The video stills are posted earlier in this thread. She is smiling in them. But, having looked at the FB pages of this woman and her son (which I will not link to, since LE hasn't confirmed it's them), she doesn't "seem" like a homicidal maniac. I'm withholding further judgment until we know more about the situation.

The woman arrested in the case is the mother of a neighbor of the victim.

ABC said 'son's yesterday, so it had to mean the the woman was his mother. If they had got that wrong, I am sure they would have corrected it by now.

I think this article got it wrong. IMO, the woman in the gas station photos looks just like the suspected victim's mother per her Facebook page. No identities have been confirmed, obviously. However, the person who I suspect is the victim has a 59 y/o mother (again, per Facebook) - same age as the woman in custody. Plus, all of the initial reports said it was the victim's mother in custody. I would think that statement would have been retracted by other media outlets by now if not true - that info has been out there for almost 24 hours now.

The nearest thing I can find to a police press release is a FB notice from Flint police. Which does confirm it is the mother of the victim arrested.

Thanks zwiebel. I can't find anything as far as a police press release either. However, I want to point out that the Facebook page you linked is not an official page of a police department. It is a group that calls themselves Citizens Informing Citizens.

I do think the article I posted up above is probably wrong, but it also demonstrates that we really don't know anything until the information is officially released.

From who I think it is - she looks identical to the suspect. Neither she nor her son have posted since right before Xmas. You would think that family would have noticed something if he had gone missing that early on...

I think that's an informal scanner listener page. However the St Clair Sheriff's FB that I posted up earlier has put the story up, and I presume they know who they've arrested!

If the mother is he one on the video smiling, I wonder if she is in a psychotic episode. I have seen people in a mania who are smiling and very happy with no reason for their happiness. Maybe she has had a psychotic breakdown due to the deaths of her husbnd and mother and maybe the care of the son was too much for her and in her manic thinking thought getting rid of her son would ease her burden. JMOO
