Thousands of hours? If you spoke to someone 2 hours a day it would take 17 months to speak to them for a thousand hours. Thousands of hours since 2008 would require them to talk for well in excess of 2 hours EVERY day.

That cannot possibly be true.

Why? Are you a gamer? Do you have teenagers? IMO, it is entirely possible.

I've been wondering why Doug chose to drive Venus's truck to Michigan rather than the car.

I realize Doug usually drove the car and wanted people to think Ricky Spencer was him driving the car around.

But, wouldn't it have made sense to take the car so he could have quickly put Venus in the trunk?

Did he specifically take the truck because he needed 4-wheel drive where he was going to bury Venus?

Did the truck have 4-wheel drive?

Wouldn't a person with a dead body feel more comfortable transporting it in a trunk rather than in the cab or open bed of a truck?

Wouldn't it have been easier to get Venus into the trunk rather than the cab or bed of the truck?

WHY DO YOU THINK DOUG CHOSE THE TRUCK TO USE RATHER THAN THE CAR?

I wonder why he didn't give Ricky Spencer some Dollar Tree glasses to wear that looked like his glasses?

Did Doug realize from the very beginning that Ricky Spencer could pass for him and as someone put it "groomed him" for many months?

Wood tv eight transcript. Spencer: Dec-Feb 2008, played/spoke to Stewart 6-10 hours a day on XBox

I don't know if you have every played on line games with voice capabilities, but most of the time you are playing you are not chatting about anything other than giving commands or information about what is going on in the game. That isn't conversation.

I'm curious. Did they say if Spencer knew or had ever met Venus?

Actually, yes. That is why I find it improbable. Some of the games I play have those systems and people really don't chat all that much on them. certainly not for that length of time.

Unless they find the body and can place DS at the scene I bet that the defence is going to argue that Spencer is a misguided fool who is the real perp, and that DS is just another one of his victims.

Spencer's alibi is that he was playing DS, but if DS disputes that then this whole thing could get pretty messy very quickly.

I have never played video games, so it was hard for me to understand what FS was talking about at first. No, I'm almost certain he never met Venus. It sounded like DS and FS had only met in person the weekend they went to bush gardens.

They can try all they want but they won't be successful. There is video footage of Doug purchasing the hat, gloves, tarp and shovel at the Ohio Walmart and you can bet your butt that the clerk's fingerprint who rang up the sale, or at least one Ohio Walmart employee's fingerprint who placed it on the shelf to begin with, is on that tarp cover Doug so carelessly left behind.

There is also a strong possibility Doug's fingerprints are on the Walmart receipt as well. If not, the clerk's finger prints are on it!

It will be interesting to hear Doug's explanation as to where the shovel is!

They can try all they want but it won't work!

Well, just because you haven't done it doesn't mean a lonely young man and an unhappily married man weren't doing it.

Certainly, the opportunity is there. And we can assume LE is all over it.

After hearing FS testimony today, I think they will both be heading to jail for a while.

If Spencer could play DS in Virginia he could equally well play him in Ohio, so that may not mean too much.

Did they say at the hearing that they have video of DS at the Walmart? I didn't read anything about that (I have probably missed some posts).

Other than the 4-wheel drive option, I would have though that a car was more practical and discrete if you were going to do that. Otherwise you would have to drive around with a body in the bed, and that has the potential of becoming very inconvienent.

No, I don't think it came out today. FS talked for almost three hours. The defense ask him why the tape of his police interrogation was so much shorter than his testimony today, and he said he started to remember more. Everyone was blown away by FS. After hearing that, they had plenty to keep DS in jail.

I remember they said the truck was black. Not sure about four-wheel drive. However, FS mentioned DS calling between 8 or 10 in the mourning and saying he needed to dig another hole or something because someone was to close to the pre-dug hole. So, in my mind, Venus is within two hours or so of her parents home.

How could Doug have lured Venus outside pretending to be a mailman with a package?

You have GOT to be kidding!

No wonder Doug failed to remove the Walmart receipt from the truck!
After a 14 hour plus drive to Michigan, digging a hole, digging another hole, filling the hole in then immediately driving back to Newport News, Virginia,
he must have been so exhausted he could hardly think!

FS said DS called him from a track phone from around Venuses parents house at seven in the morning and needed the phone number for Venus parents. It sounded like DS actually told FS his plan.

RS mentioned DS estimating he would be awake for 32 hours.

You mean RS as in Ricky Spencer. So, Doug waited to call until after he saw Venus's mother leave for work then plugs his nose and disguises his voice while saying something like, "Hello? This is your mailman Ron and I've got a package I need you to sign for. I'm out at the mail box."

RS stated DS returned at around 7 pm or so.
