I have always thought that she packed her car up and was "going somewhere".
Lisa Daugherty said "Jessica's car was destroyed by fire, so if she had anything written down and stored there, it went up in flames with her."
IMO that is the main reason her car was burned. To destroy her and all of the things she kept in the trunk away from her "nosy" mother.
That is one of the reasons I don't think that any of the people that have been discussed, killed her.
If the purpose of burning her car was to burn the journal she had, it sounds like that may not have been successful.
Keep in mind when bagging and tagging evidence, it is usually one item per bag.
So really it may have been only 5 items.
"With Jessica, if she had anything important written down, it was in her car, because she would have been afraid Mama would go in there and see it, because Mama was nosy like that. So the first thing she would do is take it and put it in her car. It would be in the trunk."

You do know that I totally understand where you are coming from with this theory. There have been some carefully planted stories about JC ripping off others, and rumors of that nature. Given the unusual amount of gas purchased, although not an excessive amount, she could have potentially been "running away".
Bear in mind, when Ali claimed that her car left M&Ms headed South, her car would have to go south onto Hwy 51 in order to avoid running into the folks, such as SRudd, who were gathered around the dumpster at M&Ms. It does not preclude her from heading south and taking an immediate right to drive along Carlisle to her own home (the residence in the TL) to give her mom the cigs or to access Shiloh Road. If Ali was inside the store working, how did he know which direction in which she left unless he was keeping a very watchful eye on her?
JCs car had only been recently been returned to her to drive. Reports are a bit conflicting; however, wasn't JCs car returned to JC by her dad about the last two weeks before her death? If that is true, and she left LH in October, where was JC keeping her journal/diary/story/book before her car was returned to her in late November?
It is common therapy to have a patient write or journal their thoughts while in treatment centers, such as Leah's House, so that it may assist the patients face their life's realities and go forward with a new approach to handling reactions to stressful or unpleasant situations without self-harm.
This is why JC approached Ms Oliver.
JMHO JC had already begun to write or journal her troubled past. By that, I mean, her past as being the dysfunctional issues in her immediate and intermingled family. One thing that I suspect was written about was her beloved, deceased brother, BAC, and her own father (along w/ his current wife) being involved with operating a meth lab. Her dad went to prison, did he not? These are not normal everyday occurrences in average American households. It had to have a compelling impact upon Jessica.
Personally, after intensely studying this case since it occurred, I believe the journal could have been a catalyst for her death. Her story was not going to be told due to possibly protecting some from humiliation and permanent scorn. Untold family secrets would and did stop with her death. In a crime such as this, one must ask oneself: Who benefits from Jessica's death?
