My main point is Cesar had Maria's car that whole first week Maria was missing. Then the car shows up a week later at the bus station or next to it.
Now how did he know to leave her car there when no one knew about the bus ticket?

He bought it himself, or found it on Maria. I still think he bought the ticket himself or had someone do it for him.

SuziQ - Very good point that Cesar very well could have found the bus ticket on Maria or found it in her car after he killed her.

I have heard & read varying reports on the location of where Maria's car was found. Some reports stated that her car was parked at a fast food restaurant (Checkers, I think) for several weeks - while other reports mention the bus station.

Also - it was my understanding that Maria inquired at the bus station (on the 14th when she or "someone" purchased the ticket) if she could leave her car there on the following day - the 15th - the day of departure on the bus.

So - what is the theory here regarding the car?

If Cesar had Maria's car at his home for several days after he slaughtered her & caused the death of her/their baby .. how did he explain that bizarre car possession to his wife?

When did he actually park & leave the car at another location - Checkers or bus terminal?

And how did he get home from that location?

How far from his home are those locations?

Did he require transportation help?

How did Cesar come to be in possession of her car?

Did he kidnap her somewhere else (like her own home, maybe - where he had her write the "I'm leaving" note for her housemate) then bring her to his home in her own car or did he somehow manipulate her to come there on her own volition?

Where was his 24 yr. old marine wife & 18 mo. old daughter during this time frame?

As others have mentioned about their own husbands - it is just inconceivable to me that this wife, a marine herself, and 3 yrs. older than her corporal husband - would not have known or suspected anything wrong. Unless she is deaf, dumb, blind & stupid .. I'm just not buying it that she is simply an innocent aftermath witness. I've tried to give her the benefit of the doubt - but, with all the red flags presented - it just doesn't add up for me.

Oh - another contradictory statement today by the Sheriff & company at the news conference. Originally it was stated that Cesar "left the note" for his wife and departed the home at 4 AM. Today - Cesar "gave the note" to her at 4 AM before leaving. There is a difference - so, which is it?

Either way - why did Christine Laurean wait so long to contact the authorities - unless, perhaps, it was a part of a plan to give him time to get away & exonerate her to LE by way of the note confession?

This whole case & the information being reported is most confounding. During the entire news conference, I kept thinking to myself how very fortunate I am not to reside in NC - especially in this county where this uneducated bozo sheriff holds such an important LE office. Felt the same way during the Duke case in Durham last year.

What if he did 2 coats of paint. Then asked her to help with the last coat.Luminol had to be used because the blood was able to seen with the nakid eye.
Very true JDB!

All good points Rum Tum. I thought I too heard that her car was seen at a fast food restaurant for a time. Apparently the wife had been gone during the time that Maria's car was at 🤬🤬🤬 house, according to the neighbor. But I sure would like to know where she was, what was she doing and how long she was gone. She certainly figures in this somehow. Enquiring minds would like to know!

  • #324
If her car was there for a time after the murders, wouldn't you think the wife would ask questions?
I take it the car was spotted by neighbors?
What date was the party?

No such luck Littledeer. :furious:

On another note, I found a photo of the Laurean's next door neighbors, the ones who let him use their shovel. It is at this link :

I can imagine how much info they could add about the paint job and paint cans stacked outside. I am not buyiNg the wife's innocence in all this. She had to know something ! Especially after painting so much. And since when do folks have a barbeque in the backyard during Dec. Jan ? Now I am wondering how none of the bbq's guests caught a wiff of something foul-smelling in that firepit ? ( Sorry to be graphic ) There are so many pieces of this puzzle that seem to be missing, it is so frustrating. :behindbar

   This is agreat post!! I agree
Lets review -
Maria filed rape charges against 🤬🤬🤬 in April - and the military decided to "wait" until she had her baby to move ahead on prosecution or any real action against 🤬🤬🤬 - and didn't protect her or move either of them because they were "friendly"
Maria is pregnant with 🤬🤬🤬 baby (we assume) due Jan 8th
Maria had THREE protective orders against 🤬🤬🤬 but they were still working together and he (and others) were continuing to harrass her daily
Maria's roommate leaves
Maria talks to Mom on Dec 14th - last known contact with Maria
Maria goes AWOL on Dec 15th (and is killed on Dec 14th or 15th in 🤬🤬🤬's house per evidence and LE timeline)
Maria's Mother reports her missing to Sheriff Dec 19th - military does NOTHING - says they think she will "turn up soon" - she is 2 weeks from her due date!
Maria's CAR is OPENLY parked at 🤬🤬🤬's house for almost a week - including on Dec 19th - no-one seems to notice or think this is ODD
Maria's cell phone is located on the base Dec 20th and money withdrawn from her account twice AFTER Dec 15th - plus money wired by Western Union
Maria's car found at Bus station and a bus ticket was reportedly purchased by Maria to El Paso (a place she had NEVER been and knew no-one) on Dec 14th (or 15th) - but no-one wonders where her car was BEFORE it magically appears at the bus station
🤬🤬🤬 burns body in yard and buries the remains Dec 19th or 20th?
🤬🤬🤬 and wife start repainting inside the bloody house, have a party
AND THEN around JAn 8th or so someone finally decided to check out 🤬🤬🤬 - leading to the discovery of Maria's body, leading to 🤬🤬🤬's wife taking letters to LE and reporting 🤬🤬🤬 taking off for parts unknown - which we now know happened in the PM of Jan 9th and NOT the AM of Jan 11th as wife reported.

