BIG CHANGE NOW BEING REPORTED!!!! (Fabulous news in my opinion...and I can now breathe a sigh of relief.)

The Shroyer kids — ages 9 to 17 — are now with family in the United States and receiving expert care, according to a news release from SIM.

That’s great news! Thanks for posting!

So happy to hear the kids are safe and back on US soil. I feel Jackie’s Mom will ensure they receive everything necessary. Will they be able to communicate with Jackie I wonder? Regardless of the circumstances, they need to be able to talk to their Mom.

KNOX.... Yes it is great news. I have been holding my breath on this one for MANY reasons. And, I think this info and link from "advisory" will suffice as to why.

"Exercise increased caution in Angola due to crime and health. Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.

Violent crime, such as armed robbery, assault, carjacking, and homicide, is common. Local police lack the resources to respond effectively to serious criminal incidents."

Thank goodness.

This is the only realistic outcome I see for the future of these children

Phones inside would not usually be available to inmates.. Mail, most likely.

SP - Serviço Penitenciário ( if it comes up in Portuguese, there is a translation button )

There is a mission at this prison, not a mission as perhaps Jackie would see it but nonetheless, it's mission is to re educate women prisoners, ....

In Australia, I get almost the exact same advice if I plan on travelling to the USA.. ( which, currently, I am not ) ...

From my Govt. site

Safety

  • Avoid areas where demonstrations and protests are occurring due to the potential for unrest and violence. Monitor media for information, follow the instructions of local authorities and abide by any curfews.
  • Violent crime is more common in the United States than in Australia. Gun crime is also prevalent. If you live in the United States, learn and practice active shooter drills.
  • There is a persistent threat of mass casualty violence and terrorist attacks in the United States. Be alert, particularly in public places and at events.
  • Severe weather and natural hazards include earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides, avalanches, hurricanes, tornadoes, winter storms, extreme temperatures, wildfires, and floods. Monitor weather conditions and follow the advice and instructions of local authorities, including evacuation orders.

Well yes... But in her defense, while that is all true in various parts, the US is really rather a biggish county … and the weather totally depends on the season  :D ;)

:) the US just has a lot more people than Australia!! (And guns … but that’s another issue ) and the advisory doesn’t apply to many areas in the US, but it all does apply to some areas..,

to the point..,

Angola is much smaller than the US and different diplomatic relationships with the US compared with other areas … and I personally don’t know how generalizable the travel advisory would be to the whole country.., moo

And that may have been exactly what Jackie and her murdering friends were counting on, JMO.

Can’t get more serious than murder. They thought local LE would chalk it up to a random robbery gone wrong perhaps.

I’m very curious to learn who called to report the crime. We know Jackie was there according to some reports. So did she explain how the murder went down? Say she was off in the bushes nearby and heard screaming? Did she hide to save her life?

I’m assuming the three in the rental car left.

I am hinting there was a clandestine relationship, involving the person arrested. I have no proof at all so it's purely MOO

Just reminding the Alphabet agencies of my unique set of skills…. And I don’t lean on things

The CIA and FBI, need to realize my observation skills, I also don’t lean on walls or items which is a dead give away to American intelligence operatives.

It was a joke, I’m too old to be a spy!

Edit: I made that original post I quoted a few weeks ago so I was pointing out I knew it was an affair from the start

I thought it was just me , being picky. And getting Malaria again and again... Surely they had all the shots going before heading to Brazil and then a normal person would have boosters, for Malaria, Yellow Fever, Dengue ( which they may have mistaken for malaria ) heptitas,a and b.. and even a booster for mumps and measles.. adults, too., .before Angola, and they stopped taken the tablets. People, I ask you, is this normal?

*edit* this is not a comprehensive list of what immies and vacs you absolutely should have..

see Fact sheet about malaria
I don't understand the malaria thing at all. They must've slept with mosquito nets, yes? But Malaria is also not something you have and get rid of, like a cold. And then you get it again, like a cold. It kills people. Some have long term lingering effects. So, I think there's mis-communication about this.

You’d think SIM the organization they worked with would have had strict rules on malaria prevention. Is there an age that shouldn’t take the pills? It seems that their younger kids got it.
In the old days, there was a liquid dosage of malaria meds. So, yep, there would be doses for children.

You'd think SIM would get all their missionaries in a headlock, down on the floor and shoot every thing into them, right back to cholera and typhoid, and even leprosy, everything. Make it compulsory, They are playing with peoples lives , where they feel that God has 'sent them'.. And maybe God has, I don't know how that works.

W.H.O. has a tremendous program world wide of eradicating malaria, and it has, in many many countries, my own is one of them, although dengue fever up north heaves up every now and then.,
Yes, on the malaria program. IIRC is funded by Gates.

Some further input about Beau's sister and her ongoing difficulties with the State Dept...

''''Roering said the family spoke to Jackie prior to her being taken into custody, as well as Jackie’s family members and 'SIM USA, the global missionary group the Shroyers were working with. Roering said her family has two points of contact with SIM USA. She also noted that U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach’s office has offered to assist with various paperwork.

This week, the embassy did reach out to Roering’s father about the repatriation of Beau’s body and information about a will. SIM USA is handling repatriation on the African side, she said.

The family has asked for a death report, death certificate and other documents related to the crime but has so far received nothing, according to Roering, who says she was told by the embassy official that information would be given to SIM once it’s completed, with the idea that SIM would then pass it along to family. ( is this usual??)

On Tuesday this week, Roering asked the embassy duty officer for the email address of the lead investigator. Roering asked again on Wednesday and didn’t receive a response. Late Thursday evening, she says she sent another email and received a response stating that they’re still working on getting the investigator’s email address.

Roering says the family has learned about the details of Beau’s death through Angolan media, but the family cannot be sure what they’re reading is completely accurate.'

( soooo  a will. ... )
IMO they're expecting too much. It doesn't strike me as strange that it's taking so long. I'm impressed Jackie was allowed to call her mother before she was taken into custody. That's very kind, and probably exceptional.
I would guess Angolan authorities are taking their time to get their investigation just right. They also might have a hint about where the 4th perp is hiding out.

IMO they should try the Angolan embassy in DC. This is an Angolan investigation, and Angola is a sovereign nation. The US Embassy is merely a conduit AFAIK. They are not a source of info, just a facilitator.

I wonder actually if there would be a bit of medical skepticism. It sounds like a fairly conservative organisation, and I feel there is probably a good bit of overlap between conservative evangelical Christianity, homeschooling, and anti-vax/medical skeptic views, maybe mixed with a bit of faith healing. I don’t mean as an official position of the organisation, but I suspect a lot of free choice could be left to individual families so as not to be pushing more establishment views in communities of supporters in the US that may not align with some conservative beliefs on personal liberty. This doesn’t seem like a mission that was actually about doing meaningful work, maybe more about bringing in donations, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the health of Angolan people was not prioritised over political ideology among donors back at home. JMO
At the very least, Yellow Fever vax is required for entry into Angola. This would be checked on arrival. There would be a formal certificate of compliance. This is true for many countries.

And all of the meds have very unpleasant side effects, which vary from person to person.
