MI - Bianca Jones, 2, Detroit, 2 Dec 2011 - #4 - *D. Lane guilty*

Wow 5 Months Already!

I can understand what your saying here in regards to Biankas behavior/denial. I've stated the same thing myself over the past months I can not even image the feelings/thoughts she must be dealing with.

Not trying to Knock Banika in any way. I feel so very sorry for her, but the sad reality is.... Someday the truth will have to set in....whatever that truth may be ...and those emotions will have to be delt with :( I just hope she can have some Justice to ease the pain :jail: :gavel:

For me....I have a much shorter temper and patients, think I would have hit my anger by now

I didn't think you were knocking her. I just used that expression for a lack of better words. Maybe it's the decades/generations of family being Cubs fans that gives me patience, lol. Lord knows after 100 years we have to have some patience, so sending some Cub fan patience dust to everyone as we follow this case. :) Justice will come for Bianca, it just takes time.

I follow you cubby, it just frustrates me that the inability to deal with the reality of this situation prevents her from being Bianca's fierce advocate in the pursuit of justice for her child.

It's not my wish to be mean or hurtful towards a woman who has already gone through so much.

Just venting my frustrations I guess.

Oh, I agree and fully hear you. It is very very frustrating that she is currently unable to be Bianca's fierce advocate as this case goes through trial and works it's way towards justice. Incredibly frustrating. I'm really hoping that by the time the actual trial starts, Banika will be there, or be in a better place to be that fierce advocate for her daughter.

I didn't think anyone was trying to be mean or hurtful towards Banika. I was just hoping to express some thoughts on why it might take her longer to "get there" - to the place many are already at. I could not imagine losing my child in a similiar manner and having the strength to go through with the court proceedings, etc. I'm sure I would find a way, but it sure would be difficult to seperate that overwhelming grief from being strong and doing what had to be done. Maybe this is the only way Banika can keep that overwhelming grief at bay at this time....

What amazes me more than Banika's current mindset is D'Andres willingness to continue with his fictional story about the circumstances surrounding his daughters disappearance even when that means his other children and family members will be taking the stand with information that contradicts his claims.

I mean how selfish can someone be to continue with a fictional story considering all it has and will continue to put their family through. Un.freaking.real.

Just thinking about Bianca today. Wishing she were with family who love her and could keep her safe.

Justice is coming, Sweetie. He won't be able to ever hurt anyone ever again. Not where he's going...

Thinking about Banika and hoping that she will have the strength to face the truth and accept the fact that Bianca's father is most likely responsible for the little girl's demise. D'Andre Lane will be in court again this Tuesday, May 8, for the continuation of the hearing that will determine whether or not there is enough evidence for a trial. I hope so, and I hope he is convicted and gets sentenced to many years behind bars. :moo:

Oh, I think there is not only enough evidence for a trial, but more than enough evidence for a conviction.

I, too, am praying for Banika to gain some acceptance. No one wants to believe their child's other parent could be responsible for the death of their child. Mya Lyons mother has faced it.

The following is an exerpt from Mya Lyons mother when the childs father was charged. There is little media on the trial or where the trial currently stands.

After the hearing, tears streamed down the face of Mya's mother, Ericka Barnes. “I’m glad that I finally got some closure,” she said. “Hearing it was terrible, but the evidence spoke for itself. I believe there is justice, and there was justice today in that courtroom.”

(warning graphic details of Mya's injuries at link: )

The difference in the two cases, of course Mya's body being found/recovered immediately.

Praying for progress today in getting Justice and Truth for Bianca. :please:

:jail: :gavel:

Curious as to how long this prelim hearing is going to drag out?? :waiting: This lull in the hearing dates is frustrating :( I wonder how long we'll have to wait for the next court date??

D'Andre Lane told police his 2-year-old daughter Bianca Jones was suffering from a cold, diarrhea and had difficulty falling asleep the night before he was allegedly carjacked at gunpoint and his daughter disappeared.
...
Lane, 32, was shown in the video telling police officers the toddler had soft stool and had fallen out of the bed before 1 a.m. the night before her disappearance. The girl, Lane said, had trouble falling asleep and he kept her up with him until 3:30 a.m.

Lane said he was hanging out with his nephew and at one point hit Bianca "popping her on the butt."

"I doubt it even hurt like that," Lane told police. "I was just letting her know she did something bad."

Lane went on to tell officers that after she had a bathroom accident later, he spanked the girl on her butt and legs with a paddle he made with a wooden stick and duct tape. That's when Bianca hit her head by accident, he said.

"She nodded out and got up," Lane said.

