I was just thinking about that. He has to be scared to death.

No doubt he was scared. Which is why the FBI went door-to-door. Holder's press release indicates new witnesses have now been interviewed. Telling the truth might be the best thing to happen to Mr. Johnson and his family in a long time. He already showed he has a conscience. He wouldn't take the cigars.

i think they are staged in a different area because you don't see the police dividing line....

They broke the story about the autopsy and I can't believe they would post something this big without it being true. It would be highly irresponsible.

While I agree with what you say, I have to add that everything I have seen since this debacle started has been irresponsible. JMO

Yes, I was very very impressed when he put them back on the counter.

I also noticed his stunned look when he was first handed them...

Jake Tapper sees an arrest in progress, LE says "just a fight, not related." Tapper: "in the presence of 100s of police, maybe not the best time to express your beef"

I think the Governor's statement means "We must cave in to the bullies." JMO

Wouldn't the governor be the one to commute any death penalty conviction in his state? Why should Nixon stay out of events in his own state? Because (lol) Megyn Kelly says so?
Mmkay.

re Missouri

COUNTY PROSECUTOR (St. Louis County), an elected position, makes charging decisions
and prosecutes crimes at trial level (among other functions).

STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, an elected position, represents the state generally on criminal appeals
for all Missouri counties (among other functions).

STATE GOVERNOR, an elected official, heads the executive branch of the state and
has authority to commute sentences and to grant pardons for certain types of crimes on a case by case basis.

The governor's plate is pretty full, so ...
he generally keeps his mitts off and his nose out of the county level criminal prosecutions, imo, but there are exceptions.

Thanks, Frydaddy. I posted the actual quotes (with links) from LE regarding the assault and attempted weapon theft a couple pages back and haven't gotten a response about those facts yet.

I think I'll go walk my precious pup.

I must admit, I find it very telling the number of people who thought/still think Wilson executed Mike Brown, who seldom answer any questions about witnesses and evidence, just keep on making statements that have nothing in common with what is known. I've noticed a few folks missing from the conversation for some reason! ;)

ANd like for me this is a he said she said and always will be. Its more like a score sheet who has themost that adds up. If his picture of injuries is signigant, if there is a bullet whole in the vehicle just IMO seem huge. Adding or subtracting credibility from the officers friends explanation of he told his girlfried. Just my notion I think the caller on the radio station was highly beleivable!

I think what they meant is that DJ lied and MB did assault DW. So there is no way the GJ will be able to indict due to the laws.

A few years ago, Dan, the son of a friend, (who is white) was shot to death by the police. It was a complicated case, but the short story is that he visited the home of a cop earlier in the day for a July 4th party. His fiancé and the mother of his children was cousins with the cop's wife, so it was a family/friend type get together. But they weren't that close so they kind of just made an obligatory appearance. They stayed 2 hours, left, dropped the kids at grandmas, went out for a "date night", had some drinks, shot some pool, etc. When they came home at midnight the cruiser from the city next door was in front of their house. That was weird. But then they noticed that next to the officer in uniform was the cousin-cop in street clothes. Dan's fiancee's heart dropped because she thought maybe someone in their family had died and he was hear to break the news to her. Instead he confronted Dan claiming Dan stole money and jewelry from his wife earlier that day. Dan denied it, they started arguing and then it's he-said she-said because Dan's fiancee said the cops started throwing Dan around and the cops said Dan started it. The officer who shot (not the off-duty cousin, but his on-duty partner) said Dan went for his gun and he had no choice. The cops concluded it was a good shoot so the officers weren't charged. Afterwards they searched Dan, his fiancé, the house, the car, and guess what? No stolen anything. They even went back to the cops house and dusted the jewelry box for fingerprints and swabbed it for DNA - neither of which was a match to Dan or fiancé. So I get how these cases can be both complex and tragic.

Anyhow, I mention it in case anyone had questions about cases like this. Not that I'm the expert, because I'm not at all. But for example, I can say that it took 6 months for the cops to finish the investigation and send it to the grand jury. So it's so weird to me to see CNN acting like one week is unusually long and suspicious.

He probably had no choice when presented by investigators with evidence thoroughly debunking his lies. The hero train left the station without Mr. Johnson long ago imo.

He did have a choice whether to tell the truth. He hasn't been charged with a crime, has he?
