Nelson is all over the place...judge probably asking him where he is going?

Yeh think Nelson will appreciate that break... "It's been a long week" after all.

I'm a bit sad for him. I want to hear a clear defence but it's really falling flat.

(Yeah like I said on Day 1, I think the evidence that has and will be presented is very, very strong (based on Blackwell’s opening statement). Jmo.)

State seemed to logically go through questions but I do think Nelson got in points about judgment calls and situational awareness. Also about de-escalation (I hate that word and so does phone) as they never actually hobbled him..

I am glad they have taken break too!!

UKSleuth is transcribing the trial...

Link to video, please. Respectfully, I have watched video from the officer’s approach to his vehicle and what you say is not accurate.

Floyd was screaming he couldn’t breath before any knee to neck - his face was grimaced the entire time he was conscious.

For the Cheif to use Floyd’s facial appearance and Floyd’s pleas as evidence of pain caused by the cop knee/neck is disingenuous -

(We will have to respectfully agree to disagree here very strongly. I’m not up to elaborating at the moment. Peace.)

Off the top of my head by memory I could start with Exhibit 17. Leaving it at that.

Court tv has reporter who was in court this am

She is saying the jury has been v attentive. When doc was on stand this morning they were paying attention when he was talking about oxygen deprivation. Some furrowed brows!

The Chief is pointing out the unclear manner in which he is asking these questions...guess Nelson is going for some smoke and mirrors ie confusion

reminder - defense doesn’t have to PROVE anything -

REASONABLE DOUBT - this case is chock full of it

Perhaps I just need to consciously listen more when he's on because I didn't get any points ha! Think for me, the long gaps in his questions and scrolling the laptop all becomes a distraction from what he's saying. The Chief was quite keen to not give straight up yes or no answers though - he always wanted to add context, which possibly made it harder for Nelson's points to drive home and ultimately a very good state witness.

(You and I have been cool over the years, L4J, let me respectfully ask you this: (not arguing, asking respectfully, honestly curious—if this is tricky per moderator, no worries, apologies please delete)-do you think GF would be alive right now if DC hadn’t kneed on his neck? Not inciting conflict, quite the opposite, just a question. :) )

I agree about the odd behaviour before the restraint took place. And yet Nelson hasn't bought it in yet...

Don't agree it's disingenuous for the Chief to say his face was in pain when he was in the floor though. It was. The fact is, at that point (regardless of cause) he was dying.

I agree the Chief seems to not exude authority as much throughout his testimony. His body language is subdued. But I think it could be a Minneapolis thing - different cities have different cultural/social behaviors. A NYC police chief I feel would behave much differently, body language wise. I think we expect a certain attitude from LE and so far these officers have been pretty subdued. Although I feel like Zimmerman had a quiet kind of authority and self-assurance that came through despite his subdued demeanor.

Nelson has to be losing credibility with this unruly mob theory. But as we know he’s just going for 1-2 jurors for a hung jury. I also suspect he’s banking on the public perception of the rioting that happened following the incident and the current unease/increased crime rate.

I think what happened to George Floyd was a perfect storm of poor health, poor decisions, drugs and non-compliance during police interaction

pretty much the same thing that killed Eric Gardener

agree - he was dying, in my opinion, pretty much the whole time - I would imagine his heart was pumping like crazy & his lungs were filling with fluid - an awful was to die

So far Nelson has made no points that I have heard.

He's getting deeper and deeper in it. Probably why he already feels like "it's been a long week."

I would expect that during the Defense turn at bat

Interesting, and you may be right, but if the car wasn't running, then I think we can all agree that that stream of liquid on the ground was not condensation from the A/C evaporator.

Dunno. As when I go to the grocery store I pull up and immediately turn my car off, Often I will come back to my car and see the the condensation from the cold of the AC has hit the warm weather and there is a line of fluid on the asphalt.

More common than not where I live in the south, yet folks who don't have hot in summer may not see condensation in their parking space or in their garage which I see... so I have a pre existing bias I guess. It appears that the case has not focused on such.

Don't know what it is, just saw the beginning of it when he first went down that I did a screen shot of. Why that was at the back of the car, I don't know as AC unit in cars is in the front engine? Don't know about SUV's.

But when he was telling them he couldn't breathe it was obvious he was alive, but in distress. In the last few minutes of the video his face has relaxed and you can see that he is dead. Maybe that's what he meant.

They are back in session

Asking witness about neck restraint. Just asked about physics degree and that witness would not know about the amount of force used
