BBM... what info would lead them to include Ohio and Indiana in their search and not expand beyond that?

Simplest explanation is that Ohio and Indiana border Michigan to the south.

Sounds like they think she might have taken off willing with someone.... yet the 30K reward make it sound like they know harm has come to her...

The reward has been posted for information that will help find Chelsea. I would assume this means that if someone knows that Chelsea "ran off with someone", this would be reported to authorities.

I'm not sure what to make of the comment about Chelsea not being hurt. Presumably, this means that someone else didn't hurt her, but within the text of that article is the link for this media report that suggests that Chelsea was hurt at the party.

MONROE, MI -- Police revealed new information in the case of missing 22-year-old Chelsea Bruck on Wednesday.

In an afternoon news conference, Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said Bruck suffered injuries hours before she was last seen. "About 12:45 a.m. Chelsea was walking around and ran into a wooden post and suffered a cut on the top of her nose and a smaller cut on her forehead," said Sheriff Malone...

I feel that article is very misleading.

I agree OS that it is worded in a way that suggests CB left willingly, but given all the circumstances no one believes that to be the case.

I do not for one minute think CB would have run off given how close she is to her family and the celebration of her sisters fast approaching nuptials.

A poorly written story with misleading update, IMO.

I believe Chelsea actually left the party "willingly" but something happened after the vehicle left that location. If she was expecting a ride home, she did not make it. Perhaps a sexual encounter she rebuffed turned ugly? Or she was taken to another location we have no clue about. Other than a minor cut or scrape, there is no physical evidence of trauma on the party premises --- no major blood scene, no pieces of clothing, no disturbed ground to indicate a struggle, etc. Once away from that location, there are many possibilities without clues.

I'm still not sure on that, unless they have an eyewitness who saw it and came forward. There is still that guy in the one picture who just happens to have a cut on HIS forehead. That would be an awfully odd coincidence. If they are still going by a phone call where someone said Chelsea called and said she had run into a pole, I still believe it is possible that the person misheard and Chelsea said that someone she was with ran into a pole. JMO, though.

To clarify I do not think she "disappeared" willingly.

I don't have the impression anyone believes she left willingly, dmc43613.

It just seems impossible that there is absolutely nothing indicative of what happened. No confirmation of anyone knowing who the person is she left the area with, no indication she was worried or upset, no idea how well she knew the person she left with, no sightings after leaving the party area. Just nothing at all, it seems, as an outsider. Someone has to know something, even the slightest idea. Where is Chelsea?

Eyewitness and/or someone has a photo of Chelsea with said injuries that LE has seen. Beyond that, I agree that Chelsea told someone about the guy with the facial injuries and was misunderstood on the phone in the noisy environment. That photo gives me the willies similar to the picture of the Niswender twins with Chelsea and Kassandra Bruck  Did two people at the same party sustain the same injuries? Creepy as two young women in the same photograph and from the same small community who are now gone - one having been murdered, the other missing for almost three months. :waitasec:

ok I'll bite, why just south?

I responded to a post about why LE was looking for Chelsea in Ohio and Indiana. Those states share northern borders with southern Michigan, while Wisconsin shares eastern border with Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

I hope they include Illinois, as I believe there were bands from the Chicago area playing.

And really, Michigan's other directions are surrounded by The Great Lakes. The only direction to drive to other states would be to head south.

Or Canada. But, Chelsea didn't have her purse/ID with her, so she wouldn't have been able to enter Canada.

I am curious, and please don't judge me, but has any sleuthers here ever have a psychic follow a case you were following?

I cannot say I have an opinion either way, but thought I would ask.

  • #877
^ Psychics seem to pop up in every case I've followed, but I don't put much stock in their claims. :moo:

Thank you BDE, I was just curious. :)

And its a verboten topic on WS. ; )

I prefer to believe that everyone has varying degrees of deductive reasoning and intuitive experiential skills. LE folk have great skill in this area. Kind of like the ability to take all sorts of data points, see patterns, and statistically predict probabilities.

I also think that many of us who follow cases long-term probably have dreams about said cases. I certainly do, but I wouldn't post my subconscious escapades because they're not factual or real. Just my mind working overtime in response to the many hours that I spend reading about and researching various cases. I've had plenty of dreams about Chelsea Bruck, but I doubt that there is anything in my sleep-time meanderings that warrants LE investigation. :offtobed:
