquaintance of Misty Croslin-Cummings.

The source of this letter is Prevatt's boyfriend, Donnie Spells. Spells showed the letter to the mother of Greg "White Boy" Page yesterday and then read the letter to Staubs over the phone from the woman's house. Page's mother scanned the letter and sent it to Staubs and Staubs then sent it to 97.3 The Sky.

A portion of this letter date 9/18/09 refers to a signed sworn affidavit by "JoePsycho" who said Misty, Haleigh and Jr were with Nay Nay Prevatt at a party the night Haleigh disappeared. Prevatt's letter to Spells says according to the affidavit, Haleigh ate some oxycontin and died. Prevatt relays to Spells in the message the again, according to the affidavit, Greg Page put the child in a black bag and dumped it in a pond at the Mondex.

Inmate's Letter Links Drugs To Haleigh
Missing Florida Girl Last Seen In February
POSTED: Thursday, September 24, 2009
UPDATED: 12:46 pm EDT September 24, 2009
<snipped>
A handwritten note from an inmate known to hang out with Haleigh Cummings' stepmother states that someone is alleging the missing girl obtained some Oxycontin and died.

Kristina Prevatt, an inmate known to hang out with Misty Cummings, who was in the Satsuma home in February when Haleigh vanished, sent the letter to her boyfriend. The letter became public when a Gainesville radio station obtained it from a private investigator.

The letter, dated Sept. 18, claims a man named Joe told authorities that Misty Cummings, Prevatt and a man named Greg were at a party when Haleigh got hold of some drugs and died. According to the letter, Joe said Haleigh's body was put in a bag, which was placed in Prevatt's car and taken to a pond.

Putnam County sheriff's deputies said the letter is not worth a comment.

The brother of a missing north Florida girl's babysitter was released from Putnam County jail around 12:30 this afternoon.

Hank Croslin Jr., the brother of Misty Cummings, was arrested last week on a grand theft charge. His bond, which was $50,000, had been lowered, although it is unclear how much he had to pay to be released.

At the same time, there is a warrant out of Putnam County for the arrest of Lisa Croslin, the mother of Croslin and Cummings, on forgery charges. She may have moved to Tennessee.

Letter Claims Haleigh Died Of Drug Overdose
Friend Of Misty Cummings Wrote Letter On Friday
POSTED: 5:19 am EDT September 24, 2009
UPDATED: 11:04 am EDT September 24, 2009

Kristina Renee Prevatt, a friend of Cummings, was jailed on drug and other charges. Prevatt apparently wrote the letter to her boyfriend, claiming investigators interrogated her about the Haleigh case last week.

The letter also indicated detectives have another sworn affidavit from another acquaintance of Cummings, Joe Pytco, that explained exactly how Haleigh died.

The letter continued that detectives had taken Prevatt's car from a junk yard for DNA testing. In the letter, Prevatt maintained she was not with Misty that night. She was, in fact, with her boyfriend.

Prevatt is 19 years old and has a lengthy criminal record, ranging from possession of cocaine, stalking and a probation violation.

UPDATED: Haleigh Cummings: Nancy Grace to look at Misty's story -- but are Misty and Ron still together?
posted by halboedeker on Sep 24, 2009 3:36:33 PM
<snipped>
Nancy Grace will focus on the search for Haleigh Cummings next week.

The HLN host will concentrate on Misty Croslin Cummings, who was baby-sitting the child when the little girl vanished. The show promises exclusive interviews with Misty and her husband, Ronald Cummings, Haleigh's dad.

"What is she keeping to herself?" a release for the program asks.

Haleigh will be spotlighted at 8 p.m. Oct. 1 on HLN.

The latest in the search? A letter from a jail inmate, Kristina Renee Prevatt, who is a friend of Misty Cummings. Prevatt, who is in the Putnam County Jail on drug charges, says that Haleigh died when the girl took Oxycontin while adults were partying, WESH-Channel 2 reported. Prevatt says the child's body was dumped at a pond.

Terese Nieves, Haleigh's grandmother, dismissed this new information in an appearance on Grace's show last night. Nieves says the little girl didn't like to take medicine.

The Putnam County sheriff's department has dismissed the jailhouse letter as well. "It's a moot point with us right now," said Rick Ryan, the sheriff's chief of staff.

