Still catching up so my apologies if already answered(if so disregard and i Will soon catch up to answer and then delete my post) ..
Re: February 2008 ..Carnel 1month old is removed from mothers custody and placed in Foster care..the new video states that thes 2008 court records were received from the Isabella co Probate Court.. why would this be publicly available?. My understanding is that CPS would be who would make uch decisions nd place a child into foster care.. so why r these court docs available and are filed through the county probate court?

With these court records being available to the public does anyone know where we could view them? ...I'm very curious to the circumstance of how exactly that the courts became awae and then actually involved in Carnels custody needed to be removed from his teen mom?

Is there any further docs or info bout Jaimees substance abuse? What substance and when the abuse stopped, or if it stopped?

TIA:)

I believe this is one of the most insightful things KC has said

This is MY page so... I'll make my comments here! Question: How many "healthy" parents live on the Rez? Whatever their "issues" (and we know there are plenty)... That gives NO ONE a license to kill! I have lived here for over 40 years... Should I start listing the abused, battered and dishonored women on the Rez? AND... did all of these women "want" there children dead too? If you take the time to educate yourself on the HISTORY of our community and begin to understand why we struggle... you would start to understand why it may be hard for these women to find the strength to "get out of" the mess they are in. Until you walk a mile in ones shoes... judge not!

I'm way behind in my reading but just wanted to address this post.

Is the "Rez" any different than the rest of society with struggling women?

I'm not sure I understand his point. Is he saying because of the history of the "Rez" more women and children are abused?

Will someone help me understand because I'm just not getting it.

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — A spokesman said members of Carnel Chamberlain's family are supportive of his mother, Jaimee Chamberlain, though upset about events that happened before the 4-year-old’s death.

“We certainly can’t condone the actions of either adults in this situation,” Kevin Chamberlain said. “You just can’t condone it. Does the family believe that (Jaimee) wants her child dead? No.”

Jaimee Chamberlain revealed to investigators that she witnessed her now ex-boyfriend, Anthony Bennett, abuse her son, Carnel Chamberlain, weeks before the 4-year-old went missing, according to the FBI.

“Was she at fault? Certainly," Kevin Chamberlain said. "We’re not going to sit here and try to defend her.”

I was MIA for a couple of days, no power and sweltering heat. I'm still stuck on a statement JC made on NG the other day. When Nancy asked how she could "hook up" with this guy, she naively stated that it was because she trusted her brother, who introduced him to her. It's as though her brother's word was enough for her. She believed him and not her own eyes. Not too bright a person for whatever reason.

He's also very vocal about JC's lack of protecting Carnel on his fb page. He refers to Carnel as his little cousin.

It seems like a stretch to challenge her intelligence because she trusted her brother.

Yes, and yes. There are others here who can speak to this with more authority, but generally the claim (backed up by pretty comprehensive evidence from psychologists, sociologists, etc) is that the First Nations genocides began as large-scale physical annihilations (Indian Wars, smallpox in blankets) and then became the deliberate destruction of language, culture and family and social relationship structures (again, this is very well documented and formed the cornerstone of other 20th-century genocidal programs as well, from the Nazis to the Balkans to Rwanda and now Syria).

Suddenly, peoples and societies that had been self-sufficient, highly sophisticated in terms of language, culture, land management and trade, became isolated and dependent, rudderless and powerless, and lacked the old cultural frameworks from which to heal and move forward (again, all sorts of specific examples, the residential schools and forced adoptions in Canada are some). Addiction, violence, suicide and other social ills skyrocketed -- on some of the rezs in Manitoba and Ontario today, addiction rates to opiates can top 80% -- and relative isolation and lack of access to social services meant that these problems tended to be harder to fix, because they became normalized through their wide incidence and filtered through VERY complicated relationships between families, clans, band councils and so on.

So that's part of what he's saying. It may well be the case that now this tribe (as many locals have said) is economically healthy and forward-looking and well-managed, with decent resources for coping with things like DV -- but it, like native peoples in NA generally, must cope with a long history in which addiction and violence became entrenched and normalized -- meaning that responses to it are not necessarily the same as in places/among groups where these problems are relatively scarce and can be dealt with decisively.

He's pretty clear that he isn't defending JC -- but there is an important and longstanding context for her behaviour (as described by her) that has real bearing on the case, both as a barometer for the health of a people and as partial explanation as to WHY what happened might have happened. I think it's fine and reasonable to note that a great wrong has been done, but also be interested in understanding (in this case) what the particular context was for that wrong.

It seems like a stretch to challenge her intelligence because she trusted her brother.

One of her brothers was incarcerated for assault. The other one was actively warning her to stay away from AB. So I wonder which one she was talking about.

My big brother loves me a lot. But once he introduced me to a friend of his who turned out to be a full blown nutt case. At some point I had to believe my own eyes and not my brother's well meaning introduction.

Carnal's mom saw him being beaten by AB, with her own eyes. So it was not very intelligent to take her brother's introduction over the evidence she witnesses with her own eyes and ears. JMO

Bennett is to appear before U.S. District Magistrate Charles E. Binder at 3 p.m. today for a detention hearing. As Bennett was detained without bond Friday, today's hearing is to determine whether or not he can be released. The magistrate typically evaluates this based on a defendant's flight risk and the potential danger he or she poses to the community.

Wasn't one of his charges, FLEEING from a LE Officer?

Is this all happening in federal court?

I hope he gets granted bail. He is so much safer in jail right now than he is on the Rez. Countless people want him dead and my heart sure wouldn't break if they got their way with him.

How come he has not been charged with murder?

katydid, thanks for saying it better than I did! It's like when my sister set me up for a date with a guy who, first thing off, told me he was a hit man for the mob! No second date, thanks. I figured that out all by myself.

What frightens me more about the whole NG interview was how much damaging information about herself and AB. What was she thinking?

How come he has not been charged with murder?

They already have him on the other assaults on Carnel. LE won't charge him until they've tied all the evidence up in a pretty package to present to the grand jury.

As for bail, I doubt he'll get any as he is being held on assault charges on a child who was murdered on his watch. Once charged with murder, discovery kicks in and the clock starts ticking. Better to wait.

And honestly I hope that the opinions expressed by HER OWN FAMILY mean much more to her than us "strangers" on the Internet. I hope she can break the cycle...albeit far too late for Carnel...maybe for another child...
