Patricia Bynes, a Democratic committeewoman of Ferguson Township who was at the scene, says protesters were warned against violence-inciting language but she didn’t know what protesters were saying.

She must be deaf then because I could sure hear "F*** the police" along with "We gonna shut this s*** down".

Isn't that the truth!!??

And yes, people were arrested for interfering with other arrests. I thought the LEOs handled the situation in a calm, professional manner. They didn't rush the protesters. In fact, they practically strolled out there. People had plenty of time to just turn around and take off. I don't think LEOs would have given chase.

The irony of those live streams is that most are being done to "document" the treatment of the protesters by others (LEOs and citizens such as the restaurant owner). However, to me it's having just the opposite effect and documenting the actions of the protesters, thus making their lies about events show just how far they are going to exaggerate police (and citizen) actions. We, the watchers, are witnesses to the truth, regardless how protesters or "witnesses" or MSM outlets sugar coat it.

I was watching at the time and it appeared to be behind the protestors because I thought I saw what looked like smoke. It may not have even been a gun but it was loud. Funny reaction was that the police standing in the line reacted but many of the protestors did not. So either they knew it was coming or they were so use to hearing gunfire that it did not phase them. As far as the officer who was shot at, I do not know what happened with that either. They seem to be downplaying the whole incident.

I think I'm thinking of a different occasion because LE backed up from the street back up into the parking lot area but most of the protesters scrambled for a moment as well. The occasion I'm thinking of with the gunfire from the neighborhood was the occasion that the protesters started wondering if the cops had fired the shots to make it look like protesters. Crazy thoughts.

I was curious how LE was going to handle the protestors last night, because of the 60 million dollar lawsuit over 'false' arrests they received yesterday. Looks like they were not too worried. lol

I really thought there were going to be arrests because last night it was raining, so only the few hardcore protestors were left there. There were only about 20 but they were the frontliners and the main organizers. And they were talking about marching INTO the station. If I saw it, I can bet LE saw it cuz I am sure they are sitting in the office watching the same livestreams we are.

So it is no surprise that they finally got arrested. The cops came out on loudspeaker and reminded them about the noise ordinance. And they still chanted " We Shut da Chit Down" over and over. And they were right out front of the station. So even though on twitter they keep claiming they were arrested 'for no reason' ---they were warned.

Yes! I heard Sarah Pain, the *ahem* adult film star, suggesting that FPD was public property and they should protest accordingly.

Also, the first guy that was arrested was on top of a building  They posted a picture of it. I'm sure LE saw that, too

I just went back and tried to find a copy of the livestream I watched last night and it was not put up on the site. [mustafa]

I watched the arrests up close and personal, and the cops loudspeaker warnings were on that stream too. Interesting that it is not up on that site today. They usually always post their previous streams. You'd think they'd want to show the arrests if they were so unlawful and unfair.

eta; the stream immediately AFTER the arrests is posted. lol

Well WE witnessed it!!! And I'm not surprised the footage is conveniently absent, as, to me it shows people violating the law and flaunting that violation, being more than suitably reminded of the law and warned of the consequences, LE behaving in a professional manner, and people stepping in to impede them in their duties. In other words, it doesn't nothing to support the protester's cause and would be mighty hard to spin their way, so poof it goes. Again, this is why it is so important for us citizens to watch what is really going on there. Hard for people to spin what my own eyes see.

Yeah, sure. It's like the 'selective hearing' that teenager are afflicted with.

If they were arrested for saying "F*** the police" there might be some meat to the lawsuit. As disgusting or revolting as some might find that, I don't know that that would constitute inciting a riot to the extent it's protected by their freedom of speech. "We gonna shut this s**** down" is a different story, though I personally think it's still too vague. I don't even know what it means. Gonna shut the PD down? If so, how? Shut the city down? If so, how? Now if they were encouraging and calling for people to throw molatove cocktails or rocks at the cops, that's a different story.

After the cops came out and said they could be arrested for the noise ordinance and for any language that could incite violence, the protestors went and stood in the middle of the police station driveway, linked arms and chanted "FIGHT BACK 4 MIKE BROWN, FIGHT BACK , Fight Back" 'FTP, means Fock Da Po-Lice' and 'we gonna shut da chit down' .

So they were breaking THREE ordinances, imo. Blocking the driveway, noise and inciting violence.

eta: I think we al know what ' shut da chit down' means. It means shut down the city through protracted violence. They have successfully done so in many instances, like the farmers mkt and the street festival. Many stores have left. Probably some families have moved out. The police budget is going bankrupt.

I got a coiuple of messages showing where it is now posted. So it is there. I was looking in the wrong place.

Standing on the sidewalk or in the street in the middle of the night screaming vile words is protected by "their" freedom of speech? How about "my" right to be protected from public indecency? How about "my" right to be able to walk down the street of "my" town on the way to Walgreens to get medicine for "my" child and not be assaulted by such language and antics???!!!

I've always said "my" rights end where someone else's begin, and that's a two-way street. People can protest without screaming expletives at the top of their lungs. They might find they'd be taken a lot more seriously if they weren't behaving in such an uncouth fashion.

i noticed that the police were wearing gloves & don't think i've seen/noticed that before

edit . . . well, they can also increase the lawsuit by this # - interesting all the "suits" waiting for them to be released today.

What kind of gloves? Rubber, or something more substantial?

I would imagine LE, either local or federal or both, are downloading all those amateur 'journalists' and their reporting (cellphone videos).

So, I wasn't watching this stream. Did it say "Live" in a red box upper left hand corner of the screen?

Mine did, but I was watching Z.
IIRC, it had a "banner" streaming across the bottom to the effect that the site's twitter account would be announcing when the site would be going live. So I don't think it had the live red box in the corner. Maybe LJ can recall?

Dumb question about media. I know with regard to sporting events, I hear of "credentialed" media members. Is that just for events or are they credentialed in a more general sense? I know this sounds stupid, but it would be nice if the County had a system in place where real media members could get "credentialed". I'm tired of hearing someone from the media got arrested and find out it was just some Joe with an Iphone calling himself media. Then the instigators with cameras that get arrested can't go around blabbering about how LE is treating the media.
'Credentialed' media usually refers to those members of media given 'media passes' into certain events. They are handed out at designated areas, and reporters need some kind of proof they are indeed media to get one. Without that pass visible, any Joe Blow can not enter the event. Depends on the event (I suppose) as to whether 'credentialed' media will be a requirement.
