This just raises a red flag for me. She recently filed for divorce from her husband, there's a pre- trial conference coming up in September and a very recent (4 days before she was last seen) stipulated order to release real estate sale proceeds. MiCOURT Case Search

I will keep this thread in mind and update it with anything I can. Please understand that not all information can be made public at this time. I appreciate any efforts to help find my mother. To clarify information posted above about her last whereabouts, it has been confirmed through actual evidence that her last known location was at her home in Munising on 16 Mile Lake.

I'm so glad the police have more information @SRhen. I hope your mother is found soon.

There is no known clothing description for her currently.

It is unclear whether she had an intended destination, how she may have been traveling, or other circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The vehicle Starla was known to drive was located after her reported disappearance, a short distance away from her home on Peninsula Point Road in Munising Township.

On Monday, additional search efforts were conducted near the Peninsula Point Road area with assistance from partner agencies.

The new part: A resident reported seeing Starla's car at 4pm on Friday Aug 15 at a roadside lot, where it was found on Sunday evening. The location is "near the corner of M-94 and Sixteen mile Lake Road". It is believed that she might have left the car there on Friday to carpool to the fair with the husband. It is 3,5 miles from Starla's home. Her children, not the husband, reported her missing after not hearing from her.

The husband previously stated that she left home at midnight on Friday. The police is now looking for info about the car's whereabouts between 4pm on Friday and 8pm on Sunday.

Three and-a-half miles is not far to walk, if someone would want to stage the car there and walk home. But, that does risk someone seeing you walk home. imo

As an older woman, I don't think a 65 year old is going to decide to walk 3 1\2 miles to get to her car at midnight, after working all day and then walking all over a state fair. That area is very rural, lots of wildlife, coyotes, bears, etc., you don't take a walk at midnight. I did hear that they dragged 16 Mile Lake last week, but don't have verification of that. I personally don't think she ever made it back from the fair, the only one who said she arrived home, and then went for a walk at midnight was her soon to be ex-husband. She was seen at the fair by a couple of sources. Munising is a very small town, many people go to the fair on Friday nights so Munising people would recognize her. Any route her husband took home is heavily forested, lots of forest roads, very few houses.

I don't think 3.5 miles is far to walk to stage a car. That doesn't mean I think the missing woman did it.

But, having said that, I have no idea what happened.

The Munising Baptist Church held a prayer vigil for Starla Goings. The 65-year-old woman has been missing since August 15th. The community hopes she’s safe.

“She was like, Starla, this shining person everyone wanted to be around,” Christi Marsch, a friend of Goings, said.

*****
LaFlamme says the service was also livestreamed, so Goings’ children who live out of state could see the church’s support. He says Goings matters to this close-knit community.

“Starla is really well-known in the community; she’s a lot of fun,” LaFlamme said. “She has worked at a couple of different banks over the years. She enjoys giving people a hard time, and I enjoy giving it right back.”

She met him at that parking area after work to carpool to the fair. The car was left there around 4:00 pm.

For some reason, I'm not able to quote the post above mine by @Malak: She met him at that parking area after work to carpool to the fair. The car was left there around 4:00 pm.

I realize that is what the story is, but has it been confirmed that she is the one who parked there (not that someone said it was her)?

Seems logical since she left work driving her car to go to the fair with her husband and where she left the car is the main road towards her house. It's used as a carpool area and she was seen later at the fair while her car remained there.

We have confirmation through evidence that she did make it back to her house Friday night after the fair.

She made it back home but not her car?
