I know this for sure because the family told me. Whether it was the stepdad or not could have been easily determined.

It surely must be difficult for you to try to discuss things with us, yet have to be careful what you reveal. We absolutely do not want to compromise any investigation. Thank you for doing your best to be upfront with us.

Until now I did not think these two girls' cases were connected. Unfortunately, I am beginning to question that possibility. I just want to see them both solved.

Bette - While I cannot say that anyone has discussed with me a connection (or a possible connection - besides here on the threads of course) I personally believe that it seems to be more than a coincidence that the two women are so closely connected. I wonder if Chelsea's body was hidden because things did not go "well" with the staging of Julia.

Also, the fact that Julia was partially clothed has always been hard for me to understand - IF you were staging her death to make it look as though she died naturally - or whatever they were going for - WHY leave her partially clothed? My thought here has always been that her death was an accident and that the person had the respect for her to not have her naked and exposed....Of course just my opinion.

I cannot figure out why she would have been "partially clothed" and "dumped unnaturally in the tub" (was water already in it, or added after). Makes even less sense to put clothes on her afterward and leave her in an awkward position. If it was truly an accident involving another person, why not call 911? Unless you think she fell into the tub and drowned, with no one else around? Then would there be water in the lungs?

I mentioned this last week - that I thought we would see parent's of the student's commenting in some aspects.

I expected parents to come forward, too, at least out of concern if not suspicion. What age group did JT work with in the karate classes? (if you are able to say) I have only seen two (or 3, maybe) people on FB say he taught their kids. Apparently, parents have not even inquired at the business as to whether he had a background check or anything else?



Maybe we will know more after the hearing later this week. If JT was not involved in Julia's death but may know info about it ..... why did he never have a sit down discussion and answer any/all questions for LE in all this time? A that is what is most bothering me right now. I suppose I am also curious as to who gave the two lie detector tests. I read somewhere that the first was a "practice" which he passed, and then the second was taken. We're they given the same day, by the same person?

Unfortunately, I cannot take what the family says as being the absolute truth/facts. I don't believe it to be lies, either. We all can say just as much or little as we believe necessary, hold info back, be less than forthcoming with people, etc. We may even have suspicions but not voice them in public. It has to be tough on all of the, to be under a microscope, with every word or action scrutinized.

Well, they have his prints now, possibly his DNA, too. I don't remember if MI does DNA swabs on arrestees. Most states do. Regardless, if LE wants a DNA sample from a particular individual, there are legal methods to obtain one absent an arrest. They're just not always convenient.

I guess, I am thinking that unless there was a warrant for his prints or dna sample, or an arrest he does not have to give it.

I know I would be very leary giving up my dna or prints for fear of something randomly getting a hit and LE putting their "spin" on what happened. I mean it could be an empty water bottle shared, hair transfer on a hat or scarf or anything.

I think I am leaning towards LE really wanted to make him officially report on his whereabouts or proof of alibi, print comparison or dna sample and they could not force any/all without an arrest.

I thought I read that JT has had an attorney for a couple of years, so he was likely advised to not provide DNA sample.

JT has a child with KT. That is his only child, besides the twins.

I really worry for her. I hope she is not having trouble from classmates/friends. She is at such an in-between age. Too old to not be aware of everything, yet too young to really understand it all. I imagine she loves her father very much and is very worried about him, too. There is a lot of emotions happening for a 12 year old to handle. I hope her support system is comforting her well.

I didn't understand it very well, but if you followed the Arias trial, you may have already heard how you can innocently get seedy pics in your computer history. Open a page accidentally, click an unknown link, open an attachment.... I am sure there are many ways it can happen. Once there, it stays until overwritten ..... and even then, it might still be found with the right program.

I believe he got a lawyer soon after Julia's death. Did I see/read it from the grandmother's interview? I don't understand why he needed a lawyer at that time if he was cooperating and wanted answers as to her death. But that is just me. Hard to put myself in his shoes, esp. if he felt he was being "accused"

I think you are right about the child pornography charges. To prove these charges, LE will have to show that he saved those images on the hard drive knowingly.
According to the attorney, there were only 8 images. Clicking on a wrong link could already put explicit images in your browser cache. I don't think this would be enough
for conviction.

For know, I will still presume that JT is innocent, in relation to Julia's death as well as to the child pornography charges.

Could be telling to know if these were images that he took or images downloaded from the internet? Who else had access to the computer? Teenagers do stupid things, could one of the daughters have taken and posted compromising pictures of themselves?

so I wonder what exactly those 8 images are - because if it's someone he knows and/or taken in a location he has access to, the excuse all I did was I click on a link is a wash.

I am picking up what you are laying down BDE. And on the other side of the scale, if someone has something good to say about the man, why haven't they spoken out & stood up for him along with Julia's sister??? Is she the only one who has stood up in his defence so far?

If the scene was staged then the person did a bad job. Perhaps (s)he was not strong enough to lift the body or to undress it. Perhaps the perp was in the room for quite some time
and rigor mortis already set in when trying to undress and place in the tub.

Do we know if the other roommate(s) were in the suite around the time Julia was murdered?

LE does not arrest for the random pop up scenarios. They arrest for significant possession and distribution. This guy is no novice, and no doubt has ties to a much larger "eco-system" of offenders. There will be much more to follow on this one....

As parents, this has to be awful for all of them, the shocking perverse and evil notions of it. He seems an unnaturally selfish man, if half of what it seems he may have done is indeed what he has really done. We live to teach our kids to avoid such things. This rends at the core of natural parental instincts. Who'd want to touch it, you're right. I still hope if people know things that they choose step up to LE quietly as bravely as Julia's grandmother has done publicly.

Sounds like he may have been avoiding cutting to the chase for two years with LE, never cooperating completely. You don't see his behavior as having been suspicious as Julia's grandmother states, or his run to the karate studio when LE showed up with search warrants, or hiring a lawyer instead of being upfront with LE? If I'm not mistaken, I think he was being investigated for the charges he has now been arrested for a couple of months before Julia's homicide, over two years ago, which seems to point to some sort of motive on his part potentially, which seems to me kind of strange if true.

The charges for child porn were filed in Monroe and then he was announced as a person of interest in Julia's homicide by Yasplanti LE? Do I understand correctly?
