@kaitlancollins

Gov. Walz and Tom Homan met this morning. Walz’s office says he “reiterated Minnesota’s priorities: impartial investigations into the Minneapolis shootings involving federal agents, a swift, significant reduction in the number of federal forces in Minnesota, and an end to the campaign of retribution against Minnesota. The Governor and Homan agreed on the need for an ongoing dialogue and will continue working toward those goals, which the President also agreed to yesterday. The Governor tasked the Minnesota Department of Public Safety as the primary liaison to Homan to ensure these goals are met.”

IF the victim did not have appropriate ID on him he was in violation of this:

Subd. 1b. Display of permit; penalty. (a) The holder of a permit to carry must have the permit card and a driver's license, state identification card, or other government-issued photo identification in immediate possession at all times when carrying a pistol and must display the permit card and identification document upon lawful demand by a peace officer, as defined in section 626.84,
subdivision 1. A violation of this paragraph is a petty misdemeanor. The fine for a first offense must not exceed $25.

Problem: we have only those individuals who interfered with and removed evidence from the scene of their own crime and who denied local law enforcement access to that scene and evidence word on what evidence was or was not found at the scene of this murder (MOO) and many Americans do not find them to be credible at this point.
Indeed!

And that section goes on to say:

(b) A citation issued for violating paragraph (a) must be dismissed if the person demonstrates, in court or in the office of the arresting officer, that the person was authorized to carry the pistol at the time of the alleged violation.

So, by applying the simple rules of English comprehension - that we all learned in school, let alone Law School - not having the permit on you does NOT render the carry of the pistol unlawful because holding a permit is the only way to carry a pistol lawfully! Its lack of physical presence does not make carry or possession of the pistol unlawful.

“Yesterday, AFGE brought together labor and faith leaders from Minneapolis and across the nation to mourn our fallen brother from Local 3669, Alex Pretti. We honored his life and legacy and lifted up his family, his friends, his union, Minneapolis, and our nation in prayer.

“Today, we demand accountability.

“In the immediate aftermath of Alex’s killing, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem betrayed the public trust by slandering the good name of our union brother and calling him a “domestic terrorist.” Alex Pretti was a patriotic ICU nurse at a VA hospital who devoted his life to serving America’s veterans. That claim was reckless, defamatory, and unsupported by the facts. Noem was preceded in this false statement by Stephen Miller, Deputy White House Chief of Staff, who is also the architect of the chaotic and failed immigration policy in Minnesota.

“Our demand is clear: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was responsible for carrying out the policy that led to Alex’s needless killing, and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, the architect of that policy, must resign immediately. If they refuse, President Trump must dismiss them.

“Public reporting has established that Mr. Miller is the driving force behind the administration’s harsh immigration agenda. He personally directed its implementation and used high-pressure tactics to force compliance across the federal government. These were not abstract policy choices. They were imposed from the top and enforced without regard for the consequences.

“Secretary Noem willingly carried out this agenda. Secretary Noem made deliberate choices that reshaped the Department of Homeland Security and enabled this tragedy. Over the past year, she removed senior leaders, consolidated authority, and enforced aggressive immigration tactics that prioritized political objectives over professional judgment and public/officer safety. Those choices created the conditions that led directly to this tragedy.

“This conduct is consistent with Secretary Noem’s broader record at DHS. Under her leadership, TSA workers have faced sustained attacks on collective bargaining rights and union representation. At FEMA her actions have weakened frontline workers, undermined labor protections, and eroded accountability within the agency that is so critical to disaster preparedness and response. Over the past year, she removed senior leaders within the Department of Homeland Security and reshaped the agency’s command structure to ensure adherence to Mr. Miller’s aggressive immigration strategies. Those decisions escalated tensions, undermined professional judgment, and put lives at risk.

“Taken together, the actions of Miller and Noem, both before and after Alex’s killing, make clear they are unfit to serve in their current positions, or any position requiring the public trust.

“AFGE calls for a full and transparent investigation into Alex’s killing led by an independent third party. We also call for bipartisan congressional oversight to uncover the truth, ensure accountability, and begin repairing the damage to public trust.”

AFGE Demands Resignation or Termination of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller for Smearing Slain AFGE Member Alex Pretti as “Domestic Terrorist”

The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest federal employee union which also represented Alex Pretti, issued a statement Monday night calling for the resignations of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

What does this have to do with this case?

We really must be asking ourselves over and over and over............... Is History repeating itself???

And I strongly believe--and obviously MOO-- that all in the world should, at the very least, reflect on comparisons in history, and at the very most LEARN and READ and ABSORB how painful periods of time have been for all cultures, and stand for avoiding them again.

