Being under the influence is voluntary, so the courts don't accept it as an excuse.

(Not that it will stop some MB defenders from saying it was a first and he didn't realize what it would do, and go back to the gentle giant characterization.)

The MB defenders and protesters have an excuse for everything AND it's always, everyone else's fault lol

And people were saying " Pot doesn't make you act crazy like that" and I'm thinking that sounds familiar.

the 'new' pot isnt like the old sleepy, munchies, pot back in the day.

Depends on the source, and somewhat, on the person. I've never once tried it, and I'd never trust "street pot," if I were to now. :chicken:

I do have a few friends who occasionally smoke it and handle it better than they do alcohol. I also know a lot of people who use it for real medical reasons, and I'm so very glad they have it.

I never thought MB needed pot as a catalyst for his actions that day though, even less so after seeing more every week about the local (Canfield*) attitudes toward LE, combined with his friends saying he used his size to intimidate people to give him his way.

But yeah, I'll also be surprised if MB was smoking plain pot.

* I said "Canfield" just as the nearest way I know of to separate the group MB hung with from the rest of Ferguson.

After spending the last couple weeks talking to a friend from there and then reading the Ferguson Friends FB group, I've developed a lot of respect and even affection for them.

I [emoji813]beat: Ferguson. ;)

[h=1]Demonstrators interrupt St. Louis Symphony singing a ‘Requiem for Mike Brown’[/h]
“It is my duty and desire to try to reach out and raise that awareness peacefully but also to disrupt the blind state of white St. Louis, particularly among the people who are secure in their blindness,” said Griesbach.

Two weeks ago, she and another “middle-aged woman who wear our mom jeans pulled up way too high” held up a sign at a Cardinals game that said “Racism lives here.” A pivotal moment for her was when people around them started chanting in response, “Hands up, don’t loot.”

She can thank the nightly 'protesters' for that.

If there is any hope of being taken seriously, they better untangle themselves from Michael Brown. He is the wrong poster child IMO

But does that excuse it or make it okay? BTW, my thinking is the tox screen is going to show more than just pot.

I'm right there with you on that.

I smoked pot back in the 60's 70's era. I haven't smoked it since but even back then, you sometimes got pot 'laced' with other things like acid. Today I have no idea what they mix street pot with. Some pot is synthetic, some is dangerous. IIRC, MB and his friends were dipping their pot in Nyquil so I have no idea what kind of high that would be or how that would affect someone. Would it make them laid back or violent?

Dipping the joints in cough syrups make it a very chemical high. And the effects vary, but can make people erratic and act very impulsively. Bizarre behavior is one side effect.

I logged into the live chat on Bam last night. Tried to say that to them. I said that I knew there were problems with racism in their area. But that making Mike Brown their HERO was not a good idea. Many said 'we are not making him a hero, it is not about Mike Brown...' And in the background we could hear the chanting " Mike Brown, we gonna **** chit down for Mike Brown, Mike Brown means we got to Fight back!'

One person had a serious discussion with me, but most called me a troll and wanted me blocked, even though I was on my best behavior

You are my hero. I've almost joined a few chats myself, but I don't have the energy to waste on people whose minds are too closed to receive opinions that differ. Good for you!

Michael Brown Activists Call for Arrest of Officer Darren Wilson

officials should "bypass" a grand jury
immediately charge Wilson in Brown's death
activists calling for Wilson's arrest were not "anti-police," and that they merely wanted to see justice served for Brown's surviving relatives.

We have posts saying that pot can be laced with other drugs and be a factor in this case and someone who says that those posts are inaccurate. But no links to help me decide who's correct.

I assume that it's possible to lace pot with all sorts of other drugs because I don't see why it's not possible. I can see pot use alone not being a factor in this case, but if it's been combined with some other drug, it sure can be in my opinion.

MOO.
