back to work, but before I go.....

Court TV is replaying the information regarding the ate too/ain't do testimony.

Listening this morning, I think I heard GF say, "Get off my face". Did anyone else hear that? ( shortly before the ate/ain't statement.)
I heard him say, "my face is gone," and "my face cut up bad," right before the "ain't do" comment so it's possible he did say "get off my face."

Exhibit 949 screenshot taken from 20:21:44. This exhibit moves around from back to front, just doing one screenshot here vs. multiple

“His knee was on the neck 90% of the time”.

i hope Nelson doesn’t sound hostile or rude with this witness. If the witness is likable to us, I can imagine he’d be likable to the jury as well. And being hostile or rude may come off wrong. JMO

#DerekChauvinTrial - Tobins says #GeorgeFloyd death caused by: Handcuffed, prone position, knee on neck, on back. Shows these diagrams.

Tobin says the effects on the breathing are very similar whether the knee is on the neck or the back.

This witness explains things in layman terms, so easy to understand.

Great visuals too.

I agree. What got me was when he just said he was squished. Pressure on his back, and pressure on his chest.

I'm leaning towards 2nd degree, heavily.

Paraphrased "is almost as if a surgeon had removed his lungs"

#DerekChauvinTrial - Note: Per Dr. Tobin's opinion, knee on neck or knee on back - both have similar effects on breathing. That's not going to help Kueng at his trial.

CAr.jpg

Dr. Tobin involving the jury in his testimony by telling them to notice what their diaphragm does when they take a breath in and out.

Dr. Tobin says #GeorgeFloyd couldn't do any front to back movement due to being squished between the officers on him and the pavement.

Dr. Tobin says there was virtually little opportunity for Floyd to get any air in his left lung due to knee on neck.

Tobin says the officer holding Floyd's left hand in what we've heard is a "pain compliance" position is pressing his own wrist into the back of his chest and contributing to the inability to breathe effectively.

I've watched a lot of trials. Nelson is very laid back and calm compared to defense attorney I have watched IMO

Good morning everyone!

Do we know who the defense has on their list for experts? @sds71 ?

Good morning everyone!

I am not 100% sure he believes in his case...just my feeling and could be some jurors think that way too?

red lines are tongue/empty space

Took a snip of this because I think it will be important later.

Boy how does Nelson approach this witness...he almost has to ask questions of him and not sure where he will get.

ETA: I'm talking about Nelson, not the witness

I don't know about that, it's hard to tell without having something to compare it to, like past cases.
Am I wrong that he has defended LE previously? Is this his "thing"?

#DerekChauvinTrial - Tobin:clearer view how his left wrist is being "rammed in" his back. Also noting second pic showing GF pushing his knuckles against the tire to lift right shoulder off the street. "This is his only way to try to get air in his right lung"

Lungs.jpg

Tobin: On the left side GF is trying to take a breath in. On the right side he's breathing out. "The shoulder is an ineffective way of breathing" but it's what you have to do when everything else is failing.

Tobin again interacting with jurors asking them to take their fingers and place them on either side of the Adam's apple....

Looks like prosecutor Blackwell was also doing the demonstration.

The strongest argument I can think of as a defense attorney is that this testimony focuses on struggling to breath. Not the source of the struggle. But if you expand past that into an area that this witness is an expert be careful he doesn’t destroy your cross. Let’s wait and see
