I have wondered this too. Found this, I wonder if they<(jurors) are asked/told not to watch/listen about the case they are hearing. jmo idk

Found this vid posted on another site. It's the first few seconds that are interesting...

The vid starts with Brady being interviewed and holding his cell phone up toward the cameras showing what he saw. It's interesting b/c the MSNBC tv interview states there is no audio of the recording, and in this bit, there is clearly audio as the camera is picking it up. 2nd what you hear is Brady say twice, "he ran back to the car, he ran back to the car."

I'm not hearing it. Exactly where in the vid is that? And what does it mean? We know that MB ran/walked/stumbled back toward OW, but they were both quite a ways from the car at that point.

Almost 100% sure he's got this wrong. That's usually standard, iirc and with Darren treated at hospital, I bet they did screen him. This sort of disinformation from the rioters' leaders only fuels the fire. Maybe purposefully.

Predictably he's wrong on this. Hope someone calls him on it.

i'd be interested in reading the actual proposal - will start searching for it.

i'm assuming that a crb member must be a ferguson resident in good standing and able to conduct business in a confidential manner.

i'd assume the county would appoint these people? just add quite a bit of $ to ferguson's budget - it doesn't come cheap.

Would the mayor be able to serve? It says must be a resident of the city for 1 year preceding appointment and resident while serving. Or would the mayor have to appoint a designee under the current circumstances? As I recall, he's not a resident of Ferguson.

If anything, I think the police and shopkeepers had more fear of the community than vice versa. Continuously violating the law, acting out of control, ignoring officers' instructions and warnings all displayed for the cameras does not lend itself to LE being the problem.

I think at that point, the police were being largely constrained by others. It was good to see some citizens out guarding buildings. Last count I saw two dozen businesses were looted, and they also tried to burn down a perfectly unrelated BBQ.

Yup. Just like this store owner that was watching his store being looted on live TV, when he called the police they claimed they had officers at the store and everything was fine. He had to grab some weapons and drive to the store and protect it himself.

according to Ferguson's Code of Ordinances all council members must retain a residence in Ferguson, including the Mayor

3.2.2 Eligibility

All council members and the mayor shall be qualified voters of the city. The council members elected by wards shall be residents of the wards from which they are elected during their entire term of office. No person shall qualify as a candidate for Mayor or Council member who has been convicted of or found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony under the laws of this state or of the United States.

This case has ALWAYS been about an officer encountering a suspect, from the very instant that there was "a struggle" and an ASSAULT of the officer in his patrol vehicle. If this case had been reported about responsibly and accurately from the very beginning, there may have never been the mobs, riots, looting, burning, and violence.

I hope this article is the beginning of a new approach by MSM to reporting on this case. One that emphasizes the different roles of officer and suspect, and focused on what MB did himself. What he personally did that changed him from an innocent teen on his way to Grandma's house, and into a violent suspect in felony assault of an officer. Because THAT is the story that needs to go national about this case, and the story that the talking heads needs to be talking about. IMO. We desperately need a national discussion about personal responsibility, and consequences, IMO-- personal responsibility on a number of levels.

ITA. The Grand Jury are members of the community and the reason they are given subpoena power is so their questions can be answered.

FWIW, when I was on a GA "sitting" gj like the one in StL, we were told we could get answers for any question we had about anything from any public office in the county. I took that opportunity and went to the planning office, where I uncovered the political shenanigans behind why our road hadn't been paved when others with far fewer houses had. Just FYI, in case you're ever called for gj duty and there's something in your local gov you want to get to the bottom of.

Wow, good article, and on cnn.com no less.

I suspect that what's going to happen is, the 9 white and 3 black members of the GJ are going to split along racial lines, and there will be no indictment. They need 9 votes for a true bill, and I just can't see that happening, regardless, but it won't surprise me at all if it splits exactly along racial lines. And the rioting and looting will start up again, with the addition of accusations of GJ cover-ups and deliberate mishandling of the GJ case and racism by the GJ itself. Those people in Ferguson are not going to accept the GJ's decision.

Question -- if the GJ does NOT indict can the prosecutor still press charges? Or is it completely dependent on the GJ decision? I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't.