So the 🤬🤬🤬 was FREE to kill Maria, drive her car around openly, go into her apt, stage a cover-up, take her money and dispose of her body (and cover up a murder in his house so he could have a PARTY and a convenient bonfire) FOR AT LEAST 25 DAYS with NO interest by LE or the military - and nothing to STOP HIM. And even when they got close to him, he was not put under surveillance and the military excused him on Thursday without a care or a thought that he might be ready to run.

This is totally FUBAR (to use a military term) and it is making me increasingly angry - for poor Maria and that innocent baby who she obviously loved despite how he was conceived.

And THAT 🤬🤬🤬 was probably already in Mexico before his wife reported he was gone. I am not so sure wifey is all sweetness and innocence either.

This case was messed up from the START - back in APRIL! The poor woman lived thru hell and then she and her almost full term baby were killed by the man who raped her, fathered the baby she was carrying and put her in hell. AND THEN he threw Maria and his baby out like garbage and desecrated the bodies. AND the military just sat back and let it happen - ALL OF IT! They are at least partially responsible for the horrible deaths of Maria and her baby - and now for letting 🤬🤬🤬 escape justice.

This is OUR MILITARY and we should not only be outraged but DEMAND accountability and CHANGE - immediate change. This did NOT have to to end like it did...one thing along the way handled differently and Maria would be alive and holding her precious baby right now.

Yeah, this whole painting this is weird also. Do we have any confirmation, other than the neighbor, that Christina WAS helping him paint? How would he know? Could he see in the house? Was he spying on them? Did they tell him? Why? How could such a thing come up in conversation? "OH, hi neighbor? How are you today? I'm just helping the hubby paint over some blood stains on the wall today". :waitasec:

FC, RTT and everyone, great discussion and links. Now I need to go back and catch up.

I really really feel Cpl 🤬🤬🤬 was in Mexico before the note was given.

Kool Look If this reaks of Wife doing the killing. Why is he running? I am a little leary of the report of the neighbor seeing her help painting. Wonder why it took him so long to say something?

Good question. A long time? How has it been a long time? We're just hearing about it, he's just beginning to talk to the media? We don't know when or the circumstances behind this revelation. Plus this case only hit wide open when Friday? Saturday? It's truly not been that long at all in the scheme of things. Now six months, a year later, yeah.

I'm not buying Christina's statements, not one bit. She's good people.

If her car was there for a time after the murders, wouldn't you think the wife would ask questions?
I take it the car was spotted by neighbors?
What date was the party?

She is behind this, no need to ask questions. Maria was going to give birth to little Gabriel Joseph, Laurean one and only son, a babe son to carry on the name. Nope, I'm not buying her story at all.

I witness a live interview of a hispanic woman on the show The First 48 hours that airs on court tv/tru tv. About a month ago. The police interviewed this woman the first time, she could have sold ice to eskimos. Then they had cause to bring her in again, she still could have tricked the must discerning. When they finally found her fingerprints on a key piece of evidence, only then did she admit to her involvement along witht the boyfriend. And yes, she was the mastermind. Playing men. She was a trickster. Women are cold heartless blooded killers too.

Think about all the intricate staging, planning and long drawn out process of this case. Too many dynamics, to many details for just one to know. Her fathers comments are based solely on his wanting to believe his daughter, as it should be. I have no problem with that.

Let's have a BBQ? and roast over our thoughts.

 "Alander also said she saw the couple burning something behind the house around the same time, while her husband claimed he saw Cesar Laurean driving Lauterbach's car."

I missed this! I thought that Christina was gone at the time the neighbor saw 🤬🤬🤬 with Maria's car. I certainly didn't think that wifey assisted in the burning! Dear God! She is in this up to her eyeballs isn't she? Sorry if this has already been posted! Its news to me! I need to read more carefully. So much to keep up with.

IIRC, he was leaving the base, at least that is what I read. I will BRB with a link.

  • #332
I don't know but I would think that burning a body (actually two bodies) would give off a horrible odor and alot of smoke. Made me so sad/sick/angry when I heard the sheriff say they found the baby's little fingers.

I think this guy is in Mexico...at first I thought he may kill himself rather than get turned in , but knowing now what he did, I doubt it. He's too pathological.

Maybe they have a neighbor like mine? If he sees us outside, no matter what we might be doing (inside or out) he always asks "Whatcha doin"?

Nevertheless, Brown said that suspicions about Lauterbach's character should not have stopped military officials from contacting the sheriff's office after she was reported missing. "Once she became a reported person, that should have caused someone to come to us and tell us, 'This is what's going on on the base,'" Brown said.

The officer hired three attorneys after yesterdays press conference. No charges have been filed yet.

Okay so I see no recent articles that say he left the base.

I can't stand neighbors like that! I have them too! But in this case, we may need them!

That's fine, dear Indy :) but you wouldn't be asking me what I'm doing when you clearly see I'm picking up dog poo :)
