MN - Beau Shroyer, Wife of Detroit Lakes missionary killed in Angola arrested in connection to his death

Yep. She offered them $50k to do it, and paid $400 up front. Good grief. RIP, Beau.
I doubt $50k US. Some other country's currency.

She will never a day of freedom again, I expect.

That's what I think: Angolan prison for life.
It would be alot more convenient for the Angola government if there wasn't a US citizen involved, as they have to deal with international scrutiny and fallout.

I suppose the local conspirators will get death sentences. Puts a whole new twist on, "thou shalt not kill" when you persuade local folks to kill on your behalf.

I presume this news media is allowed as it seems like MSM from Angola.
Lots of interesting info in this article!

https://www.angola24horas.com/angol...e-missionario-norte-americano#google_vignette

A 24 year old love interest (Elias) hired 2 other guys, offering them $50,000, with a $400 advance. They went for their pay from Elias and he only gave them $9,000. Jackie provided a knife (from the US). They met at the prearranged site, when Jackie would go off into the woods to urinate. and then they staged a theft attack and stabbed Beau.
For the good of the order, I'm posting the Google translation:

Two of the three suspects involved in the murder of the North American missionary, Beau Shroyer, aged 44, a week ago in Huíla, southern Angola, were presented today, Thursday, in the capital of this province, the city of Lubango, by the Service of Criminal Investigation (SIC).

Absent at the time, for supposed health reasons, was the victim's wife, Jakclyn Shroyer, also 44, considered the moral author of the crime.

The woman and the couple's assistant, supposedly her lover, were detained from the fourth day after the crime, following hours of interrogation, while one of the perpetrators ended up detained in Cunene, on Tuesday, 5th, when was preparing to cross the Angola-Namibia border. The third suspect is still at large.

When speaking about the case, the spokesperson for the national SIC, superintendent of criminal investigation, Manuel Halaiwa, stated that the motivations for the crime were “strong suspicions of a romantic relationship between the principal and her accomplice, the guard at the couple's residence” .

He added that the motive was a presumed intention of the wife not wanting to leave Angola, when her husband's mission had ended, given that he had created some projects in the municipality of Humpata, where the murder occurred.

He explained that the SIC became aware of the existence of a body of the citizen in the town of Thienjo, in Palanca, on the 25th of October, with all his belongings in the place, including binoculars, a hat and others, as well as a “dismayed” wife. .

He said that after the expert period, the SIC launched a criminal case that gave rise to several investigations, starting with the statements of the wife found at the scene.

As a result of the investigation work, he highlighted that they had identified Bernardino Isaac Elias, 24 years old, security guard at the couple's residence, resident in the Mapunda neighborhood, as one of the suspects in this criminal action who had hired, on the instructions of the principal, Isalino Musselenga Kayôo " Vin Diesel", 23 years old.

Another suspect of material authorship, identified as Gelson Guerreiro Ramos, aged 22, is at large, being sentenced to 13 years in prison in the process of kidnapping and attempted murder in the “Miss Huíla 2018 Case, but released due to the appeal filed by the lawyer. (read here: https://angop.ao/noticias/sociedade...or-suposto-envolvimento-em-grupo-de-marginais).

All suspects, with the exception of the widow, have a history with the National Police for crimes of robbery using a firearm and kidnapping, according to Manuel Halaiwa, which is why they would have been asked to execute the North American citizen.

Execution paid for R$50 thousand

According to Manuel Halaiwa, Elias, knowing Isalino's practice, enticed him to carry out the task in exchange for money, when a total amount of 50 thousand US dollars had already been saved, which started with 400 dollars for the preparatory acts and barely consummated, they would receive nine thousand.

Three days before the crime, said the criminal officer, the “manager”, the security guard (Elias) went with the citizen to the scene of the crime, to see the place where she would attract her husband, an inhospitable place with a low number of people.

On the day of the crime, the suspects rented a vehicle from a blue rent-a-car, branded Beijing with a daily rate of 52 thousand kwanzas and went to the location and simulated a breakdown and then acted when the woman put herself in the woods. inside, supposedly to urinate.

SBT's investigations indicate the presence of a third suspect, identified as "Marcos" by one of the suspects, in addition to Isalino and Gelson, whose identity has not yet been determined, according to the spokesperson, who after the murder was completed, searched for Elias and they received the nine thousand dollars from him, returned the vehicle and rented another one to travel to Namibe, returning to Lubango and then taking different directions.

The three prisoners are in preventive detention ordered by a judge.

Manuel Halaiwa stressed that the American embassy is monitoring the process, via the SIC general directorate, and contacts have also been made with the other family members.

With evidence, he said, the vehicle used to carry out the criminal act, the murder weapon (a knife from the United States that the victim allegedly offered to Elias) and four million and 500 thousand kwanzas were seized.

Angola , being a progressive state, abolished the death penalty back in the 90's .. 92, or 93, I think.. Luckily for Jackie, ey. Lucky they didn't take up missionifying in Zimbabwe. At least, Jackie would have been spared the death penalty there, they don't do it to women. But imprisonment in Zimbabwe would be a lot worse than Angola is going to be.

