The next juror was excused for cause by judge (unknown reason as was off audio, press not allowed to release info)

Break until 10 till hour...

We are back with judge. Reason last person kicked by the judge (when was off audio)... (I did a verbatim on rewind at 50% speed)

"it is apparent that this juror was acquainted with one of the witnesses in this case who is a central person in the states case and will be testifying about relatively sensitive material. I think her acquaintance is close enough for her to bring it up and determined it was too close a connection with central witness that cause challenge would be appropriate......... I would note that given the nature of the witness's testimony who's gonna be testifying that it could affect the witnesses testimony ....... and it would be, I'm sure, uncomfortable for them...

Current female PJ is on stand.. they are taking to no audio to discuss personal stuff

*puts in mental note, if ever on a major trial... put responses to sensitive questions "prefer not to answer as my entire private questionnaire can be released to media eventually, please do in-camera during voir dire"*

Ya think that may get me kicked for cause... and then of course, I would say that Websleuths is my primary source for docs and info.. which is an internet sleuthing site...??? :p:D:eek::)... kicked for suuuuuuuuuuuuure!

I am still surprised they are not asking anyone what social media they follow, and only focusing on MSM.. as they even did such 10 years ago in the Casey Anthony trial.

#DerekChauvinTrial - PJ89, female, nurse. On questionnaire wrote, "How can police kneel on someone until dead. Was kneeling on him appropriate?"

18m
PJ89 - Nelson asked if she was asking in the abstract or does she have an opinion? She said she thinks it was too long given that Floyd died

17m
PJ89 - Judge ordered audio off after Nelson asked if she'd be more comfortable discussing police interaction and talking about family members with the audio off.

14m
PJ89 says she doesn't believe blacks and other minorities receive equal treatment in the justice system.
She 'strongly agreed" with police make her feel safe.

9m
Nelson has said twice during this questioning of PJ89 that - "this case is not about race"

9m
PJ89 is a nurse. Nelson asks her if she works or has ever worked in an E.R. She said no. She has been involved in life saving efforts.

7m
PJ89 - Nelson: Do you think it's fair to second guess resuscitative efforts? She said not exactly but they debrief after a "code blue" to access what went wrong, what went right

6m
PJ89 - Nelson: Imagine you're in the deliberation room and the subject of medical issues comes up, do you say to the jurors that "I'm a medical person, I know better..." She says it depends on the instructions given to her.

4m
- PJ89 - Judge Cahill then tells her she's not allowed to be an expert witness in the jury room and asks if she can avoid being that....she says yes.

3m
PJ89 - a lot more defense table huddles during this questioning than normal. Defense finally passes for cause. State now up.

#DerekChauvinTrial - PJ89 is a cardiac care nurse and works with COVID-19 patients that are on ventilators.

1m
PJ89 wrote on questionnaire that she'd like to know if #GeorgeFloyd was armed. She says she thinks that would impact the officers decision on how to act.

1m
PJ89, female nurse, has been SEATED as juror #10.

#DerekChauvinTrial - State uses their 6th strike to dismiss PJ87.

State: 6/10
Defense: 12/18

6m
PJ88, female. Heard news about the settlement, was initially shocked, but "brushed it off". Judge Cahill ordered audio off to ask the next question as he's afraid the question/answer may identify her.

I'll wait about 15 minutes so I can copy/paste more tweets.... instead one of two.

Potential juror #88 - nurse. After the first questions by defense, the defense went into huddle. They came back and asked if she would give her opinion based on being a nurse... defense AND judge said can you avoid being an expert witness. And judge said "you cannot be your own expert witness"

Whoa... I'm surprised because I thought that is what a juror is all about.. that you brought your own experience into such.

I could never be a juror as I would always bring to my opinion... based on training for evaluation into deliberations. (as I have similar background)

I had no idea that folks could not do such as to interjecting her opinion based on training and background. Interesting.

Off to states questions..... she is seated as #10!

I am pretty offended that local media here in MPLS is reporting the following : "ury selection continues Thursday in the trial of Derek Chauvin. The trial is ... She identified herself as a cardiac care nurse who lives in Edina. " It will not but a few minutes for media to identify her...Edina is not that big and only two hospitals that she probably works at. That is too much detail and just WRONG. I live in Edina and thought I was hearing things...I did not hear any of the other jurors ID'd by specific area of Henn. Cty they live in.

That depends on whether the settlement testimony is allowed . If it is, then it's fair game to discuss that during deliberation.
I really don't think it will be allowed. During deliberations you never know what the jurors will bring up and once said, you can't un-ring the bell. I've had jurors bring up evidence that was not allowed during the trial and of course jurors think about this information as they decide the verdict.

The judge yesterday specifically said it would not be allowed when I was listening to live feed MOO

Potential Juror 91 is a grandmother.

When they got packet in the mail, says "I guess I was kind of excited to possibly have an opportunity, never served on a jury before", feels strongly it's their civic duty.

Juror says initial concern was #COVID but has vaccine now.

@Niner As you know, I do not excel at posting tweets, but in the absense of another volunteer, I will take it on to the best of my ability.
