People are rightfully concerned about the welfare of these children. We are balancing right to fair trial with rights of children.

Defendant was quickly identified by social media which is why we are naming her today. The name is already out there. Children got immediate medical attention, interviewed, and released to a family member. Victims services will be supporting these children as the case plays out.

Kelli Marie Bryant, age 34 3 charges of first degree child abuse

Bryant could face up to life in prison. She lived with her 4 children in 2019 at the residence. At some point in 2020 or 2021, One child went to live with it's father, she proceeded to leave the remaining three children abandoned at the residence.

When LE arrived at the home the children hid, they were terrified. LE had to convince them that they were there to help and not harm them. Upon leaving the residence the children at the hospital struggled with completing basic tasks like brushing teeth, flushing a toilet. They'd not had any interaction with people and only received minimal interaction with their mother.

The son would text his mother when they ran low on food and she would have some delivered. She concealed the kids from family and friends and took care to lie about where her children were. She was conscious of the wrongness of her actions, conscious of her own guilt, cautioned the children never to go outside. Each child had their own phone. According to the record there was zero physical contact between mother and children during the time they were left there alone.

McDonald believes there was heat in the home. Prosecutor has no idea why THIS mother did this but she speaks in generalities about why parents do such things. Sometimes there isn't a why.

How did the family who has the children now not know what was happening to the kids?? The state will be requesting that this mother's parental rights are terminated. We are asking that people try to protect the children's privacy and their current placement. They are in the custody of DHS but placed in the care of an unnamed family member. small town, everybody knows everybody. Please respect their privacy.

presser is over.

Bryant told an Oakland County judge in August 2022 in a custody case for a fourth child, a 9-year-old boy whose father said he never lived in that home that she was "not in a situation where I barely can provide for myself or my children," but she needed time to get back on her feet. She said it was in the best interest of their son that his dad took him.

“I’ve practically raised my children alone with less than bare minimum from their fathers,” the mother wrote

I have to say, I hope the toilet in her cell does not flush and is overrunning. JMO

Where was the "mother" living during this time?

"Morally, there is plenty of responsibility to go around for how this was allowed to happen. However, these three kids were entrusted to care of their mother,” McDonald said. “What stands out the most for me is no love. There was nobody there to care for them for between three and four years. No parent, nobody physically present to let them know they were safe and they were loved.”

It seems that when she moved out of that home sometime between 2020 and 2021 she sent the 4th child to live with his father In 2022 she went to court for a custody case on the 4th child and the father was granted custody.
It didn't say where she was living at that time, I'm going to guess at the place she was living at when arrested.

Bryant allegedly lived in the house with her four children in 2019, but at some point between 2020 and 2021, she had moved out and left three of her children there, while a fourth child went to live with his father.

This also sounds good to me.

She also stated the prosecutor’s office will be asking its client, the Department of Health and Human Services, to file a petition to terminate her parental rights.

Unfortunately, the other 3 children's father was incarcerated so she couldn't send those children to him. When he got out he apparently requested custody of the three but that never happened. I wonder why not? Did she fight that requested custody change? Because by then she'd already abandoned them to live in that hellhole. Did he not continue to do whatever was required of him to get custody? I don't know, I only know my heart hurts for the kids.

The three kids' father requested a change in custody in March 2022 after he was released from prison, according to a motion he filed in Oakland County Circuit Court. He wrote that he had not been around in years, but "my kids need there (sic) father in their life."

Here is Kelli's FB page (please note there are NO photos or mentions of her children on the page or I wouldn't share it. I agree with the state's attempt to protect their identities and privacy. They've been through enough.)

The prosecutor said they will also be seeking to terminate Bryant's parental rights.

Bouchard said that the boy only left the house a few times; he reportedly only did so twice, once to just "touch the grass" and then to go out to get the mail.

Bouchard called the revelation the boy just wanted to feel the grass "by itself, heartbreaking."

"You wouldn't do this to an animal, let alone your child," Bouchard said. "So, just to hear that he came outside to touch the grass is just crushing, soul-crushing on so many levels."

Less than a minimum from their fathers? How many fathers? And she couldn't get one father to pay child support?

So many people failed these kids and it makes me rage. <modsnip: Websleuths does not condone or allow the advocacy of violence>

These babies had phones and could leave and that’s how abused they were - to not say anything.

And as someone in the field - I can only imagine they reached a point of such shame themselves. And that makes me rage too.

And I just go back to it. They weren’t toddlers. The knew every day this was their life. That no one wanted them. That no one was fighting to find them. That their toe nails were so long they could barely walk.

Yes I’m glad she didn’t injure their bodies or do something else (again probably for benefits) but life in prison better not be gentle to her for what she did to their sweet baby minds

The Pontiac, Michigan, woman who is accused of abandoning her three children to live in squalor for years was charged Wednesday with felony child abuse.

Court records show Kelli Bryant, 34, was charged with three counts of first-degree child abuse. Though prosecutors initially declined to identify, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald disclosed Bryant's name in announcing the charges Wednesday.

McDonald told reporters that her office would also represent the Department of Health and Human Services in terminating Bryant's parental rights...

Could this woman have been being extorted this way? So many red flags here. I did read all four pages and links. Still spooked.
