Some questioning latest round of Ferguson arrests: FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) - Some local officials and rights grou... http://www.ktrs.com/?p=6174

There was an officer standing back from the action, FILMING the arrests. I think the cops felt they had valid reasons for these arrests or they would not have done so in front of their camera and 3 or 4 other live streamers. They came out and made a LOUD declaration about the 11pm noise ordinance. Then a bit later, they warned that anyone using speech that incites violence, would be subject to arrest. And they began chanting hateful phrases soon after. So they were breaking both of those ordinances.

Patricia Bynes, a Democratic committeewoman of Ferguson Township who was at the scene, says protesters were warned against violence-inciting language but she didn’t know what protesters were saying.

She must be deaf then because I could sure hear "F*** the police" along with "We gonna shut this s*** down".

I just went back and tried to find a copy of the livestream I watched last night and it was not put up on the site. [mustafa]

I watched the arrests up close and personal, and the cops loudspeaker warnings were on that stream too. Interesting that it is not up on that site today. They usually always post their previous streams. You'd think they'd want to show the arrests if they were so unlawful and unfair.

eta; the stream immediately AFTER the arrests is posted. lol

If they were arrested for saying "F*** the police" there might be some meat to the lawsuit. As disgusting or revolting as some might find that, I don't know that that would constitute inciting a riot to the extent it's protected by their freedom of speech. "We gonna shut this s**** down" is a different story, though I personally think it's still too vague. I don't even know what it means. Gonna shut the PD down? If so, how? Shut the city down? If so, how? Now if they were encouraging and calling for people to throw molatove cocktails or rocks at the cops, that's a different story.

I believe LE has to this before someone gets hurt. Someone firing a gun behind the protestors the other night was far too dangerous with all those people standing there. Also having an officer fired upon by three gunmen on his way home shows it is getting way out of control. Not how we define peaceful. jmo

I thought the gun fire was in a neighborhood, not right behind the protesters?!?!? I never did hear any follow up about that though. I was hoping residents would turn whomever in. Also, was it ever established that the highway shooting was related? Last I heard was Belmar saying it was not related to the protests the best he could tell at the time. Just curious if anything new came out about that as well. Seems we always hear about these things but then never hear any follow up, or else I'm missing the follow up.

Oh, I think it will be pretty easy for LE to prove what was said. There is audio and video evidence. As far as what "We gonna shut this s*** down means", I would like to hear someone explain exactly what that is supposed to mean in a positive context.

More protesters arrested in Ferguson overnight

Overnight law enforcement officers declared that any protesters using language that incites violence would be arrested, according to democratic committee woman of Ferguson, Patricia Bynes.

12 protesters and 1 freelance journalist.. sounds like live-streamer to me.

I watched that one, too. He seemed genuine, if that's the word to use. And that "Z" live streamer turned it over to him when he (Z) took a break.

Dumb question about media. I know with regard to sporting events, I hear of "credentialed" media members. Is that just for events or are they credentialed in a more general sense? I know this sounds stupid, but it would be nice if the County had a system in place where real media members could get "credentialed". I'm tired of hearing someone from the media got arrested and find out it was just some Joe with an Iphone calling himself media. Then the instigators with cameras that get arrested can't go around blabbering about how LE is treating the media.

Yeah I don't know. I always took it to mean like people on strike who don't want others to cross the picket line. I never took it as they're going to storm the castle and pull off a coup.

It was still footage I hadn't seen. Interesting to watch.

So, I wasn't watching this stream. Did it say "Live" in a red box upper left hand corner of the screen?

Mine did, but I was watching Z.

Missouri Auditor Tom Schweich plans to launch audits of 10 municipal courts in the coming fiscal year, including the one in Ferguson, in the wake of concerns about fine-related abuses by local officials.

In an interview with the Post-Dispatch editorial board Thursday, Schweich said he also wants to audit Ferguson city records, and he encouraged a petition of local residents that would allow such a review.

“It looks like they need one, just from what I’m reading,” said Schweich. “You’ve got a voter registration thing right there … It shouldn’t be that hard to get the signatures.”

The arrest video I watched this morning shows protesters walk down the driveway towards LE. After that LE came down and started arrests. Once LE started walking to the protesters they started chanting loudly again. That was after they were warned about the noise and the language inciting violence.

I was watching at the time and it appeared to be behind the protestors because I thought I saw what looked like smoke. It may not have even been a gun but it was loud. Funny reaction was that the police standing in the line reacted but many of the protestors did not. So either they knew it was coming or they were so use to hearing gunfire that it did not phase them. As far as the officer who was shot at, I do not know what happened with that either. They seem to be downplaying the whole incident.
