I am so sick of these dumb shootings. Minnesota has been ridiculous the past few years it’s sickening.

FOX 9 confirms at least one person has been killed with two shot inside the mall. Bloomington Police initially responded to the site at Nordstrom.

After a lockdown, the Mall of America confirms that guests can now leave the property, and the mall will remain closed for the evening.

Police: 1 dead in shooting at Mall of America, suspects at-large - Bring Me The News

19-year-old male was killed when shots rang out in Nordstrom.

At this time, no arrests have been made, but Hodges suggested they are looking for more than one suspect, saying that around a half-dozen people ran from the scene as shots rang out following a verbal altercation in the store.

Probably another press conference tomorrow

Another mall shooting tonight
I'd say I can't believe this happened just days before Christmas, but, sadly, I can believe it. :( I wonder how many people who were involved in last night's fight/shooting were also present at the fight in Aug'22? I'm betting this shooting investigation will be a bit more intense than the previous incident considering someone died.

Link to the thread covering the Aug'22 shooting incident:

How sad. I used to love going to the MOA. But, have not been there in years, and honestly, do not think I'd want to go there any more, because of the violence. Does anyone know how many shootings have occurred there since it opened?

I don't know, we actually went there for a vacation in the '90's, it was a lot of fun. Sad that a nice family place is becoming so violent and scary.

This Wikipedia page only mentions two shootings...but I know that there have been more. Probably the mall doesn't want to have too many of those documented.

It is sad but every time I see a mall trending on Twitter my first thought is that there was another shooting.

This time two malls were trending at the same time: Mall of American and Greenwood Park Mall. And both were trending because of shootings.

Boy, 17, arrested in fatal shooting at Mall of America - Bring Me The News

Snippets:
Five people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man at the Mall of America Friday, including an 18-year-old man who police believe pulled the trigger.

search warrant was executed at a building on the 200 block of Shelard Parkway in St. Louis Park Saturday morning.

Five people were taken into custody – three 17-year-old boys and two 18-year-old men.

all five at this point are going to be charged with 2nd-degree murder.

believed that the a longstanding feud was behind the shooting

the group involved ate at a White Castle after they fled the scene.

IMO
The headline states 17 yo while listing 18 yo in article.
All 5 were at the same place. Interesting
Google maps show apartments in that location.
12 hours after incident to arrest (8 pm to about 8 am). Wow
Seems strange that young men are hanging out at Nordstroms (expensive store)
The possible shooter is 18 yo so we'll learn his name soon.

5 arrested after MOA shooting

search warrant, executed by the St. Louis Park and Edina SWAT teams was conducted in St. Louis Park around 8:40 a.m., according to the chief.

An altercation between two groups led to the shooting death of a 19-year-old man inside the Mall of America on Friday night, according to Bloomington Police.

Police said an unrelated bystander was also hit by a stray bullet in their jacket but was not injured.

The victim was from Minnesota, but not a resident of Bloomington, according to the chief. At this point, investigators believe the 19-year-old was "involved in an altercation with a group of individuals" before shots were fired, police said.

5 people arrested after a 19-year-old was fatally shot at the largest shopping center in the US | CNN

Hodges said the fatal shooting was the first firearms-related homicide at the mall. There was a domestic-related fatal stabbing at the mall in 1999, he said.

gospel singer and football players were at the mall during the shooting

Jovonta Patton, a Billboard gospel singer, was filming an Instagram reel at a Gucci location inside Nordstrom when gunshots went off in the background.

Patton quickly ran to the back room of the store to hide for about 15 minutes, where about six or seven others had also taken cover, he told CNN.

Several New York Giants players were also inside the mall at the time of the shooting, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.

The team was staying at a hotel nearby ahead of a game against the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis on Saturday.

Malls have been declining in general.

MoA has been a very dangerous place for many years, despite the mall owners paying public relations firms large amounts of money to try and cover this up.

snioped for focus. @IceIce9
A fatal shooting? In MOA?
Bu-bu-but they say "Safety is our highest Priority"

Lots of rules. Some compliance, some violations.

Sad, sad, sad situation.

In the article posted above, it says this is the first fatal shooting and that there was a fall stabbing in 1999. It didn't say if there have been non-fatal ones.

The Police Chief sounds very angry, and rightfully so. I believe him when he says he'll lock up with them anyone who aided the alleged shooter(s) or the entourage. They've already rounded up five. They're still looking for a few more.
