I'd also like folks to keep in mind that memories of a small child are exactly that-- a small child...perspectives & proportions are seen differently thru the eyes of a little one.

For example, I have memories of a huge, cavernous-sized bedroom with a ginormous bed -- however, seeing that same bedroom as an adult, the room is actually small -- smaller than any bedrooms in my own home...and the bed was standard size -- not queen or king.

It may be hard to figure out distances because 100 yards could seem like a quarter mile to a little kid.

Just my $0.02.

Yes, and that could be the explanation for the giant "300 pound man" as well. He could have been 5'5" and weighed 150 and he would have seemed huge to little girls.

Yes they are adults making these allegations, but if the allegations are based on "recovered memories" then even most experts agree those kind of memories aren't reliable. There have been a number of lawsuits successfully won in the "recovered memory" cases.
So the police better have some actual evidence rather than just "recovered memories." If they found broken glass jar with no notes, and glasses during their digging, then I am sorry, that's not evidence. In a case where a murder is alleged, I think they need to find a body. Police have multiple people arrested, and I think it's only fair to ask what evidence they actually have.
Yes, recovered memories aren't always reliable. However...is it likely that 8 victims (is that what we're up to now?) would recover the same memories? What is everyone's opinion on the sheer number of victims--some unrelated--telling the same horrendous tales? Perhaps Paximus, or another lawyer, can give us some insight on what corroborating testimony might do in a court of law, when combined with the incest 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Legal cases are fact specific, so it is very difficult to speculate about this or that in regards to any particular case without knowing all the facts.

That said, corroborating witnesses and testimony is only as good as it holds up under cross. Corroborating testimony from repressed memory and some incest 🤬🤬🤬🤬 is not likely going to win this case for the state and they would be wasting a lot of money if that is all they have to try this case on. I am no F. Lee Bailey but I am pretty sure I could get a hung jury and maybe even acquittal if that is all the state had was corroborating testimony and some 🤬🤬🤬🤬 magazines. They are going to need a lot more than that I am afraid and that is why they are spending all this money digging for peanut butter jars and possible dead bodies, you need physical evidence to get a conviction, not always but it is rare without it.

there was another 'bizarre' incest case in Missouri not so long ago involving buried babies -- I wonder if people didn't believe the vic when the buried babies weren't found where they were initially reported to have been buried.

Missouri Man Accused of Incest and Child Murder
January 23, 2009

The case first came to light on Oct. 3, 2008. Court documents show that on that day one of Rinehart's daughters called police and reported that her father had been having sex with her sister. She went on to describe the birth – the first in 2004 and the last in 2008 – and death of each of the children and instructed police as to where the remains could be found.

On Oct. 15, authorities, assisted by a team of cadaver dogs, conducted a search of a Harrisonville property that Rinehart once owned, but they were unable to locate any remains. The investigation stalled; however, investigators received a break on Jan. 1, when the new property owners found two coolers containing child skeletal remains inside a garage. The investigation continued until Wednesday, when the Cass County Sheriff’s Office announced that they were looking for Rinehart.

I disagree.

In the majority of child sexual abuse cases there isn't conclusive physical evidence. Most convictions are gained by nothing more than a child's testimony.

Children usually don't report until long after the incident. Most victims don't contract a STD and most don't have the kinds scars necessary for conclusive evidence. Cases with multiple victims, add to that... unrelated victims usually end in conviction. Top it all off with some incest 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and it's a super strong case.

This particular case is going to be difficult because of the media coverage and the horrific nature of the crimes. Also making it more difficult...it's in the bible belt. People simply prefer to believe things like this don't happen.

Texas Mist, I am from St. Louis, and follow Missouri news closely. I remember this case. It does happen, more than people realize.

I found this comment on Topix:

"I thought one of the charges included some recording of the events."

Does anyone know what this commenter is referring to? I don't remember hearing about a recording at all.

Why do you think the search warrants were released already?

We are finally hearing what the 'women' have to say - I think this bears repeating:

and this should be in our thread too

The wife said she and her husband had lived on separate levels of the house since she found the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 in a false ceiling in the basement.

Hmmmm -- was dear wife just a little disgusted or what????

Anyone have a link to the pdf's yet?

  • #331
So, that article linked by fran said Sr's wife found the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the false ceiling in the basement and since that time have been living on separate floors of the home.

1) If I found that s$#t he would be removing my foot from his a$$ and calling his divorce attorney, not moving to the basement.

2) What made her look in the ceiling tiles of the basement?????? A little 'lite' cleaning?

3) I thought he had only been married twice and the second one divorced him and moved to S.D......what am I missing?

4) What was with the unrelated woman living at the house?

So, will the wife be charged? She Knew about the abuse and did nothing to protect the children?

I'm coming in late today, but didn't she just find 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 mags depicting incest ?

I didn't know something like that even existed.

Have the others lawyered up yet? Have been following the events in Jefferson City regarding the murder of Elizabeth Olten.

That could be (about the magazines). I have a lot going on in my family right now (sick mom), so I am only catching a little of what's going on. I also had no clue that something like that existed.

Even if she didn't know about the sexual abuse of the children, and I would find that very hard to believe, once she found the magazines, then you'd think that she'd protect her children from the monsters that were reading them. Considering the level of involvement from so many members of this family, I can't believe that the wife knew nothing about what was going on.

Responding to your third question, Sr. has been married twice, remarrying after his first wife died in the early 90s. Jr. is the one who has been married, IIRC, four times.

(ETA: Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Well, well, well. So it looks like the evidence is growing as more witnesses come forward.

That is what I thought, so who is the person being quoted in the article as the 'wife'....shouldn't she be in S.D. with her new hubby??? Just checked to make sure I'm not going crazy, yep, it said Sr., so my question remains. Could we be missing a part of the family tree?
