MN- Minneapolis, mass shooting at church, multiple fatalities, possible explosive device found. Aug 2025

Shooting does not appear to be connected to any other recent shootings (ends that rumor).

Dozens of rounds were fired.

Believed to have fired all 3 weapons (rifle, shotgun, and pistol).

No word if he legally owned those weapons.

Black clothing, cargo type pants.

Side note but I really like that he repeats the question before answering it. Its sometimes so hard to hear the question being asked.
We rarely get a press conference this detailed, this early. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

From what I am hearing from a local, there is no security at mass (church service). I will say IMO because I don't have msm source atm.
I went to Catholic school. The only security measure was having school masses not open to the public and locking the doors after all students and staff entered the Church.

Since the shooter at Annunciation Catholic school sprayed gunfire from outside the Church, it's possible the Church doors were locked.

I went to set the DVR to catch the Emmanuel presser for later today since I won’t be home, and since my cable provider dumped Court TV I went to News Nation to record.

Then I see a presser for this church shooting with two dead children.

What is there to say that hasn’t been said every time this happens?

It feels to me that life is now navigating a world full of land mines, and it’s a matter of chance whether we become victims or not.

Have not had a chance to read this thread so I’m sure I’m missing some informative posts.

My heart goes out to these victims and their families.

Presser - shooter barricaded some of the doors of the church
I understood it as parishioners barricaded the doors from the inside. Maybe it was to prevent the shooter from getting in. imo

Quote from Wall Street Journal (behind paywall)
<snipped for emphasis>
“We believe it is one suspect, a sole shooter, we believe he is deceased. He is in his early 20s. He does not have an extensive known criminal history,” O’Hara said.

It wouldn't surprise me there was no special security. I once lived in south Minneapolis and this church is in a low crime area. It's not far from Minnehaha Creek which meanders through older but high-income neighborhoods.

What we know about the shooting

  • Two children are dead, ages 8 and 10, after a gunman opened fire at the Annunciation Catholic School during a morning Mass on the south side of Minneapolis, authorities said. Seventeen others, including 14 children, were injured in the mass shooting, police said.
  • The gunman, who was in his early 20s, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
  • The city of Minneapolis said that there is no active threat at this time.
  • Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives have at least one firearm in their possession from the shooter, and they are beginning the tracing protocol, according to an ATF source in Minneapolis...

"It feels to me that life is now navigating a world full of land mines, and it’s a matter of chance whether we become victims or not". Your words are very accurate

This is sincerely evil.
What would possess someone to fire randomly on a school full of young children while they are celebrating mass? Breaking stained glass windows and spreading violence during the most sacred of celebrations….
It’s truly sickening.

I’m assuming this is a young man who is well versed in violent video games & possibly a former student of the school?
We have become desensitized by the utterly violent junk on TV, the cra* that Hollywood spits out, disgustingly graphic and violent video games and music lyrics.

My heart cries for our children and future generations.
Parents need to sensor their children’s media consumption.
It’s a slippery slope.

In 5th grade I went to Woolworths and purchased an Alice Cooper “Billion Dollar Babies” album. When my mother saw it she marched me back to Woolworths and made them refund my money while bitching at them for selling smut to a 10 year old.
At the time I was embarrassed but it set the bar. My mom didn’t have the luxury of staying home- she worked full time and more- but she was relentless in being sure I didn’t do drugs and didn’t delve into evil. Grateful for her firm hand.

My heart aches for these children, this school and church, this community.
This is honestly one of the sickest premeditated acts of corruption I have been privy to
hearing about.

All IMHO

I have to wonder if there were security measures in place, as that Star Tribune article talks about the gunman firing from outside, through the windows.

Considering the weapon and the amount of shots allegedly fired, this would have been so much worse had he made entry.
Seems this person must have at least knew everyone would be gathered there for mass at that time because they targeted that area of the building. I don't know if this is publicly announced mass or is it for those attending the school and their families?

Will we have to think about security at masses? in churches?
Many churches already do have security. We attended a church in a military area, and we knew several members of the security detail. They dressed like everyone else for church, they didn't' stand out, but they were armed and were watching for threats.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara confirmed on Wednesday that two children were killed and 17 others were injured, 14 of whom were children.

"The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible," O'Hara said while addressing reporters.

This is a great technique to not only allow others to hear the question, but it gives the person time to think about how to answer the question. I always appreciate when people giving a presser do this!

Two children, 8 and 10 years of age, died in the church shooting as they sat in their pews. Praying.

God help us all.
