There is no English-language coverage of this disappearance that I could find, so I made a write-up (all Spanish-language articles linked below)
Lidya Ireydi Becerra Ramírez, 43, was traveling with her son, José Luis Lozano Becerra, 15, and her daughter, Kinnereth Ireydi Becerra Ramírez, 26. They were heading to the United States on the Cerralvo-Miguel Alemán highway from Rincón Guadalupe, Guadalupe, MX in two vehicles: a brown 2007 Honda Element with the license plate SRK1818 and a gray 2003 Honda Element with the license plate SPK3300.
Lidya and José were known to be in the brown 2007 Honda Element, and Kinnereth was driving the gray 2003 Honda Element.
According to Lidya’s father, Don Salvador Becerra Ibarra, the group was heading to McAllen, TX to buy clothes, something they did frequently, as they would resell those clothes in the markets in Monterrey. He hired a private investigator who was able to narrow down their last known location to an area known as La Antena, between Cerralvo, Nuevo León and Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas. The investigator also said that their cellphones pinged: two were traced to the Mexican side of the border and one was traced to Texas. The phones have since been turned off.
The prosecutor with the Mexican Attorney General’s Office assigned to the case refused to elaborate on the location of the phones citing the ongoing investigator, but confirmed “we have the telephone numbers and their location.”
Lidya’s father says he has traveled the entire route Lidya would have taken from their home in Rincón Guadalupe to the Reynosa area in the hopes of at least locating the vehicles, but he found no trace of them. “[It’s like] they were swallowed by the earth,” he told a reporter with Milenio Noticias.
