I also wonder, jjj, if LE is looking into former Bishop Tonga's past counseling sessions with other families? I really worry that he discounted more than just this one mother.
I hear what you are saying that this is a systemic problem. How is this going to play out, though, under the glare of publicity? Sure, the church will distance themselves. The poor Bishop will be left hanging. IMO, he didn't do himself any favors with his interview yesterday. But I wonder if other victims of other perps will step forward and raise their voice with a sense of new empowerment?
I fully respect what level of indoctrination can be carried out on children (and adults too) within a church construct. But what about kids who go to public school and are out in the community and on the internet more and more? A level of awareness is going to be raised and victims are going to start stirring and realizing that something is very wrong in the family. Obviously, this is happening in the Mohler family as we speak. My hope that this case causes others to come forward. Maybe that's the one really positive aspect of the media coverage. Maybe the alleged victims realize that too.
