To date, no information regarding EC's psychological/psychiatric evaluations has been revealed. Several psychologists and psychiatrists will testify during the Miller hearing. I feel certain that EC's mental health will figure prominently in the Judge's sentencing decision. I don't condone EC's actions, but I firmly believe that this young man has serious mental health issues that had not been addressed prior to the school shooting. Reports about recent erratic behavior while in custody suggest that EC's mental health issues have not been successfully addressed in the jail setting. Perhaps a specified period of time in a psychiatric facility should be part of the sentencing process. JMO

looks like jail has given Jennifer plenty of time to hone her motherly instincts. Too bad she couldn't have found it in her to acknowledge/address her own child's mental health issues before buying him a gun that killed 4 peers.

Watching the Miller Hearing: OMG they are reading his various writings, journals and texts- He is evil to the bone- TO THE BONE- He must never ever get out of prison. Sorry but with a mind like that, planning to kill, rape and torture innocents- for which he got great pleasure thinking about it-- No, there is no coming back from that- no getting better from that, no rehabilitation from that. He planned that school shooting for months and planned to rape, torture and kill a girl, but did not go through with. He researched things like what prisons do they have in Michigan, what states have the death penalty: he planned the school shooting, knew he would get caught and knew he would go to prison. He is hoping some wimpy judge will give him a lighter sentence.

He then described the joy he got (also made a video) of killing and torturing baby birds from a nest near his home: He took an ax, cut it in half and did horrible awful things to these birds- I can't go on with the description- I am in tears. He texted someone and said he watched the 8 minute video of his handy work and "LMAO".

Please don't tell me someone like this will ever ever be redeemable because I will never believe it. I had to stop listening about the torturing of birds. It is horrid.

Now they are focused on Ethan - He has not looked up once. I wonder if it is because he was instructed not to watch? It seems like, in all of his journaling, this is something he would revel in being able to see it all again. He wrote about enjoying watching the videos of himself killing the birds.

From the details I am reading here, I agree, he may be beyond rehabilitation. I will leave it to the experts to decide, I hope both sides have expert psychiatric testimony. If they can claim that profiles like his indicate a poor prognosis for rehabilitation for him, even at his age, then life in prison without parole would be understandable. But even if he gets life in prison with the possibility of parole, the parole board can turn him down. And would he survive 20 to 30 years in prison? Maybe not.

I am glad he is in court and has to be there with the families of his victims. People are not birds. This is no laughing matter now. He's soon to find that out. No escaping prison, and it won't be like the jail where they are keeping him.

I think he is enjoying this hearing- reliving the devastation he caused and I believe he is relishing in it- I am shocked at his level of depravity: I did not expect him to be this evil.

I know someone in that courtroom today and I just cannot even imagine being there and having to see what the media is (thankfully) unable to televise. I watch in solidarity to bear witness for those kids who didn't make it out of school that day.

The testimony about the birds and the text messages that he sent were so shocking. I appreciate that they made a point to say that the person he was text messaging did NOT receive any of the messages that he sent immediately prior to the school shooting, but those were from MONTHS before. I cannot imagine being on the receiving end of those texts and videos and not bringing them to an adult's attention. Not blaming his friend at all, obviously, but it is just shocking to see the level of evil he was openly sharing with someone else.

No people are not birds: that was just a prelude to what he wanted to do to humans, and in fact carried out his plan at the high school. But what he did to those birds and the enjoyment he got from doing that tells you the depth of his depravity: Personally, I don't believe that type of depravity can ever be rehabilitated. I believe he mentions Jeffrey Dahmer in one of texts, in a way that he admired Dahmer.

I believe he was the senior/lead officer from Oxford PD on the case (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

Obviously the defense was pointing out how terrible and negligent his parents were/are-- I am glad they are being held accountable for what happened in this case. However, as far as what Ethan did that day at Oxford High School, the act of pulling the trigger is on him. He couldn't control himself----he just had to shoot those people- innocents----

Lots of people (unfortunately) have bad, even worse parents: they have been sexually abused, beat up, starved and they have watched their drugged out, alcoholic parents fight, argue and deteriorate as a couple and as people. However, there are not many people that do what Ethan Crumbley did that day- even with a horrendous home situation and horrid parents.

Ethan planned the massacre of innocent children that day at the school: He practiced on birds He could have chosen to stop that action, but remember what he said about looking at that dark website while he is in jail: he just couldn't control himself. That tells you all you need to know about him. Why would anyone believe no matter how many years he spends in prison he will be rehabilitated: That said, I still don't see a judge giving him LWOP.

People ultimately want to be believe that a 15 year old could be rehabilitated- it is too depressing to think some people are just too far gone for rehabilitation.

I needed the lunch break as I had not done much prior to the hearing starting at 9:00. After watching this grueling testimony, I will be glad to get out of the house for a nice dinner this evening.

Prosecution is much more organized than defense. JMO
