I've been trying to follow this case (and I've been lurking on this thread) but this is my first time posting, so please bear with me and correct me if I state anything that's inaccurate
I agree this new article is odd. The author seems to mix some seemingly valuable new information with statements cut from a crime novel.
While not ruling out foul play, Kansas City police think that around 6 a.m. Jan. 15, Toni Anderson likely wrecked her black 2014 Ford Focus on some rural, desolate roadway.
The accident may have happened far away from where any high-definition, sonar detectors or other aerial tracking devices would have been able to locate her.
Where would this be? The moon?? (Just seems like an odd way to express the concept Toni had an accident and her car hasn't been found because it occurred someplace they haven't searched yet.)
I didn't realize this case was already being treated as a cold case:
...Sgt. Ben Caldwell, a supervisor with the Police Departments missing persons, cold case section.
Despite the reporter misquoting the text Toni sent, if the information about her being at the QT until 4:49 is accurate, I agree we can at least eliminate the "second stop" theory. Makes me wonder what she was doing in those minutes after texting and before leaving the QT. I think the idea she was inputting directions for her next destination into her navigation system makes sense. Or maybe she was just debating about what her next destination should be: Shady Lady? Home? Some specific location out toward Parkville? Just driving around so she could listen to music and think?
Investigators know that Anderson was driving in an unfamiliar area.
How can they be so sure the area was unfamiliar to Toni, and yet not know exactly where this was? Is it because they also believe she was using her navigation system to drive someplace she hadn't been before? I agree its odd they waited so long to release this information, especially with all the theories flying around, including ones suggesting bad or fake police.
Bottom line for me is, at least maybe I can remove the "second stop" from my thought process, but this article otherwise did very little to clear things up. JMHO
