I def. think with LE searching SO hard for these missing cell phones, They believe that the parents (at least Deborah) are lying to them.

If an "Intruder" took those phones, they virtually could be anywhere around the KC area.

Since they are searching around the Irwin home etc. I take it to believe that
this was no intruder and that this was an inside job.

Even if there was an intruder they would IMO have to search the surrounding area. An intruder who took the phones to delay the 911 call or just to be ornery might IMO have thrown them away close to the Irwin home just as easily as the family could, to keep LE from tracking his/her movements by the phones. It would be too dangerous to use them for anything so the intruder might just have gotten rid of them as soon as possible.

I think it was an unskilled criminal who thought disposing of the phones would help. Not realizing records could be received...

If this was the first time alone at night, I would have my phone and I would go around and make sure the house is locked up tight. I would keep a few lights on. Especially since they already had someone vandalize the car.

While this might have been the first time that JI worked at night, I doubt this was the first time she was ever alone with the children at night. I believe InDaMiddle mentioned on another thread that JI goes hunting, using the trailer parked behind the house.

Unless he hasn't been for a couple of years?

Anyone have any ideas why LE took JI's work phone and as of the last time they were asked, LE still haven't returned it?

Or a drunk one...

Or a drunk one...
...who came to and realized something horrible had happened and used one of the phones to call in assistance in a cover-up, necessitating ditching the phone to hide the call. But how to explain just one of the phones missing with two others sitting there? So ditch all the phones.

I don't think I have seen a hunt quite like this one for a missing child. I am not used to seeing LE going to a grand jury so quickly. On Tuesday, they are taking this to the grand jury. That says they are ready to indict.

They are in hot pursuit of finding Lisa prior to Tuesday, to fill in any holes in their theory. My guess is they must have enough evidence to indict the mother.

Just a thought...did I read somewhere that they have Sprint PCS? I live in MO as well and have Sprint too.....there are MANY times when my text messages do not come through until several hours later....just happened this week....Wednesday a girl from college text me twice around 8 pm.....guess when I got the texts?....Thursday afternoon at 4pm....I knew they were coming as we had class together on Thursday at 9am and she was irked that I hadn't text her back to answer her question....could something like this have occurred with regards to the 2:30 text/call? just another thing to consider.

Wow, that's an intriguing thought.

If DB doesn't know what time Lisa and the phones were taken, then she doesn't know if there was a text at 2:30am either - could be a huge clue if the text is true and not made by DB, and the reason its being kept secret. I'd like to know if the chargers were taken, and OT, where DB's purse was too.

Where did that info come from? First I've heard of it. If true, it makes me feel a whole lotta better about hopping off the fence when it comes to him.

Then why not just charge her now?

Maybe the police took his work phone to intercept a call from the alleged kidnapper.

His work phone number would be programmed into DB's cellphone and the son's also. No?

I know this is off topic...where did you see this info? We have no thread here on ws about it. do you have a link?

Naming a suspect or charging them causes the perp to lawyer up. Going to the Grand Jury will make sure all evidence is sorted out and testimony regarding the evidence is on the record. The GJ can question people formally and under oath about the information they have related to the case and furthermore, no attorney for the perp is allowed in.

It is the way to go if they want to indict down the line.

I'm sure I'm not the only person here who watches "The First 48" on A&E, right?

I've seen cases on there where they have a homicide, victim etc etc and a case where it took 30 days and others where it has taken weeks for detectives to receive phone records from a single cell phone.

I'm wondering if KCPD detectives are up against the same thing here?

There's no kidnapper.
