Missing cell phones

If my cell phone was ever stolen one of the first things I would do is contact the carrier. The information about this 2:38am call/text must have come from somewhere.

At this point it's still a rumor that hasn't been substantiated, but it's being discussed as if it's a known fact. It could be true, but as far as I can tell, no one in a position to actually know has confirmed that it really happened.

We do not know that LE is searching so hard for the cell phones. That is simply speculation.
LE has never revealed what they are looking for as far as I know. We really have no idea, and I doubt they are going to share that information with us.

I believe, at least initially, they were searching for something using metal detectors. However, finding the actual phones would be a moot point now since the phone records are available and the actual phones are probably dead.

I think LE leaked the fact there was a 2:38 call to Fox News so that Jeremy would learn about it.

Jeremy is the key to the case. Debbie isn't going to confess. The body may never be found. But Jeremy could turn on her once he puts the puzzle together.

MOO.

Why would LE do that? They could just tell him that without putting it out in the media.

Finding the phones could lead to some other physical evidence, i.e. footprints, cigarette butts, something...who knows...if they have nothing else, why not try to find the phones while looking for the baby?

I forgot about cell phone records.

All they would need are the cell phone records since the phones have probably been dead for some time now.

They were definitely searching for something.....but no one knows for sure what they were looking for. It is being repeated as a fact that they were intensely looking for the cell phones, and we just don't know that to be true, so it should not be repeated over and over as a FACT.

That was really my whole point.

Some have speculated that the phones might still contain some DNA, skin cells, something, if in fact there was a call at or about 2:30AM that could be important to attempt to prove who made it. I have my doubts, but again, it depends on the desperation level of LE, which seems high. JMO

My THEORY is that the cell phone Debbie connected with was a "no contract" "prepaid" cell phone and is not traceable because there is no name connected with it. These phones also send and receive text messages. I also think Debbie got the extra phone from the day before so she could use that phone for certain communications that would be stored on that phone, not her own. MOO.

Fingerprints from the "intruder."

Is this the same Ashley that said LE is trying to pin this on somebody?

If it is, I do not believe her.

Jeremy's sister I think. And yes she has stated her opinion that she felt police would arrest Debbie.

If DB got a a cell phone from a relative the day before, and they claim that two were working and one was broken, then I would guess that either she put the sim card from her broken phone into the new phone or they were prepaid, in which case it would be untraceable?

I haven't heard anything about her getting the "new" phone activated for her account that day. Wouldn't she have to call or go into the office of her carrier for that?

MOO

I have a Tracfone that I can only refill with minutes by using a credit card on their website. So that could be traced to me.

But will there be a NAME associated with that phone number?

I have a pay as you go phone and if you pay cash, there's no credit/debit card number required.

Yes, there has to be a name attached to the number. It could be an alias name, but I would think LE has asked Debbie for all of her phone numbers. Also I'm sure LE has contacted all the of the family's associates so they could ascertain the phone numbers Debbie and Jeremy used.

Unless one of the parents had a secret phone they used for whatever reason, or a phone given to them by a stranger? I'd think with the FBI on the case, they've got it covered. I think the FBI probably knows who the parents sat next to when they were in kindergarten.

Not to belabour the obvious, but on the first night her husband is away working the night shift...

The very first night he is away and mom is all alone...

Mom didn't keep a phone by her bed in case he tried to call or something went wrong?

clu, I can buy a minutes card at Radio Shack and pay cash. Use the phone to register the minute card number and it's all good to go. No debit card needed.

Aside, Tracfones have good promo codes for extra minutes. Google 'tracfone promo code"!