Even if the carjacking really happened, WHAT the modsnipmodsnip?!?!?!?

What kind of a modsnip would keep a sick toddler with a cold and diarrhea who hit her head up until 3.3.0 am and spank her as punishment for a bathroom accident, then take her out at 7.45 am in the morning after four hours of sleep at most to go attend to some business??

Lane, in a five-hour videotaped interview with Detroit Police, said his toddler, Bianca Jones, fell out of bed around 1 a.m. and hit her head and hadn't slept well.

"I was keeping her up. She kept on trying to nod out," Lane told Detroit Police Officer John Quincy while questioned at a Detroit Police precinct, according to a transcript of the interview read by prosecutors.

"She was kind of out if it a little bit. She didn't really sleep too well."

Lane's girlfriend, Anjali Lyons, previously testified that she woke early Dec. 2 to the child's screams as Lane used the stick to beat Bianca's bare flesh after she urinated in the bed. Later the same morning, Lane carried a silent Bianca to his car. She was covered with an animal print blanket.

"She was cold. I made sure I had a blanket and she was covered up," Lane told police during the interview. "It was kind of cold in (the car)."

BBM. This may be the one true thing he told about the morning.

I wonder where he put Bianca's body because the story about her falling off the bed and hitting her head sounds a bit like a cover story for paternally induced skull injury if her body is found.

Lane's attorney, Terry L. Johnson, noted Tuesday that Lane repeatedly told the officers during the interview that he no longer wanted to talk. Quincy acknowledged Lane said he didn't want to talk, but added Lane "didn't ask for an attorney."

I hope this won't cause any problems in the trial...

But it's telling imo. A father's precious little two-year old is abducted and wouldn't call 911 and five hours of answering questions is too much trouble for him. Whatever.

Thanks for the links, Donjeta.

Ok, HOLD UP! This is certainly the first we have heard about Bianca hitting her head. And she was "out of it"? What the what? Yep, he is covering up for a skull fracture that HE inflicted, I bet. Because I can't see a 2 year old getting a skull fracture from falling out of a bed. I guess if they landed JUST right, maybe.

And why, if poor Bianca was sick and had diarrhea, was he HITTING her for having accidents? SHE WAS 2 YEARS OLD!!!! How is this "normal" parenting? I tell ya, I would llike to go to that jail, give D'andre a laxative, not let him use the bathroom and then when HE has an accident, hit him with a BIG OLE STICK!!

Sorry. I am just SO SO angry right now. This case just gets worse. :( Mods you can snip or delete if necessary.

When will it be decided if there is enough evidence to stand trial? Anyone know?

If D'Andre were an innocent man there was never a reason to ask if he could leave or state he did not want to answer questions about his child allegedly being carjacked. That line of questioning, imo, only helps the prosecutions case.

From this article:

The preliminary exam is expected to continue on Thursday, although they may continue on Wednesday because they were behind schedule on Tuesday.

So, I guess either tomorrow or Thursday.

ETA: I worded that oddly. The exam continues tomorrow or Thurs., then not sure if that will finish it off or not. I do believe the prosecution initially said they had like 23 witnesses to present, I haven't kept track of how many have already testified.

Thanks Melissasmom, for some reason I thought today was the final day of the prelimary info/exam.

Is it customary for the judge to make a decision upon the completion of the preliminary testimony? Or does the decision usually come sometime later? Anyone know?

According to this article: http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/...urt/-/4714498/12868618/-/y7jmldz/-/index.html

A ruling Thursday will determine is (sic) Lane should stand trial on murder and child abuse charges.

So hopefully we'll know about charges on Thursday.

The prosecutor initially stated he thought the prelim would last about 3 days, so that is probably where you got that from. :)

I have never seen a preliminary exam last more than ONE day and the judge always made his decision immediately.
With this cse seeming to be out of the ordinary in length, maybe he will need to take more time? But feasibly, he COULD take a 20 minute recess and come back with his decision. I am not sure what the time frame is for this decision (ie.The judge HAS TO decide within 48 hrs or whatever).

ETA: LOL I typed this, then saw ingra1327's post. She sure explained it with a lot less words than I did. :)

Now I'm kind of wondering if poor little Bianca got beaten up because she wet her bed/soiled herself, or if the toileting accident happened because she was losing consciousness due to getting a head injury from being beaten up.

  • #619
We first from D'Andre that Bianca might have bruises on her legs when she was found. Now we hear that she would also show signs of a head injury from falling out of head. In her father's care, Bianca didn't have a chance for survival :furious: This little girl is in a much better place now as she dances and sings with the angels.
