...The pictures (7 or eight of them) are all of girls under 18...

I wonder how long ago the photos were taken. Is Chelsea Bruck among them???

My very first thought....we shall see.

Arguing bond. Judge considers Turnquist a danger to himself and others. Current bond stays. Preliminary hearing next week.

Done.

I missed the very beginning. Several family members and work people were at the hearing (I believe one/some were managers?). I believe the older gentleman next to the grandmother is the grandfather. He seemed very upset.

I don't recall hearing this from before..... he was felt to be difficult and threatening when at Pine View for psych. eval, so the Sheriff's office was called to come and get him.

Judge said his actions tell him JT is a danger to self or the community. High bond remains because of possible suicidal and/or homicidal possibility.

Preliminary hearing March 17.

Some other items from the hearing:
- Forensic exam report of electronics should be completed by next Monday
- 11 devices were seized
- 7 suspect photos out of more than 300,000 images on computer
- Laptop and one thumbdrive examined, 2 thumbdrives and 6 cell phones still need to be examined
- PE on March 17
- Wife made the initial call to police, felt he was a threat to himself or others
- He created a disturbance at the medical facility he was taken to where staff had to call police to remove him

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but 7 or 8 photos seems very sketchy to me. Wouldn't you think a true pediphile would have evidence of much more?

If there were pictures of girls under 18, and they were truly children wouldn't they say children? Under 18 leads me to believe these could be photos of girls trying to pass as over 18.

I'm still feeling like this charge is just a rouse to get information/details of Julia's demise. It just sort of seems "loose" to me.

^ The Judge seems to think there's reason to keep Turnquist in custody, or the bond would have been lowered.

^^I got the impression that it had more to do with him possibly being harmful to himself or the community.

The prosecutor mentioned they he would allow the defense attorney to view the photos after the hearing.

I still wonder why the original search warrant was issued at the house. They had to have good reasonto believe there was something suspicious there. His actions afterward and the scare that caused the wife to call (or have someone else call) may have caused his being taken into custody. I keep going back to the mug shot of him wearing what appears to be a protective vest. He has not been too well behaved or cooperative since for a completely innocent person.

I agree Spellbound, I think there is definitely something he is hiding, I am just not THAT convinced yet that it is child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 or pediphile tendencies.

From the "grapevine", it seems sexual deviance/trafficking is becoming more alarming in Monroe County. Whether it is increasing or has a connection to another area (Toledo keeps coming up), I have no clue. There may have been no original intent to seek evidence of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, but adding all his actions together has led to his arrest. Could the original intent be seeking info on a sex trafficking angle? Child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 or adult 🤬🤬🤬🤬? Something to do with Julia's death? A lot of questions remain that we may not get answers to for a long time.

Agree! Particularly since there seems to be no indication of concern from families whose children were taught karate lessons by him. I believe there is a lot more to come, but where it leads is anyone's guess at this time.

In order for the "🤬🤬🤬🤬" charge to stick, the Prosecutor will have to present a lot more than a handful of suggestive photos. JT's attorney said as much. I also  when he quipped that he didn't know what POI meant (in the Niswender homicide). Yeah, right ;)

Another thing from this morning's hearing: JT's attorney commented that the courtroom was packed with "supporters" of his client. Prosecutor quickly told the Judge that he didn't believe that everyone there necessarily supported Mr. Turnquist

^ Looks like Jennifer and her mom aren't taking this seriously. What's up with that? Why are they siding with this man who might be involved in Julia's death? :waitasec:

BettyDavisEyes, rosesfromangels, tarabull and Spellbound, thank you so much for all your help with information about Julia's case, and all the WSers, I'm still catching up.

This kind of denial won't ever lift, it looks like to me. Their whole sense of reality and sanity may depend on it, whatever happens to him. Julia was the only one with the strength, smarts, and force of will to get away from it those three years with her grandmother. Can you imagine how brave she was to stand up to him? Can you imagine the strain that put on her relationship with her twin, whose mind he still has a hold on? Can you imagine what life may have been like for her before she could move out, being the one that could see and feel the wrong he was doing, and stand up to her own mom too?
As his capacity to hide who he is diminishes, Julia Niswender's full true spirit and character may reveal itself.

In the DHS hearing immediately following the criminal proceedings, Judge Cheryl Lohmeyer chose to let the youngest daughter continue to remain with her mother as the Department of Human Services continues to investigate the safety of the child.

A pretrial in the matter has been set for March 27.