WFTV-Channel 9 reported tonight that investigators believe Misty could be taking a break in Orlando. "We're told Misty, who is now married to Haleigh's father, has left Ron Cummings and Putnam County after an apparent argument with him," anchor Martie Salt said. "That apparently happened after her brother recently told investigators she was not home the night Haleigh disappeared, as she insists he was." That's a lot of apparents, isn't it?

Chief 'Appalled' By Letter On CNN Show
Talk Show Host Showed Letter From Inmate Regarding Haleigh Cummings
POSTED: Thursday, September 24, 2009
UPDATED: 6:41 pm EDT September 24, 2009
<snipped>
Channel 4 asked Putnam County Chief Deputy Rick Ryan about the letter on Thursday and the report on "Nancy Grace."

"We know about the letter," Ryan said. "There was some issue about draining of the pond. The pond was drained before the letter. Quite frankly, we feel like it's irresponsible journalism to put this on the air that this letter is the gospel.

"I'm very disappointed, and quite frankly, appalled."

When asked if the affidavit mentioned in the letter is true, Ryan said, "Again, we don't care anything about this letter, and we're not going to waste our time on it. Even if it was our theory, we're just not going to talk about it."

Ryan said every time something new, fact or fiction, surfaces, he gets frantic phone calls from Haleigh's family.

"Look at what it's doing to the family," Ryan said. "It's a rollercoaster ride for the families, and just because one or two TV shows says it is, doesn't mean that it's happening."

Ryan said police are still investigating with the hope that Haleigh is still alive.

"Basically, because of this irresponsible journalism, they killed this little girl off in the media," Ryan said. "We're still of the mindset that this child is alive, and we're going to continue to pursue it as such until we know. Otherwise, frankly, it's perpetuating more drama."

Hank Croslin Jr. Released From Jail
A member of the Croslin family who was locked up on unrelated charges is now out of jail.

Hank Croslin Jr., the brother of Misty Cummings, was arrested last week, accused of stealing a gun.

He was released Thursday on bond.

Jailhouse Letter Stirs Up Haleigh Discussion

Prevatt says in the letter that detectives have asked her about Haleigh being at the party, about the child taking OxyContin, and dying from it. She also mentions in the letter it's been mentioned to her that "Greg" -- a friend of hers -- had disposed of the body.

That Greg is expected to be Greg Page. He is also known as White Boy Greg. He knows Prevatt and Haleigh's stepmother, Misty Croslin-Cummings

Page told First Coast News the theory is new to him.

"I don't know anything about a party," Page said.

He said he was not with Misty Croslin-Cummings the night Haleigh disappeared and has never met Haleigh.

"I don't know anything about Haleigh. I've never seen her," Page told First Coast News.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the letter is meaningless.

Chief Rick Ryan of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said, "We have absolutely no interest in the letter. The drama perpetuated by the release of this is completely irresponsible."

The letter was discussed on national television Wednesday night.

The sheriff's office will not comment on the specifics in the letter.

The sheriff's office has previously reported detectives have interviewed Prevatt.

Letter Claims Haleigh Overdosed On Oxycontin
Thursday, September 24, 2009 6:47:17 PM
<snipped>
Putnam County Sheriff's deputies said the release of the letter by the radio station was done before verifying those details.

"This is pretty significant. This is basically saying that this child died as a result of an overdose and that would be news to us," said Rick Ryan from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

This past weekend, deputies came to the Mondex pond searching for clues.

Deputies said they knew about the letter and its contents before it was released to the public.

However, they said the letter is not the reason that they drained the pond this past weekend.

"Absolutely not. This was a totally separate tip that we got and we were searching for specific evidence," Ryan said.

Deputies said they did not find any evidence. In fact, they said they are moving on to other clues in hopes of finding the 6-year-old missing now for eight months.

”Anything that was in that letter we've already .. We're not naïve. We already looked into it, so it's insignificant to us, the letter is at this point," Ryan said.

Jailhouse letter says woman asked by cops about possible Haleigh Cummings overdose
Inmate denies being involved in girl's disappearance
Story updated at 5:58 PM on Thursday, Sep. 24, 2009

William "Cobra" Staubs, a private investigator and bounty hunter, provided a copy of the letter to the Times-Union. He said it's from 19-year-old Kristina Renee "Naynay" Prevatt, who was partying with Misty Cummings the weekend before Haleigh disappeared.

