Detroit — Investigators have arrested a man in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl, Detroit police said.

"We are working with our law enforcement partners to bring additional information on this arrest shortly," the department said in a tweet Thursday.

The suspect was arrested at his workplace Thursday morning, a police source familiar with the investigation said. The arrest comes four days after police say the Farmington Hills girl was raped in a Detroit house between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday...

Police reportedly executing search warrants at 3 locations Thursday

An arrest has reportedly been made in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Detroit.

A source on Thursday morning told Local 4 News that an arrest has been made after a young girl was abducted in Farmington Hills on Sunday and taken to a Detroit home where she was sexually assaulted. The source did not reveal the identity of the arrestee or which agency arrested the individual.

The case is being investigated by Detroit and Farmington Hills police departments, as well as the FBI...

The girl said she couldn’t get out of the car, and the man took her to an unknown home, authorities said. He took her inside and assaulted her, officials said.

When the man left the room, the girl was able to escape, police said. She ran into a Good Samaritan who stopped her and called 911, according to authorities.

Police said the man kidnapped a 9-year-old girl Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Grand River Avenue, and then sexually assaulted her at a home on Detroit’s west side. She escaped later that day.

“We are here today because of the courage and tenacity of a little girl. She’s only 9 years old. She’s not even five feet tall and doesn’t weight 100 pounds,” said Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald. “Despite what she endured, she stayed calm. When reports about this despicable crime were initially reported, I wasn't sure that I wanted to start a discussion thread. I knew about the search for a suspect and waited until there was an arrest to bring the case to Websleuths. It sickens me to even think about what this poor little girl endured at the hands of a repeat sex offender who never should have been let out of prison. ADM was obviously not rehabilitated during his prison stay and emerged to commit the same crimes within months of his release. I shudder when I consider that this perp has children of his own with another on the way! This man is a danger to society and should spend the remainder of his life behind bars

...Police say the 9-year-old girl left her home in Farmington Hills on her own free will on Sunday, Oct. 10 and walked around for hours, not knowing where she was. The girl reportedly stopped in the area of 8 Mile Road and Grand River Avenue, where a man pulled up to her and asked if she needed help. The girl got into the man’s car, and was unable to exit the car after realizing he was driving in the wrong direction, police said.

The man reportedly drove the girl to a house in Detroit, bound her and sexually assaulted her. Police believe the home is in the general area of 8 Mile Road and Berg Road.

The girl was able to escape from the man and was found walking outside wearing only a blanket by a Good Samaritan who called 911. She was taken to a children’s hospital, and is reportedly in good physical health, police said Wednesday. A missing persons report was filed on the young girl in Farmington Hills after she left home...

Paraphrasing from live report on WDIV: The little girl and her mother allegedly had an argument about her spending too much time on a game device. The family was going to take an afternoon nap, but the child left her home with her blanket and pillow and was believed to have been looking to replace the video game.