....It would be so much easier for the highly esteemed Manuel if all this hanky panky was done by only Angolans, or, if it had to be foreigners, why couldn't it be some naughty folks from Burundi, or Gabon.?

Still.. the fallout would have been just as complicated and distasteful if it had been a French outfit, or a Spanish, or worst of all, a British Organisation. ..

SBM.

I read up on the "Miss Huila 2018 case" that Ramos was previously involved in. It involved Beatriz Alves, Miss Huila 2018 (I believe this is a pageant?) who was part of a criminal association in Lubango. From the linked article about the 2021 arrests of those involved in the criminal association: "The gang also included a pastor of the Pentecostal Church of the Kingdom of God."

So if we look at the details - of course none of it may be true - but here goes. So the 3 of them (the couple and the guard - presumably not 5 kids to add to the mayhem) are driving along somewhere. The (alleged) destination would have been planned in advance, to allow for an ambush. Of course the husband would have known what the alleged destination was - I wonder if he had the chance to mention it to someone? Or possibly the trip and destination were genuine, and the ambush was only planned after the trip was planned. Perhaps the plotters had been waiting for a suitable journey, ie one through some countryside, rather than urban streets. The guard is driving, as it was mentioned that he pretended the car broke down. If he wasn't normally the driver, that might be suspicious in itself. So presumably hubby was in the passenger seat, and wife in the back. When the car stopped, the driver/guard would have got out and opened the bonnet/hood, as men do (whether they know anything about engines or not :) ) Didn't the report say that the husband was stabbed in the car? If so, that was pretty quick. Why wasn't he also getting out to peer at the engine? And if he was stabbed pretty much immediately after the vehicle stopped, wifie leapt out of the back seat and disappeared behind a tree at lightning speed, didn't she. The alleged 2 attackers, where had they been waiting? Behind the trees, by the side of the road, already in the vehicle? Too many questions. Why don't we all meet together and do some roleplaying?
The spot was where Beau took Jackie for driving lessons.

Seems pretty firm about it being $50.000.00 USD.. where does a Minnesota Missionary's wife get 50 thou to lash out with to buy off a couple of assassins?

The problems, .. that amount of US currency in their possession at home, or even able to draw it from a bank would be complicated and time consuming... she might have been withdrawing small sums for weeks, maybe.... I'm trying to get a grip on the logistics of the event. She'd have to have the money , the $400, on the day.

So she has to know the day of the crime to be done... She has to have cover for the 5 kids, AND a story for coming home without Dad, as would be usual after a driving lesson. There are a lot of hoops and hurdles to be run thru and jumped over here, requiring a cool head, and a committed accomplice.. this is not a murder that people went about all cackhanded on impulse...

'All three are Angolan men in their early 20s — one was a guard at the Shroyer residence — and all have criminal records of armed robbery and kidnapping, according to the Angolan federal Criminal Investigation Service.'

Underlined by me... How was this guard, Bernadino Elias , employed by this mission , with his criminal record ?... all have criminal records, for , of all things, armed robbery, and kidnapping.

Yet he gets a job, as a guard, in a mission household.

Something mighty odd there.
I wondered that, too. Perhaps Jackie found out and even extorted him to commit the murder? Perhaps she found out and it presented opportunity to her?

It seems to me she would have to know of his record. Surely, Beau would know , due diligence and all that, they have 5 (FIVE) kids living at home with them, AND A KNOWN CRIMINAL GUARD, people, I ask you, is this normal??

Another article I saw (I wasn't able to Google translate, but the Portuguese MSM original is ^^^) said R50k. That would be South African Rand. This would seem more likely to me.
Definitely all planned out.

I bet Beau's Portuguese wasn't good at all. He probably had no way to vet an employee history, and Elias came over from a security agency, per MSM ^^^.

I saw that too, yet it 's even spelled out in the article.. '

Certainly , the R would indicate SA Rand,
1 South African Rand =
0.057 US Dollar

Which is actually more money than kwanza converted...

The whole criminal enterprise only lasted 4 days. Beau dead, Jackie charged with murder, in custody , 2 men charged with murder for hire, and in custody, one man still to be apprehended, charged with murder for hire ..

All that for 4 days. That's about 200 years prison time all up between the four of them.

Possibly Jackie's Portuguese was a lot better than Beau's, and she took advantage of that.

I just don’t understand how Jackie thought she was going to get away with this! Does she think Angolan LE are dumb?

  • #318
Could it possibly get any worse for the children?

No it couldn’t.

Jackie mentioned on her Instagram that their oldest was starting college at Liberty University. They have an online program, so perhaps she wasn’t leaving Angola.

That whole photo is nuts, IMO. Those snacks are probably expensive! It might be cheaper and more appropriate to buy them a decent dinner. Photo op, I think.
Perhaps she thought she was further ‘savioring’ (new word for lack of an already existing one coming to me at this fatigued moment!) them and introducing them to how life would probably be if only they were sitting in another country and not Angola.
