Quick UPDATE:

No listing for Lucy B - wife
One son - does not take incoming calls!
Second son - n/a

Found a Hope Buffaloe on a __ Lake Rd - n/a

Now am going to find name of Realtor that has 5505 Pinleaf listed. Built by Buffaloe as well, and she has the PDF floorplan of that house on line. I want to see where she got that, or if she were to list the Birchleaf house, where would she go to get a floorplan for it. County records don't go back 15 years - only 2 I think. A poster called the Planning Dept.

Will be back.

Scandi, it's nice to see you're "on it!" Perfect gal for the job! :blowkiss:

OK, Pat Hensley is the Realtor on the 5505 home, and I just spoke with her assistant. I learned that when they list a house they get a floorplan from the homeowner, who usually has a copy that he inherits from the previous owner.

She said Pat hired an appraiser to do the drawing they have online of the floorplan. She also said the Youngs bought their home directly from the owner.

Stumped for a bit lol but I guess the next step would be to get the name of the appraiser and see if he has ever done a floorplan of the Birchleaf home, or if he knows another appraiser who might have done that.

Be back for a 'sneak attack' LOLOLL

PS: I tried to call her right back and her phone had gone to the answering machine. I bet she was on the horn to Pat, telling her about the unusual call she just had! I told her I belonged to a crime forum.

Hi, I just spoke to the appraiser who did the floorplan at 5505 Pineleaf Dr and told him who I was and what we needed and why. He asked me to please send him an email to that effect, and I just sent it off to him:

I just spoke to you on the phone. I belong to a forum called Websleuths where we are studying the Michelle Young murder. In order to have a 'visual' of the property where the crime scene is, we need to locate a floor plan of the home.

I was hoping you might know how we could accomplish this. I thought since you have done a plan for the home at 5505 Pindleaf Dr you might have done other appraisals in that Enchanted Oaks subdivision, possibly one for 5108 Birchleaf Dr.

Any info would be appreciated on finding a floorplan for our property. The Planning Dept records don't go back 15 years, Mrs Buffaloe was very involved in the construction business but I have no way to get ahold of her. And the Youngs bought the home directly from the owner, so I have no Realtor to call who might have had a floorplan.

Thanks and Respectfully Yours,

So now I guess we wait for a reply. Scandi

Back at 'cha DAWGIE. I'm wondering now what the next plan of attack will be if the appraiser can't help us. At least my thinking cap is getting good use today. Couldn't think of a better cause! :blowkiss:

A thought that occurred to me on that jewelry if indeed it's missing and LE didn't take it for evidence. The insurance angle is a logical one because of the value alone. Jason would have no use for that and it serves two purposes, cash and staging of a robbery. I have some pieces that are custom and therefore irreplaceable. Insured at a much higher value than what they cost.

On the other hand an even third possibility is that if someone was hired to do this the jewelry could be down payment till the insurance company paid off.

Sami's question about the jewelry box also intrigues me as to the usual location. Jake said he saw a small one on top of the dresser with two drawers missing. What if that's not where it usually was. Why would it be sitting out in plain sight that night?

I just received a nice reply back from the appraiser:

"Thank you for writing.

I do measure a lot of homes and I don't remember them all by any means.

In the next few days, I'll look at my files and see if I have measured the ones you mentioned. If I have, I'd have to decide if I would need the permission of the person I did the work for to share what I did for them".

I'm hoping he used the Birchleaf house as a comperable for his appraisal on the Pineleaf home. It seems like a major firm that he works for, so there might be many appraisals they have done in Enchanted Oaks. Scandi

Strach, I have to say that my husband keeps his one drawer jewellry box right in the middle of the bedroom dresser even after being burglarized 20 yrs ago.:bang: The jewellry I have for special occasions is in a safe.

So it does seem odd to me that anyone would keep heirloom jewellry right out in the open - especially when we've read that she was worried about hearing noises around the house!

maybe she was concerned, and altho she typically kept it out, had moved it, and poss. told Jason she had hid it in his closet...hence the messy closet, since he really didn't know where...JMOO

If the jewelry box was usually kept in the closet but was on the dresser that night wouldn't that be very unusual? A ransacked closet as well might have been part of an attempt to make it seem like a robbery too.

Hi, I'm a new poster. I have some nice jewelry , have a jewelry drawer in a closet , and a small jewelry box on my dresser. Guess I'm a bit clueless but I don't spend any time thinking about someone coming in my house and taking things .

As for the *ransacked* closet... I think we should take it with a grain of salt , considering the source. For all we know the husband could have been a slob.

I invested money in having those California Closets done. Mine is neat and my husband's looks like the Trailways Bus station. I even had a little drawer installed for his dry cleaning , and it still ends up on the floor.

MOO

Well I definitely think there may be some truth to this ransacked closet if we are to believe that 2 jewellry box drawers were missing. Because of this many of us figured jy had tried to stage a robbery.

OTOH, LE said nothing was missing so perhaps Meredith was able to account for all their jewellry. She did live with them afterall.

It seems to me a murderer would try to stage a robbery but I can't see LE not saying that something was missing.

I don't know what to think anymore!!

I apologize if this was already discussed...but I am not finding any posts so I will ask!
What kind of jewelry are we talking about? Did MY have a lot of jewelry? Jewelry passed down from her grandmother, aunts, etc?
Was it worth a lot of money?

TIA!

You rock! You are such a super sleuth! Hope you get the info that you need. :)

And I DO hope one day you can come here and remind us all of all the posts and facts we had wrong about JY. Like for starters, I hope you can come and gloat at us when SOMEONE ELSE is convicted for killing Michelle. I would sincerely love for it to be anyone else who smashed her skull and killed their baby.

Totally agree!

Kadie,

Truthfully we don't know much about the jewelry. The origins of the jewelry missing go way back and came from a poster called JTF on another board. That is the origin - is it truthful - don't know. Since that time certain persons have accused various family members from the Fisher family of taking it, a burglar taking it, so who knows. Supposedly what is missing is heirloom jewelry that was passed down to Michelle from the Fisher family. Again don't know for sure about the validity of this.

One comment, I can imagine LE not saying anything about it. As with all crimes, LE holds much information that only the killer would know. In the case of jewelry there is also the possibility it would not be publically mentioned but the hot sheets could have been sent to all the pawn shops to keep a look out for it. No mention and it may show up in a pawn shop with an owner who may be able to tell LE who pawned it, what they look like, and where they are. Possible.

Thanks for clearing that up, RC! Makes sense. I was just catching up on reading all the posts. Lots of good discussions and ideas. You all continue to amaze me with your thoughts and detective work!

Hi RaisinCharlie!

The problem I have with the "heirloom jewelry" is logistics.

Michelle was young, she may very well have had some jewelry, BUT I seriously doubt that it was just hanging out (and probably not a lot of it). Since I don't know her personally, my ONLY guess would be that she either had it under wraps, OR thought it was safe in her own household.

Take into account the affair and the visit(s) to her therapist

AND......

A bank safety deposit box might just reveal exactly HOW much she trusted her husband.

Day late, but nevertheless.

Very good point. I had forgotten about this.
