MN - Beau Shroyer, Wife of Detroit Lakes missionary killed in Angola arrested in connection to his death

Still the rainy season in Angola, but on top of that , life in South West Africa rolls on, the Legal Year 2025 begins this week, so by this time, the judges (3) that have been assigned to Mrs Shroyers indictment have been chosen and briefed, and begun their investigation. They won't be talking to the press, but mainly, Mrs Shroyer is not of much interest to the general population, at this point. She murdered her husband, it happens, people do stupid things, it is not an over riding tragedy...... in other news, Cholera has appeared in the northern province of Angola, 87 cases in four provinces , this has become an urgent matter....

Meanwhile, just over the border, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, war, savage and brutal has deepened, likely to spread over into Angola and Zimbabwe, It's been raging for some time and the news today is horrifying...

A womens prison has been set alight, in Goma, which is right on the border... Rwandan rebels at large.......

No news of the disappearing third man in this crime.. I can think of some scenario's.. he has died somewhere , out in the bush... or someone has done him in... or. he has made his way to Mozambique, where his language would be at home ( an ex Portugese colony like Angola ).. or he has somehow , on slow buses, made his way across the Arabian Gulf to Qatar, or Bahrain, working in construction along with millions of other young African men....... or.. he is the state's witness and under their protection, this seems to me to be the most likely.....

I don't find anything surprising about this whole dreadful murder, I think she did organise it, and Bernadino assisted in it... one thing that had the ring of truth from the Police Commander was the squeamishness of Mrs Shroyer and Berni.. neither of them wanted to actually do the killing, but they wanted him dead. Her hysterics ( according to police reports ) was probably because she did not realize that death by machete was so messy, so barbaric..
BBM Above I wish all discussions were as concise and civil...even though what happened to Mr. Shroyer is nothing short of barbaric. However I still have a great deal of skepticism when it comes to Jackie's involvement/and supposed affair with Bernadino:
NUMBER#1 If Berni was really her lover and he devoted to her....Why in the world would she have to pay her own boyfriend fifty thousand dollars? That just doesn't make sense. The money seized, from the killers was no way near that amount.
NUMBER#2
Did Berni, the so called boyfriend, hire men he has been associated with (in crimes) in the past? I get the feeling this is not the first time they (the 3 men) have been in cahoots. Did Berni steal Beau's money and use it to have him killed? Was Beau getting suspicious (he was afterall a police officer at one time) since his home had been robbed twice, even with so called "bodyguards/security" on duty.
Rob me once...a fluke. Rob me twice....inside job.
NUMBER#3 Why would JS have to give anybody a knife??? Is there a knife shortage in Angola??? To me that has to be the stupidest thing I ever heard, but not stupid coming out of Berni's mouth/mindset. (Hope y'all get that part.)
NUMBER#4 I get the feeling Berni was afraid of losing his "cush" job and figured he could easily con the wife if Beau was out of the picture.
Anyway, if I was a defense attorney for JS...I'd sure be pushing the aforementioned as a viable possibility/scenario/motivation. Who else would hire Berni to be a security job??? American companies who want their workers to be safe would never had hired him....they do background checks.

So if it's true that Jackie is being unjustly accused of murder, where are her friends and family? Why aren't they all shouting about this from the rooftops? It would be front-page news if the college-age Shroyer child was out there saying her mother was being framed by the Angolans and neither the missionary organization nor the State Department were doing anything to help.

But to date we've heard nothing from anyone in the know. Not even so much as a fundraiser to pay for Jackie's legal expenses. I don't know exactly what's going on here, but surely their silence must indicate something.

I don't have answers to your questions. However, regarding item #1, these allegations remind me of Lindsay Shriver, who's also accused of paying her lover and his associates to kill her husband in a foreign country. (Although in her case the hit didn't succeed.)

If you have a look on Facebook at some of the articles posted about her arrest back in November and December, there are definitely people doing exactly this in the comments. But I wonder if most of the friends who knew them and family are affiliated with the church or the mission and they’ve been told to refrain from speaking out. There certainly seemed to be very much a wayward woman leading her man into sin narrative and it could be that culturally that isn’t one people speak out against in their world. MOO

In a statement Monday, Troy Easton, lead pastor of Shroyer’s hometown church, Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, confirmed that Shroyer’s wife Jackie Shroyer had been “formally charged as a co-author in the murder of her husband.”

News of the charges against Jackie Shroyer “saddens me immensely,” Easton said. He said Jackie Shroyer will remain in custody and tried before a judge, likely in the next six months.

The prosecutor had up to March 2nd to lay any charges, if he/she had not done so by then , penalties would kick in... well.. formally charged as co - author.. which means, that Bernadino has been formally charged as well it would be odd if only one co - author was charged. I am now curious as to the charges that will follow for the other co- conspirators,,,, or, indeed, if the missing man suddenly appears.. I doubt if their fate will be of much interest to the congregation at Lake Area... but I am intensely curious as to their disposition.

Where did the money come from will be high on the list of matters the Prosecutor will present to the 3 judges, ( who have done their investigation into the matter before adjudicating ) ... exacty where, and exactly how much, and who was promised what and who got what... I suspect the money will lead back to Jacki, because it's not the kind of money a security guard, and his pals are every likely to lay hands on even in their dreams..

