Parents, particularly with younger children, sometimes subdue the kids with drugs or suffocation, and then finish the deed by drowning them.

How about suffocation by drugs? A drug like succinylcholine could lead to asphyxiation and would be difficult to detect.

I do not think that the biological parents were ever married. Julia & Jennifer were born on Jan. 25, 1989. Their mom was born in March 15, 1974. If I did my math right
this means that she was 14 (!) when she had them. I wonder if the biological father is listed on the birth certificate, and who it is. I wonder who raised J&J. Was it just their mother,
or was it the grandparents?

J&J's grandparents, R. & J. Niswender were their legal guardians until 2000. J&J's parents, KN and JT got engaged in 1999. (Not sure when they married but I presume 2000.)
I think that in 2000, Jennifer and Julia were taken from their grandparents to live with KN and her new husband. This is also the year that accusations of child abuse
were made against JT. I think it is possible that false accusations could have been made in connection to parenting rights.

We don't know who made the anonymous accusations, but Jennifer stated that she has some idea.

Does anyone know why, after 2 years, LE asked for JT's computer? Why didn't they do this earlier? Did LE have a warrant to search the computer,
or did they just simply ask JT? Did anyone tip off LE about possible evidence of Child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 or Julia's murder on it?

My throat just tightens reading this. I feel such regret and sorrow right now for some reason, the people touched by this, as mentioned up thread, must be in the depths. Thank you for the difficult information WSers.

His hearing is when? Where was he what did he do before he ran into Julia's family?[/QUOTE]

I am so sorry to say this, but I think the POI picked this family (not just the Mrs.) for a very specific reason. This would be consistent if the claims against him are true.

On many threads I will often suggest we don't over reach in our speculations. In this particular case, I think what is now being suggested is just scratching the surface. I think this is going to end up being an expansive investigation, far beyond Julia's death. I truly shudder at what may be discovered as LE digs deeper.

black_squirrel, you have added helpful info. The girls having been raised by the grandparents would make me less surprised that Julia preferred to live with them. I also wonder who made the abuse allegations in 2000, just after the family reunited.

I don't know why there was an investigation of the computers at this time, but when LE returned with a warrant is when JT left to go to the karate studio, if I remember correctly.

ETA or correction of info
http://t.monroenews.com/news/2015/mar/04/jennifer-niswender-backing-stepfather/?templates=tablet

According to this, Ypsi police requested his laptop, which he gave them. They found images of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Returned with a warrant, and that is when he left for the studio.

Felony charges then were filed by the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office, and a search warrant for the family home in Monroe Township was issued. A computer, software, a digital camera and other items were removed from the home by Monroe County sheriff’s detectives.

Does anyone know when JT was hired at the martial arts studio and how long he taught there? I shudder thinking about the youngsters with whom he came in contact during his tenure there. I hope parents of his former students have asked their children about any suspicious activities they encountered before, during, or after classes or if JT ever did or said anything that made them feel uncomfortable. I'd also like to know if JT ever photographed/video-taped any of his students in situations that didn't pertain directly to a martial arts class.

Would think they did not enough to get warrant for it. As for what brought about LE getting him now; that would be interesting...

ETA, Also, his taking off to go to his studio after the warrant raises red-flags about what was there...

Hope you are wrong for the sake of those who otherwise might be victims.... But reading back thread what you wrote about his cruelty to Julia (did he really tape her mouth and hit her with a wooden spoon?) - Wow, that if true shows something very wrong with him! If he did that to her, what did he do to his wife?

According to a piece he wrote in the January 2009 issue of this magazine (see Page 26, My Martial Art Therapy by Jim Turnquist), he took up karate @2005. I don't know when he actually became an instructor.

Besides Jennifer, her mother, and his lawyer, there doesn't seem to be anyone stepping forward to defend JT. No parents from the martial arts studio speaking out about JT's teaching abilities or how students interacted with him. No colleagues or customers coming forward to say what a good guy JT is and that these charges couldn't possibly be true. The silence from anyone who knows JT speaks volumes. :moo:

Adding to that, I have not heard a single family member or friend speak up, either. Wonder if he has family in the area.

JT actually does have some online presence, but not on social media. He is active on a lot of forums related to hunting, guns and other outdoorsy type of stuff.
Seems to go hunting with the youngest daughter. If it weren't for the things he is being accused of, I would say that he is a pretty regular, slightly boring family man.
Look for "turnquij" and you find many online posts.

I do think he plays a leadership role in the martial arts school. For example, here he is organizing an outdoors camp for his students. If he is indeed a pedophile, then this would be concerning.
Note that there were also going to be other parents present though:

<modsnip>

Some 3rd grader kids had a sleepover at his house, but unlike a typical pedophile, he tries to get away from it.

LE investigating the Bruck case should take special note of this fact

Well, if they think they are inept, they should volunteer their considerable brain power and talents to assist them. Right?
I always suggest to those who are quick to criticize, to back that up with some action.

Even crazier is that the arrest did not come from Ypsi police.
