Nelson replaying the short clips is not helping Chauvin's case IMO. Quite the opposite. We all watched him kill Floyd in slow painful, every gasp and cry, detail throughout the trial, and during the state's closing. Nelson is hammering home the state's case IMO with this tact.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s really interesting to see his expressions without the mask. It’s almost (almost) a defiant type look.
Entitlement.

I think Nelson is making him actually look more guilty now.

Yes, and droning on and on when the jury has heard all of his points more than once is not doing his argument any favors. He keeps telling the jury he'll be brief but he never is.

Here we go again...instructions...that even trial watchers are totally confused by. I thought I understood them and now I am confused. This is why we have hung juries. Getting very nervous.

The main thing with intent is that state doesn’t have to prove DC intended to kill! That’s the most significant piece IMO! Within the elements, state does have to prove DC intended to assault/cause harm. What that means mainly is that it wasn’t an accident. Hence, Schleicher “he didn’t trip and fall on GF”

TOO LONG! Time to end it Nelson. If you made any headway with the jury you're on the cusp of losing it. Their interest has to be faltering.

They may have lost trust in him at this point.

Yes let’s blame his death on everrrrrrryone and everrrrrrything EXCEPT his client

Be back later as my internet is limping. Perhaps due to winds.

The intent is in regards to use of force. The easiest way to understand it is - Did DC intentionally use unlawful force that caused the death of GF. IF yes, then that is 2nd degree murder.
If you believe the force was accidental, even if unlawful then 2nd degree murder charge is off the table.

I think the more we have Mr. Floyd video and in panic/agony is not good for the defense. It is much harder to listen and agree to his points when you are watching a man writhing, in agony, and pleading for his life. Mr. Floyd's voice in each clip sounds more and more desperate. And, the officers seem to be non-chalant. And, the crowd noise is not menacing.

I have found that when someone has a really good argument it is shorter and succinct- When a person isn't as sure of themselves, the argument goes on for a longer period of time and can be confusing as well.

I hope Blackwell keeps it short and sweet.

Hi geevee!!!! I disagree ... I am as attentive now as I was at 9am this morning, I hope the jury is too. I do hope they give them a lunch break before Blackwell's rebuttal though.

snipped

My guess is that will be the only thing the jury members will debate. Everything else is easier to decide, imo, but the intention to cause harm might be up for debate in the jury room. That is only for one charge, however, so not necessary to still convict on the other charges.

I really am wondering if the jury has tuned him out.

The state did the exact same thing. The pool reporter said the jury was losing interest at the end of their case too. Not seeing a lot of difference in either of their "droning on's". Nelson might be slightly more droning now but it's similar.

I'm glad that Nelson is covering all of the pertinent points of this case for the jury. JMO