Prevatt is in jail on several charges including drugs, smuggling contraband into jail and cyber-stalking and harassment.

The allegations relayed in the letter are among the "many theories" investigators have checked, said Chief Deputy Rick Ryan of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

"We have been in close contact with all the associates of Misty," he said.

He said investigartors were not aware of a particular party mentioned where the 5-year-old may have ingested drugs.

"If anybody knows about this so-called party, we would like to know," he said. "This group of folks were a party crowd."

Prevatt's car also was taken from the junkyard to search for evidence, the letter to Donnie said. Why would he make something like that up and put her in the middle of a homicide investigation, the letter asked in angrier terms. "You know I was with you that night!"

Ryan said the Sheriff's Office located Prevatt's car for a search "weeks ago."

Jailhouse letter about Haleigh case revealed
September 24, 2009
Last Update: 7:01 pm
<snipped>
Every piece of mail that goes through the Putnam County jail is screened by the corrections department.

One of those letters that was screened was written by Kristina Prevatt, a friend of Misty Croslin-Cummings, who goes by the nickname, Nay Nay.

The jail director told Action News the corrections department intercepted the letter because it contained the word Haleigh.

They say they found out about the letter after the pond was drained.

They are calling the story in the letter a possible theory, and say they're hopeful it is not true.

"It's giving an indication this child is dead. Our hope is the child is still alive," said Putnam County Sheriff's Office Chief Rick Ryan.

Prevatt's sister, Kelly Dodd, showed Action news a similar letter Thursday that was written to Prevatt's family. It is addressed to 'Nay Nay's' mom, Diane Prevatt.

"Me, Misty, White Boy Greg and Ronald's kid were at Chad's and Haleigh got a hold of some pills and died and White Boy put her in the trunk and we dropped her off in a pond, which is a lie," wrote Prevatt.

Dodd says her sister is telling the truth. "I think she was at her baby daddy's house," she said. "I don't think she had anything to do with it. I didn't think Misty did either because Misty was my friend, I knew her personally, really well since she was 14 and I didn't think something like this would happen," said Dodd.

Thursday afternoon Hank Croslin Junior, Misty's brother, was released from jail. He was serving time for a Grand Theft charge.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office is taking CNN's "Nancy Grace" to task for a report Haleigh Cummings disappearance.

They showed a jailhouse letter from a female inmate who is friends with Misty Cummings, Haleigh's stepmom.

Putnam County Chief Deputy Rick Ryan called that a poor decision.

"We know about the letter. There was some issue about draining of the pond. The pond was drained before the letter. Quite frankly, we just feel like it's irresponsible journalism to put this out on the air that is the gospel," Ryan said that the don't think the letter is true.

Letter From Stepmom's Friend Released In Haleigh Case
Posted: 11:07 am EDT September 24, 2009
Updated: 6:44 pm EDT September 24, 2009
<snipped>
The last person believed to have seen six-year-old Haleigh Cummings alive has left her hometown area. But detectives said they're keeping a close eye on Misty Croslin-Cummings, the teenaged-step mom.

Misty Croslin-Cummings, Haleigh's stepmother, has taken off for a few days. Eyewitness News was told she was in Orlando, possibly at Universal Studios, to clear her head after she and Haleigh's father Ronald Cummings had a disagreement.

"You think someone knows something?" asked WFTV reporter Kathi Belich.

"Absolutely and it's somebody right here locally," replied Chief Rick Ryan of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

They confirmed for Eyewitness News that Ron Cummings then called Misty's brother and asked him to go to their home to check on Misty and Haleigh.

Misty's brother just told investigators last week, after the evidence surfaced that when he went to check their mobile home, no one was there.

"Did he tell Ron that though?" asked Kathi Belich. "Didn't he tell Ron that no one was home?"

"We're not gonna get into the conversations back and forth," Ryan replied.

A number of the friends, who were supposedly at a party with Misty the night Haleigh disappeared, are or were in jail. And one of them was allegedly Misty's on-again off-again ex-boyfriend at that time.
