I had a problem with the 98% O2 blood level. It was never explained by the State to my satisfaction. JMO
Why is that a problem for you? Normal levels are anything 95% or over.

FWIW - The Superintendent of our school district (Minnesota) sent out an email after the verdict was announced.

It stated they understand students may experience strong emotions regarding the verdict. They appreciate and acknowledge the rights the students have in advocating for what they believe in and they encouraged parents/guardians to talk with students about how they may be feeling about the verdict and the importance of expressing themselves appropriately. They also provided local resources for these conversations.

I agree. I would reinstate Lane personally. He was not culpable.

Disagree. Chauvin was 100% guilty IMO. Lane's actions were very different that day and I think the evidence shows this.
He is charged with aiding and abetting a person who was just convicted. He's not going to win. JMO

oh wow Morries Hall says he will carry the story ahead and write a book!!! He says he is going straight.

Oh please.

If not for his actions, poor Floyd might never have faced the predicament he did that day. MOO

We need to invest more money into mental health and drug addiction services, IMO, but when so many can't even afford a primary healthcare visit, what hope is there?

We CAN, SHOULD, and MUST do better. All MOO.

Why was his blood oxygen level normal? Was it normal through the whole incident? If so I would agree with Nelson that GF had a cardiac arrhythmia that caused a lack of oxygen to his brain. JMO

“We expect to bring another case (in the coming months?). We will NOT be talking about that.”
- GF legal team speaking

That is Keith Ellison, Attorney General of MN, the lead of the team of prosecutors. He is talking about the other officers. He is not Mr. Floyd's legal representative but rather the state.

Be kind, WS Friends.
See you next time.

I'm confused. What grounds would there be to not overturn this trial?
I dont think it works like that. You have to have grounds TO overturn it.

It's sad that riots across our nation have resulted in over two billion dollars in damages over George's murder.

YET the entire majority of the country of ALL RACES immediately came together to condemn what DC did to George. Also all police departments everywhere condemned it as well.

I just find that very ironic, and very sad as well for all the businesses that have been destroyed.

Jmho

I don’t find it ironic. This was an extremely visible and very obvious example of police brutality against a black person. So people couldn’t deny reality. Including LE leaders.

And rioting that happened over this case wasn’t just because of this case but a culmination of case upon case, injustice upon injustice. Unending bias and oppression for a whole group of people that leads to them getting the short end of the stick in every game that’s played from education, housing, employment, medical care, treatment in stores and restaurants, in parks and sidewalks and pools. And in all interactions with LE starting as small children at school.

My experience with black people is they’re my neighbors, postal workers, court reporters, court clerks, professors, small business owners, cops, judges, lawyers, bankers, etc. But it’s vastly harder for the average person to get to those places when the deck is stacked against them and the research is too vast and definitive that the deck is indeed stacked against black people.

So what’s ironic to me is the full throated condemnation of the worst of the broken hearted and desperate of a population while the worst of another population are never condemned for acting the same way in celebration of something like a sporting event win! Not due to hopeless outrage. That’s amazing to me.

Finally, once again, we have had millions upon millions of people peacefully protesting. Those who commit crimes like arson and looting cause a ton of visible, disgusting damage but they are a small fraction of those crying out for change.

It just didn’t have to happen this way. It really didn’t. If Chauvin would’ve got off his neck and rendered first aid, this wouldn’t have gone this far. Was George Floyd perfect? No he wasn’t. But he did not deserve to have his life abruptly ended and miss out on his daughter’s life over a fake $20. Not all law enforcement officers are bad. But this now shows that they cannot do whatever they want and get off Scott free. I am thankful that a man who was senselessly taken from this world got justice for his life being taken too soon. I am thankful he can now rest easy. Being a drug addict with health issues does not give someone the right to take their life away from this earth. I hope things change, I really do. I fear they won’t. But I hope that they do. RIP George Perry Floyd Jr.

What he did was wrong I definitely agree with that but I do think the police training has a lot to answer for. They really need to sort that out going forward.

Yes, the people they have sworn to protect are not the enemy. Whatever happened to community policing where cops walked the beat and actually got to know the neighbourhood instead of driving around viewing everyone through a lens of distrust.

I’m a little eager for the trials of the other officers TBH. I don’t think his actions were all that different, as were his words. Had his actions been different, we might not be here today. That’s just how I feel now. That’s subject to change.

Well IMO he was a rookie cop working under the direction of senior officer. He repeatedly showed concern for GF welfare as per bodycam evidence. He also ceased kneeling on him fairly quickly in the restraint. The facts are different and it's a separate case. I guess all is to be determined when we come to it but I certainly don't agree that it's a slam dunk based on today's rightful verdict.

MOO

There would have to be grounds to overturn it. Not to NOT overturn it. There has to be some sort of reversible error in what led to the verdict, on the part of the judge, or some sort of grave juror misconduct. Just not agreeing with the verdict or thinking the facts don’t fit will not suffice. It’s really not easy to overturn a verdict. Even with valid grounds.

Wow! We are just waking up here in Australia. ALL THREE COUNTS!!! Justice!

There's a decisive decision if there ever was one.

RIP George.

I completely agree. I'm satisfied that we got justice, but there still is a long way to go.

I was at work when the verdict was read. I am so glad the jury got it right.

When is sentencing?
