OT a little, but it has been mentioned here how many people from somewhere other than the South have the idea that southerners are all just a bunch of dumb country hicks. I'm from the South, live in the South, and would never want to live anywhere else. I've always wondered why, if we are so dumb, does our students almost always score above the national average on testing? Anyway, I don't attach too much intelligence to non-southerns who think a croaker sack is a sack to collect dead frogs in. Just kidding. If you're southern, you probably know what a croaker sack is.

OT in response, but I LOVED living in the South and found the people there to be extremely smart, warm, and gracious. I can easily tear up when I think about the good times and friends I had there (NC). I've also made good friends and had good times in New England, which I was told would be "provincial." I really dislike generalizations of any kind, you know?

Re: LE: I personally think they have no choice but to be quiet with this case. The crime itself (if you think it was a crime) is sensational enough ... start stirring things up and people may bolt or say even less. I do think the crime scene (I think it was a crime) could have been handled differently, but that's that. What matters now is now. JMO.

Oh, goodness. I would never stereotype based on what area of the country one lives in. We have a ton of small, rural towns around here and I don't think country folk are stupid at all. Stupid people exist everywhere. Around here, we call them politicians ;)

RDT Said they brought her in because she may have sent Jessica a text. Made me think who sends a text? Must have been clear and concise information such as your Tupperware order is in.

I believe that the first things LE did to investigate were to contact whoever JC had been in contact with by phone, thus, Sha Sha, and Tutor. Not sure how Mister fit in, unless the text was about him. JMO

Think they may always bring GM in.

My son will only call me when he's driving and he can place the call through his car thingy. Otherwise, it is a text. If he got caught(by me or otherwise) texting while driving, I will have his phone shut off and he knows it. I can't take the car because he financed it and has his own insurance, but...I still have some leverage with the phone ;)

That's good parenting. I cant stand seeing people buried in their phone while driving, the "trucker mouth" comes out, I invent new cuss words and phrases everyday

maybe.. she was just hangin out with someone, smoking, chatting, whatever. Parked out of view since they werent supposed to be there, hence the parking break.. The person wanted Jessica's full attention but she was on her phone texting, facebooking or whatever and they got mad and said "F your phone" or something similar and chucked it out the window.. A fight progressed, they knocked her out or smacked her (possible gash). and it was an "oh *****" moment. it went from there and her phone laying in the woods was the last thing on the perps mind, possibly even forgotten about in the heat of the moment. no pun intended...

You made me think. This has always seemed premeditated to me because of the accelerant. But if something happened that killed her (or they thought she was dead) they could park the car out of sight as best they could then return to burn the evidence and hide the crime.

Wasn't her car black? That would make it easier to hide.

Why recline the seats? So no one would see a person in the car maybe? Hmmm...food for thought.

Great post and great point.

My heart just hurts more for Jessica's short life, and the upward and forward motion she was making for her life, the more we learn about Jessica.

When I read this I thought that perhaps Jessica slapped her mother (as opposed to my previous theory of girlfight), mom had her arrested for assault. Sometimes, a parent will have had enough and when it escalates to violence will call police as a last result. This could have been the "assault" that started the path to Jessica's wellness by having the court order to have residential counseling aka time at Leah's House.

Well the seats could've been reclined before the fight.
You were talking about the theory of a fight taking place somewhere else and another person driving her car to a remote spot then coming back to torch it. ;) Hard to drive with a seat reclined.

My thought was while they were gone to get an accelerant perhaps the seats were put back to keep someone from seeing Jessica or a person was inside the car so they would not stop to chat or check on her.

That too could be the reason.

My thinking was that they were parked right there but not hidden. Just looking for some privacy. Seats were already reclined for romantic purposes or just smokin'. After "the fight" the car could be moved a little to hide it.

Or what you said.

Too much to keep up with... who is Mr. Mister's mrs? TIA.

yes, but in other arenas, he has named the person who is in an open relationship with him and it is not RDT.

Completely off topic~ I would like to take a moment to thank our mod(s?). Bessie is obviously on her toes today. I have been slammed with work so I have not had a chance to keep up and post like I have been recently. I go onto WS about 30 minutes ago to check in with you guys and see what I have missed (always hoping to log on and see there has been a resolution to this case). As I made my way to the end of the thread, I was shocked to see the last post. So shocked, in fact, I literally had to step away from my laptop, step outside in the 10 degree cold, and take a deep breath. Upon returning to the computer and refreshing the page, I saw that said post was already removed. I can't be certain if it was removed by the poster or by Bessie, so to whomever took the initiative to do so, thank you. The sole reason I chose to join WS is because gossip, racism, and ignorance is against TOS. Glad to see that remains the same.

I guess I missed it, because I would have noticed. Ignorance, however, is not against TOS. Racism IS, but it often is not-so-cleverly disguised. JMO