( in the matter of murder, the State of Angola has 4 months from the murder to finalise and lay charges,, which brings the Prosecutor 5 days early, from the deadline, which is about par for the course, .. nothing unusual in that.. they don't lay charges on the actual arrest in Angola, but they do have to stick to a rigid timetable in bringing charges and presenting the accused to the court. I think Jackie will actually appear in court to be arraigned , along with her co-author, and possibly they may, since it has been labelled as such, Jackie and Bernadino will be tried together as co-authors ( there must be written evidence of that, would Jackie have been that stupid? ) not separately.... which, would be bad news for Jackie, I think. )

Yes (sigh) this is horrible news. Am I hoping against hope? So lets throw out the money, throw out the accomplices and the improbability of a 23 year old man having the hots for the married, 44 year old mother of 5 children...and what is left? An American woman who wanted to stay in Angola? I just don't get it. What was she going to do for income? Just "google" Is Angola safe for Americans?
If her mindset was to remain in Angola, no matter what....she'll have to face the consequences, no matter what. Safe to say be careful for what you wish.

I don't understand why so many people are having a hard time believing that a) she would want to kill her husband; b) that she was cheating on her husband with the guy that she paid to murder her husband; and c) that she would want to stay in Angola. Literally nobody cares that she's american and they're gaining nothing from arresting her if they don't have a reason to do so. Why is everyone so against the possibility that they investigated and came to the conclusion that she was actually having an affair and did participate in the murder of her husband? Because this happened in Angola? She isn't the first and won't be the last woman that did something like this, and it's happening in the US as well, all over the world actually. Come on...

Bbm.
Agreed.
& I don't have a difficult time believing she did this.
For reasons ....

People can be very different from the picture they portray at work or in social media, for one thing.
At least she'll get to stay in Angola, now.
I think they'd place her in prison there as the crime was committed there ?
Feel so bad for those traumatized kids, though. Awful 😢
Omo.

I have niggles about Berni having the hots for Jackie,, the power imbalance between them is significant, in my estimation,, she was his employer, he , her employee, she held all the cards to someone who wanted a job, and she must have been persuasive in the extreme, it is just as likely that he thought he had to obey Jackie and play along with her sexual fantasies about him, her rage against Beau, which we can surmise she had, considering the barbaric death SHE CHOSE FOR HIM, he may have been terrifically isolated in his employment.

There is absolutely nothing unusual in a 44 yr old woman in a totally socially deprived environment being taken over by the wildest fantasies about a 23 yr old young man in her employ... think of the thousands, the millions of 'pool boys' outside in the hot sun, being peered at thru the muslin curtains, watching the tiles being scrubbed, in a pair of tight shorts, , while hubby is ignoring them, .. .it's a story as old as suburbia itself.. Jackie didn't invent this story, she is just one more ning nong believing her own fevered dreams.. it happens with monotonous regularity.

edited by me for focus..
Certainly , Angola was not safe for American Beau Shroyer, it ended his life dramatically, and horribly, at the hands of his wife and her cohorts, his American wife, kind of ironic, that the only person Beau was in danger from was his American colleague, it's a bit rough on the Angolans that Americans just wander round the world killing each other, adding to folks crime rate, they could stay at home and build up the numbers in Minnesota..

I see that Minnesota is actually, from an outsiders perspective, rather dangerous, The crime rate in Minnesota is 30.73 per 1,000 residents during a standard year.

Where I come from that would be considered very high.. .

I wonder how that plays out in such a (even more than in the US) patriarchal society, though. I mean, sure, she’s his employer, but he’s the MAN. (Just idle speculation!)

I mean, I do IDLY wonder whether the disbelief would be similar if this same story were playing out instead in, say, Finland.

Considering the status that white missionaries in African nations layer themselves up with, and persuade Govts to go along with their estimation of what high status they ought to be accorded, think on if it was a white male missionary and a black African woman employee in this situation.

Jackie held all the cards. She and Beau had the ear of the Govt, we know this because they got a land grant, not many Angolans would get that, and with Beau being a former police man I find it difficult to believe that he did not enter into some brothers in arms arrangement with the local constabulary, not that it did him much good.

It still amazes me that she went along with the bizarre plan of the murder, I do think her input into the plan was colossal, it was so cackhanded and cockeyed. And brutal and savage and violent. Not a clean kill, by any means as we could see from the pics of the vehicle. She wanted him to know he was going to die, and how it was going to be done, and him knowing he was out in the bush alone. We don't know if Beau was still alive, and slowly dying when Jackie returned from her bladder event. It's entirely possible he just stared at her. No wonder she was hysterical by the time the cops came...

Bernie in love with Jackie.. I just don't know about this, it is possible, what the attraction was for him I cannot even fathom a guess..... what he was going to do with Jackie after the body was taken away, I cannot work out. Just a hot mess, and tragic in it's outcome .

BBM:
SIMUSA missionaries put out a statement following BS's murder and JS's arrest.
They are said to have taken steps to ensure that Jackie has appropriate legal representation.

That was then, last November and I don't know the outcome and also how Christian donors feel about their money defending JS?

JS could have sent her kids back to the states with their father and she could have stayed and frolicked with her lover-boy.
What even qualified JS for missionary work?

This did not age well just like JS will not age well in an Angolan prison.

One would think that SIM would at least expect their missionaries to have charisma, .. at the very least, some sort of interesting personality,, some capacity for public speaking, some kind of gift, or talent for drawing people in, not repelling them with dribbling slogans and memes....

Jacki, and to a certain extent, Beau, seemed to be completely lacking in any sort of maturity, or even a grasp on real life, this endless blithering about 'love'... 'why don't people love me?'.. well, Jackie , it could be because you are dreary and needy and offputting.. That's a simple answer, obvious and crystal. I have to hand it to Bernadino if he put up with that kind of hammering nonsense day in , day out from either of them.. He must be a bit of a saint.

I still wonder if they heard God correctly , about going to Angola, in AFRICA,... maybe they heard it wrong...it seemed so inefficient to me to have people tasked with spreading the word of God if they did not already speak the language of the targetted , oh I was about to say victims, but targetted recipients might be more tactful.