Germany was in a state of severe political polarization, economic devastation, and violent conflict that closely resembled a "civil war of opinion" in the years leading up to 1933. The political atmosphere was characterized by a near-complete breakdown of parliamentary democracy, with violent street battles between paramilitary groups—specifically the Nazi Sturmabteilung (SA) and Communist (KPD) fighters—becoming a regular feature of life.

But in this case, they did know who ICE was targeting. He went into the donut shop and the owner locked the door and ICE was unable to come in. At that point, ICE should have left the scene and gone to get a judicial warrant or whatever they may have needed to apprehend their target. That’s literally their ONLY job. They didn’t do that. They pushed over 2 women and then shot a man in the back.

I swear, people are totally forgetting about this very important statement. Moo.

ICE should have left the scene and gone to get a judicial warrant or whatever they may have needed to apprehend their target.

To be precise the text you linked
Keep in mind that Minnesota law states that the permit to carry must be on the person when they carry along with ID. He did not have those. So, he may not have been lawfully carrying.

First, according yo your source Alex did not have an ID. It says nothing about him having or not the permit on his person.

Second, the same source (the feds) that claims he did not have the ID, also claimed he was attacking the agents which, as we know, completely untrue.

Third, what we should be analysing here is not Alex's decision to carry, but the decision of the two agents to pump ten bullets into the back of unarmed man, who was pinned to the ground.

MOO 🐄

I certainly dont see it that way. ICE has requested that Minneapolis police assist with crowd control in these situations. The Mayor wont allow it. They aren't asking MPD to help them with the immigration arrests, just to keep the peace. Isn't that a police department's job? Neither one of these fatal shootings would have happened if police had been on scene to help with crowd control.
Well said.

Thank you PrairieWind. Can you link to that? I have no idea what this is. If you could, that would be great. Thank you.
Sorry, I should have done that. Looks like it has been posted. This is just the Minnesota revised statutes.

Another woman is facing charges after allegedly biting the finger of a federal immigration enforcement agent on Saturday in Minneapolis...

When the Border Patrol agent attempted to remove the mask Baierl was wearing, Baierl allegedly forcibly bit the middle finger on the agent’s right hand, the affidavit states.

The Border Patrol agent was wearing gloves at the time of the incident, but Baierl’s bite was still allegedly able to cause physical injury, the affidavit states.

Baierl was released from custody by a judge on her own recognizance. A preliminary hearing in the matter has yet to be set.

After reviewing a few posts that I deleted by PrairieWind and others a bit earlier, I am going to reinstate those posts.
Please understand that in the history of Websleuths, we have never had a situation like this. I am doing the best I can to keep the discussion fair.

From your article -

On Tuesday, DHS announced it was launching an investigation into a US citizen “who attempted to purchase a firearm on two separate occasions,” allegedly stated she wanted to “protect herself from ICE Agents, and also to kill ICE Agents.”

Wow, that is pretty scary, I hope they find her. Some of these people on social media are unhinged, to say the least. And they show up at protests, too, along with the "peaceful" protesters.

Well, that is obviously not acceptable at all. Saying she wants to "protect" herself from ICE agents, though - that seems to fall within her 2nd Amendment rights, to me? Self defence is lawful and isn't restricted on the basis of who your attacker may be, surely?

I'm no expert and not a US citizen but I think I've heard of protecting the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, or somesuch?

Snopes was wrong multiple times in the past.

MOO 🐄
Fair enough. I also linked to MBFC. If anyone can link a source proving different - I’d like to see it. moo

Here’s another fact check source -

5. Assessment and what remains unproven
Based on the supplied reporting, the claim that the phrase functions as a shorthand for Nazi-style collective reprisal is widely circulated and used rhetorically, and commentators tie it to Lidice and other Nazi reprisals—yet the sources provided do not include archival proof that the exact English wording “One of ours, all of yours” was an official Nazi slogan in 1942; the evidence in these excerpts is inferential and rhetorical rather than documentary. To move from plausible association to verified etymology would require primary-source confirmation—wartime orders, propaganda texts, or credible historian citations—not present in the materials supplied here, and that absence should temper absolutist claims even as the phrase’s invocation remains politically and morally potent.

Why was the border agent removing this woman’s mask? It is not illegal to wear a mask, as the border patrol all wear them.

that’s your opinion and you are free to think that. I think that the safest thing for Minnesotans would be to not have 3000 (poorly trained) Federal agents invade and occupy their city. IMO.
We wouldn't need that many federal immigration enforcement officers if the state and local leaders would do their part and allow their LE to provide the establishment of perimeters and boundaries between federal agents' operations and protester gatherings.

I disagree. Was he carrying ID and his permit? If not, he was not carrying legally.
Ah well then, shooting him 10 times in the street is justified!!!!! It all makes sense now....jmo.
